Wow, the lizard is way easier than both the elephant and the camel.

I was disappointed that there was no action sequence to that Divine Beast. They set up a cool foundation in Death Mountain with the mine carts and the cannons but never really took things anywhere. Maybe I just hyped him up too much for myself but can you blame me? Seeing him skulking around Death Mountain was awesome at the start of the game.

Any recommended food to eat before tackling the Major Test of Strength Shrine? The HP of the Guardian seems extremely high.

I'd recommend cooking together food that boosts your attack power, aka ones that have 'mighty' in their name. The more the better. You can also boost your health by cooking 'hearty' foods together on top of a stat boost, if you want.

I guess the mine carts/cannons/ stealth portions were the action sequence. There were very few enemies in the beast itself.

I'm at my wit's end and I don't know what to do. I'm trying to get two Naydra's horns but nothing is working. I shoot it in the face, the blue hair, the eyes, the long sides of the head, and nothing is giving me anything. I've wasted so many arrows on it with zero results. The other dragon didn't give me any troubles, so I don't know wha the deal is with this one. I'm using a Knight's Bow, which is attack 26. Is that underpowered or something? I've tried regular, bomb, and fire arrows. Nothing works. Do I have to "beat" it first or something?

If that's the dragon that is corrupted then you probably have to free it first. It should be pretty obvious how to do that.

I stumbled upon a shrine/statue it was guarding, shot it so it started flying around, and chased it shooting it in its "horn". That didn't work, so I then decided to finish it by shooting all of the glowing eyes. It then flew up into the sky and hasn't returned after a few days in game. Does it come back after that and is that when I can get the horn? All I got was a single scale after defeating it and it going back into the sky.

You have to drop the scale into the pond in front of the shrine. I think that's what you're missing. I'm not sure what happens if you don't do that immediately, but it should work.

Why is it that it feels like the Blood Moon pops up all the time, but when you want to get that shrine it's nowhere to be seen? God damn, I've been waiting for ages now.

A bit late on this game since I just got a switch about a month ago. I am really enjoying it. Did not realize how much an open, do whatever you want, kind of game stresses me out.
I worry if I am doing what I should or working toward the right goal. I guess that is the thing though, there is no right or wrong way. Crazy

I read somewhere that you could literally finish the game right after the tutorial area.

Probably ill-advised, but the game does not give you much of a direction, at least from my perspective.

It has been a long time since I've played a Zelda game so my opinion holds less weight than seasoned players.

But seriously, this game has been one of the most frustrating ones I have experienced in a while.

I think it's affected by how many enemies and such you defeat as it acts as a reset so that the world doesn't get too empty. So if you just wait for it without killing anything you'll wait for a long time/possibly forever.

I personally find it more difficult than previous ones.

Again, might be because I am a seasoned button masher and button mashing will get you little to nowhere in this game, haha.

But the most frustrating parts I have found are the puzzles. I am no way near creative enough to use all the resources available to solve the problem ;-;

There are a multitude of ways to complete this without torches....
Use bows and arrows by aiming, dipping your point into the flame to ignite, and successfully shooting the other lanterns. You could swing a wooden weapon into the flame as well and use it as a makeshift torch, just like a torch acts. Or you could chop up nearby trees and shrubs to generate tree branches, using them as torches!

For that shrine, I just made a campfire and waited until I saw if the moon was a blood moon or not. Rinse and repeat.

Just go wherever your heart desires! Although the game doesn't outright tell you what to do or how to do it, it does naturally guide you towards points of interest.

So, got my Switch this past weekend & really started digging into Breath of the Wild the past 3 days. These are my thoughts so far (full disclosure: this is my first Zelda game):
  • As of this moment, I hate the controls. X to jump? Can't sprint with a weapon in hand? Pause to switch weapons? Pause to heal up? It all seems so cumbersome, especially when you're in a frantic battle. It kills the momentum. Part of the problem is definitely the Joy-Cons. My hand gets cramped playing with them. I have to get the Pro Controller soon.
  • Weapons breaking. Seriously, what the hell? I get about six good hits in & I already have the throw the damn thing. Even the freaking bow breaks. And my inventory is always full. Hopefully you can expand it.
  • The music is phenomenal. I love how soothing it can be.
  • The art style is an absolute delight. Can you export full quality screenshots from the Switch? May have to hang some of these up.
  • This game is hard. Only 4 shrines in with barely any health & no stamina. The blue bogoblin can kill me with just one hit. And a horse mule kicked me into oblivion.
  • I love the voice acting.
That's all I have right now. Fun, albeit frustrating game.

