We need to get this OT in spotlight. No way Berserk's community here is just us in the thread

I love Berserk. I have purchased 30/38 volumes so far, I pretty much buy as I go during my reread. It's a great palette cleanser if the last Berserk you've experienced was the shitty anime. Currently almost done with 17. I love Farnese's cray cray moments, but at the same time I'm glad Miura developed that character. Her and Serpico are actually my favorite characters, though from what I remember Serpico doesn't have much to do in the later parts, he's just sort of along for the ride. The bond Farnese has with Schierke is great. It allows Schierke to continue the relationship she had with her teacher, but she's the senior and it allows her to view it from a different perspective, though I do know that doesn't happen for several volumes yet. Also I don't think the anime ever showed how Zodd lost his horn, he just shows up one horned. Also seems like they're currently teasing Griffiths return in volume 17. This also cements that Charlotte loves Griffith a lot. I don't remember her feelings in either anime or movies being this strong for him. She's just clutching her symbolic dolls even while hearing of her fathers death, more evidence is shown much later as well.

Mozgus: "I'll feed your poor half dead kid. I love your devotion, it's praise worthy."

"Sin is sin!!"
I love how Isidro goes crazy when he first sees Guts slaughtering the Kushan. I also love how Isidro at first tries to use fake Kushan as a distraction only for them to descend upon the group he tried to rob. So much dark humor on that one. And people think Berserk doesn't have a sense of humor.

So... What are people's thoughts on The Idea of Evil?

I had remembered hearing something about it before reading, but figured it was a major spoiler for later on and held off on looking up more until it got a proper reveal... Needless to say, I was confused by the time I finished vol 38.

Looking it up now, it's interesting to me that the concepts introduced in that chapter have remained consistent with later revelations about the planes of existence and such. But at the same time, I can understand why Miura might choose not to bring it back since it both sets a definite boundary of Berserk's world, and yet feels beyond the scope of the narrative for the party to confront. I consider it canon, but don't expect it to return.

Its amazing in a sense that Miura has built up his world and universe to the point he has it seemingly figured out in a metaphysical level and that more so, it all works so well. I'm curious add well to see if the Idea of Evil itself returns to the story of Berserk but even if it doesn't many of the elements and themes inherent to what it is and represents are very much still present in Berserk on the small and large scale.

Im actually super confused about both the Idea of Evil, and the Demon Egg from the Mozgus arc.

Like how the demon egg bore both
griffiths new form and guts moon child
. im actually super shaky on the details.. I reread black swordsman in october, might just reread all of it in January

The Behelit Apostle is an apostle that didn't have anything to sacrifice because of how destitute and isolated he was when the Godhand came up visit. So instead it put its body up for sacrifice as its the only thing it valued and loved. It was then turned into a giant behelit and like it's life before turning into apostle was a small bit of set up of whatever plan the GH have that is still ongoing and obviously becoming far more grandiose the more we learn.

We don't actually have confirmation of what the Moon Child is yet. The theory I subscribe to is that he's something like an alternate aspect of Griffith that manifests during the full moon. He became a part of Griffith's new body when he, as the demon fetus, merged with the Egg of the Perfect World. Since then he's mostly remained hidden in Griffith's subconscious until he has the power to manifest and senses his parents are in danger.

So is it just me or does this hiatus feel more painful than usual? It's dragging badly for me this time. I just want Casca healed already! **cries uncontrollably**

Godspeed, unholy child of men

Just found these vids

I finally got a chance to watch this. It had some interesting insights into how the 97 anime did more with less actual animation, but I don't see why that technique is impossible for modern anime other than not currently being in vogue. I'm also not sure I agree with the premise that this technique should be used during action scenes; I for one do want to see every swing of the Dragonslayer during a Guts vs Zodd fight, for example.

Still a neat video with good info on the animation process. Are there any other similar ones out there?

I'm on chapter 252. Will Griffith have more appearances from here on? I hoped that he would appear more since the arc is called "Falcon of the Millenium Empire".

I don't think it was ever confirmed if Rakshas was sent under orders or it wasn't just him being totally obsessed with Griffith's head and wanting to kill Rickert for slapping it.

i got the feeling it was Locus that sent him.
Griffith appeared to take the rejection in stride (though it not like how Griffith appears has ever been trustworthy) and there is a shot of locus watching rickert leave and getting real mad.

I thought the same thing too, but I wouldn't be shocked if we found out Griffith talked with either Locus and/or Rakshas afterwards to "take care" of Rickert.

Like you don't slap the demon king in front of his own demons and not expect to be taken care of. Rickert just lucky Grunbeld was busy.
