Presumably their PSN name has been blocked. Would probably have to create new PSN accounts to keep playing. I think PS+ is shared system wide though, so presumably they could keep playing. Would just be a loss of progress I guess unless there's something more complex to the ban.
I would hope so. I mean, if all that happened was a PSN name block, then it would be too simple to just make a new one and do it all over again.

Saw the video and yeah it's stupid but man I heard 20 times worse on a daily basis when I played online a lot in the mid 2000s.

This is a troll incident and they should be banned of course.

But this incident aside, This issue will prove to be very tricky in this game going forward. Because the premise is to role-play a fkd up person in a post apocoliptic fkd up wastland, which is why NPCs don't exist, and some might want to role play the bad guys, like the slavers from past fallout games for example ? Or even Nazis.

Bathesda should define ingame where the line starts and ends. So players and specially kids can read it. Maybe have a paragraph at the start in tutorial and some sentences during loading as tips.

Nothing tricky here, it's one thing to roleplay with NPC's for fun. Like joining the Legion. And something entirely different attacking people online. The theme of the game is no excuse to harass.

Glad Besthesda banned their asses. Their console accounts should be banned entirely. Man, this game just cannot get any positive press, can it? I just gets worse and worse.

User banned (1 month): rationalizing homophobia + condescending behaviour + history of severe infractions
If the game had more to do, people wouldn't be racist and homophobic? Is that what I'm hearing?

Because I've got some bad news...

And even if that were true, I mean, really?
Nop, thers trash ppl in all online games. What im saying is if ur mind is focused in a task the game offers u to do, maybe the trash ppl are less likelly to harass other players to get some fun out of the game. I tought this was obvious and i didnt needed to explain like if u was 6 years old.

This kind of thing is so sickening I literally want to throw up. WTF is wrong with people? And the fact that the kid is saying he wouldn't apologize if given a chance.. smh what a privileged little asshole. Lifetime ban absolutely deserved in this case hate speech and bigotry in an online game is still hate speech you don't get to terrorize someone like that and call it a joke. And to anyone downplaying this as stupid or not a big deal because "back in my day online games were so much worse" please bring this up to any gay person you know and see how it makes them feel

There shouldn't be a need for this to "go viral" or jump through hoops for appropriate action to get taken for an online game. This should just be basic stuff at this point.

Report systems should also cc the platform holder for review as well. Judging by this kids response he needs to learn a lesson or two.

They've been permabanned and their YouTube Channel taken down. This is what should happen to those reported with validity. Get rekt! Hope they enjoyed paying for an over priced game only to be banned for life.

My brother and I have talk about this multiple times and have agreed that we would both have 0 problems paying for a service thats sole purpose was to entirely filter out toxic players from online play. Yesterday i was sent two different messages through xbl the first telling me to "choke" and the second telling me to "kys" (stands for kill yourself) all because i wasn't carrying my team well enough in Rb6 siege. My brother and I were the top two players on our team with one other useful teammate and two useless teammates window peaking and going 0-0-5. I reported both messages but the problem with xbox live is that i believe it is WAY to easy to create smurf accounts for games like RB6 siege and Overwatch. This is what i assume is going on as the majority of extremely toxic players i have encountered all have extremely low gamerscore.

The assumption i have is that players who do not utilize game sharing or only have one console, have said console set as their home xbox (as it should be) on their primary xbox account. Any content that has been purchased on that account, can be accessed by any gamertag/account on that same xbox (since its set to being the home xbox). The issue being that users can create an endless supply of smurf accounts, be as toxic as they want while obeying absolutely none of the rules outlined by MS terms of service, have access to all of their content (xbl, gamepass, ea access, any full digital purchase etc.), while being at zero risk of losing any of said content. Again this is just my assumption, but i do feel it is likely that it is taking place on some scale.

Wow. Calling me 6 years old? That's an embarrassing reply.

Well, suggesting that giving people something to do so that they don't feel a need to treat others like shit rather ignores the fact that *people shouldn't need to be distracted so they don't treat others like shit*. Saying, if there was more to do people wouldn't need to create their own fun is fine, but let's remember, the "fun" here is people running around pretending to kill gay people. Not giving the homophobes something to do is not the core problem here.

what the hell kind of response is this?? nice job downplaying the homophobia though the real victims are surely these bigots because the game "doesn't give them meaningful things to do" it's almost as if you're completely missing the point. And the argument that "there will always be bigotry and hatred so there's nothing you can do about it" is the laziest most cowardly excuse I've ever heard. Gamers were a mistake

The task offered for you to do, like hunting down other people, as dictated by the game's own PVP rules?