If you go into the settings you can change the jump button (this is the only button customisation you can do, though).

The weapon durability increases as you get stronger weapons. I can answer the bit about inventory if you like. I wasn't sure if you wanted an answer on that or if you wanted to find out for yourself.

I believe you can get high quality pictures if you use an SD card, but I haven't tried it out. Uploading to Facebook or Twitter compresses the picture quality a bit, unfortunately.

Definitely checking out the button change when I get back to it. Thank you for pointing it out. And no, don't tell me about the inventory. One of the best things about this game is finding out about everything. The ways you can attack enemies. Approaches to reaching new areas. It's amazing.

Unlike most I started this game and did not see how this game was scoring so well and receiving praise , initially after about 10 hrs I thought it was an ok open world game that lacked a story and any real direction .

After putting it on hiatus for a few months and jumping back in, this is is my favourite game I have played all year . I think my initial problem was I came across the elephant divine beast early on and was getting wrecked by its boss , since then I decided to just explore , it's my favourite part of the game , I spent the next 20 hrs purely just exploring , finding new stables , finding tons of shrines , the insane part is I still have tons of unexplored map ,

What I love about this game is the exploration and just constantly finding new things , I've since gone back and finished the elephant divine beast and I just came across the sky divine beast, I have still yet to find the other two and still not explored the volcano and other large parts of the map.

This game is amazing , yes the story is average , but th exploration / combat / cooking is all amazing .
It's amazing how much my opinion of the game has changed , I initially disliked the lack of direction but now I love it. It's so rare to not have a game shove waypoints all over your screen.

Heck it took me 15 hrs to realise you could save horses at stables , I completely missed the early side quest which teaches you about horses , likewise with cooking .

I can now see why it is getting all the rewards and acclaim.

I appreciate that you play this in your own unique way. The order you encounter the beast wasn't the most "common" order back when the game was released. I remember lots of players that wanted advice about which beast to encounter first. And such questions just ruin the freedom and exploration part of the game.

Pause to switch weapons?

I'm pretty sure there was a shortcut to select weapon. D-pad or something. There's absolutely a shortcut to select arrow type, that I'm sure about.

You will find armour just by playing the game and there are also ways to upgrade whatever you already have. However, the clothes that are displayed in shops must be bought (with very few exceptions).

Go wherever you want, really. It helps that you're in what qualifies as the starting area, difficulty-wise.

It is true that i can upgrade the master sword? how?

If you complete the master trials in the DLC, you can remove
the damage+cool down period
for the master sword. Please note that it's not enough to purchase the DLC to achieve it. There's a substantial 3-part challenge to reach that point.

Yes it's part of DLC 1
Any news on DLC2 date ? I want to binge replay this entire game in master mode so bad but I'm holding until it's out..
My game plan will basically be
Beeline the birds village to get the cold tunic. Once I've got that, beeline the 3 mazes to get the berserker set, then play the whole game with that. Doing shrines as they come, maybe some lynel farming to upgrade too

They haven't said anything about a complete edition. It's possible, especially given BotW's success, but not a given as its not something Nintendo does often. You can try holding out until next year to see if anything is announced.

What can we expect for the DLC? I know we are getting another dungeon, but I wonder what the challenges will be. I'm just hoping it's something substantial.

I want to do another playthrough of BOTW, but I'm not sure if I should do it normal or master mode. From the little I've played when the DLC released, it just seems more annoying than harder because of the HP regen, it's not really fun. Anyone did a playthrough in master mode here? And if so, does it get better and is it worth it?