What on EARTH are you talking about?

I'm sorry, people don't act like this if there's a lack of stuff to do; it's inherent in some people all the time to be complete and utter idiots.
They always have been and always will be, it's how we deal with them that'll matter most.

Disgusting. But let's not pretend this is a Fallout 76 problem. I've heard shit like this from nearly every single online game I've played where I could hear strangers.

It's gross and it's why I don't play with anyone but friends. Knowing this shit goes on makes me want to not play online games at all.

I understand Bethesda's insistence on referencing wars, tying into the "War Never Changes" theme. Some of the Quests referencing the Civil War seem to be educational-ish. It's interesting to explore important historical landmarks.

But did they seriously have to add Confederate cosplay... in a multiplayer game? It's like they don't understand the context behind the war they're trying to educate people about.

This is the exact behavior I imagined would be in Fallout 76 during the Bethesda conference.

Glad I skipped on this one. Will wait for the next single player fallout game.

Seriously, in this day and age (as a matter of fact, in ANY day and age) how in the fuck do people like this still exist? Like for fucking real, do they think it's a massive joke? What makes them think they're better than anyone else? I am just so sick and tired of reading this stuff... We are in 2 thousand and fucking 18 and still this shit is needing to be said.

Sorry for the language, but I used to work with a good friend of mine (a prominent LGBTQI+ community member who is actually building Australia's 1st LGBTQI+ retirement village in Australia called Linton Estate) and the stories he would tell me about the beltings he copped in his youth is heart breaking. Just last week he was telling me about the area he is building the retirement village in, the troubles he is having because of the homophobic residents and council people who will not allow him permits. It's quite literally killing him and it's not fucking fair. And it's all because he is gay and he is trying to help a segregated part of the community come together in a safe place.

Anyway, I didn't mean to get quite so upset, and I realize it's only in game, but honestly this shit has to stop. There are NO fucking excuses for this behavior and Bethesda eventually did the right thing.
The United States gave a bigot nuclear launch codes two years ago.

They couldn't get the game right, but atleast they got the ban right. One good thing about the mess that is Fallout 76.

Edit: "we felt it would be fun to offend them" Ah yeah, no better way to spend an evening. Fun memories, story to tell to grandkids when old.

It's shit like this that makes gaming in general look ridiculous and bad to the public. Games need to be taken more seriously but thats never gonna happen just gonna be labelled as a cesspit and time wasting activity only played by immature adults when these things happen.
I stopped playing online for the past 10 years with randoms because of things like this and its been a much better gaming wise as a result. I enjoy my own space and time for gaming not being suddenly thrust into a situation or lumped together with a group of random bigot imbeciles who feel privileged and are basically scum. How can anyone enjoy online gaming with people they don't know?

But the world will carry on and another similar incident will happen again. I'm just gonna trust my cat.

So, it's hard to tell just what the fuck you're saying but it's either, "If you just mind your own business they won't bother you" or "If there was a better game then people wouldn't grief."

Both notions are wrong and you're naive for thinking otherwise. That isn't how people work.

I bet a real life apocalyptic wasteland would be chock full of homophobic murder gangs and the like. So maybe Bethesda figured that this would just help with the suspension of disbelief.

Sony should get onto this and ban their PSN accounts. Online interactions are part of their network, how is this the kind of behavior they allow?
These fuckers should get reprimanded in real life, even. They're directly interacting with people here.

The theme of the game, ostensibly, is to help each other out, and to survive together. Without spoiling much, it's sort of the thing that the main quest drives home more than anything else - the notion that collaboration is key to everyone's survival in the new world. The game's mechanics try to enforce this thought (somewhat poorly) by making it so that you become 'wanted' (aka a state where anyone can do full damage to you in PVP at any time, you're marked on the map, and there's ingame incentive to deal with you) if you attack other players or wantonly destroy their things. Of course, that's not going to keep people from roleplaying fucked up people - I mean, shit, I've been playing as a man who wears an incredibly creepy clown mask and a straight jacket, and I often fast-travel back to the vault just so I can stand behind new players all creepy-like while they're loading into Appalachia for the first time, so that I'm the first thing they see when they first load into Appalachia (I also give those new players tons of free loot and verbal encouragement over mic, every time, so I get a pass lmao) - but I wouldn't go as far as to say the game encourages fucked-up roleplaying with its design. If you choose to play as a pvp-happy raider, you and your camp are constantly vulnerable.
