And don't forget the hd-rumble, it's top tier too.

So you're digging it too Arturo? Saw you playing it a bunch, hoped anyone that picked it up felt it was worth it.

I fucking love HATING this game. It's so tense, so irritating, and so spot on with the feelings of anxiety it creates through its rock solid, yet exaggerated situations. It reminds me of so many times spinning my own tires in mud or snow.

And really, that's surprising that there's no snow.... Maybe a sequel/DLC? I'd buy it!!

I just did that jeep mountain climb challenge lasted two minutes, after flipping over a few times, and sweat like it was an hour of gameplay. So fucking intense!!!!!

Love those horns and fumes!

I picked up: Celeste, the Messenger, Dead Cells, the Way, & Sonic 1 during the sale. Was going to do a lil write up on the games but I just want to say that so far the messenger has been a huge disappointment (i'm at the searing crag). Im a big fan of the old ninja gaidens and retro platformers and so far this feels really bland and way overpriced.

I loved The Messenger, but it's really not like Ninja Gaiden much at all, despite appearances. And it becomes even less like NG as the game progresses.

Yep, I felt the same about The Messenger. Wrote a post about it a few days ago. It doesn't have the challenge of the games that inspired it, nor does it have particularly fresh or engaging level design. Making it look like Ninja Gaiden was a mistake, since it just led to disappointment.

I felt the same after a few hours of trying to like it. The gameplay didn't have the same precision or clever level design of NG, and the dialog was obnoxiously modern day. I was really excited for it months ahead, then archive, archive, archive.

The humor is definitely my least favorite part of The Messenger. I have a really big problem with video game humor built around referencing other works and breaking the fourth wall. Things like this should be subtle and mainly used as easter eggs. One of the few games where this style of humor totally worked on me was Double Dragon Neon.

Anyone know anything about Coffee Crisis? Out tomorrow. Looks like it could be quite interesting.
I posted some gameplay a week or so ago. It's okay. Nothing special. I think I prefer Raging Justice to it, but Coffee Crisis does have a pretty nice soundtrack and interesting in-game systems with the modifier concept.

Personally I felt the first half was the weakest part of the game. Once it opened up, the structure of the levels and its design sensibilities made more sense in relation to mid/late game abilities.

The Ninja Gaiden comparisons did the game no favors though as it really isn't comparable beyond surface level aesthetics. Largely the fault of the dev and marketing for bringing those expectations themselves, but I found my interest improved in the back half.

Huh, Mario and Rabbids is pretty cool. Its like a casual (so far) little strategy game. Is that Extra Health Y thing before the fight begins an easy mode or something? It gives you a lot of health lol. I dont mind using it sometimes if I feel like just chilling with the game I guess.

That R-Type 1+2 collection is gooood. Love when you can switch back and forth on the fly between the new and old graphics in these games.

And speaking of dungeon crawlers, The Keep is coming to Switch next month:

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/20..._arrives_on_switch_just_in_time_for_christmas

Anyone played it on the 3DS? Is it good?

I enjoyed the 3DS version very much, although some of the dungeon designs can be a bit obtuse. I can't recommend it to people who don't like first-person dungeon crawlers, specifically ones of the real-time variety, but if you do like those, then you should try this game.

hmmm yeh those Atelier prices are slightly better than expected (£34.99/£79.99 in UK)
probably going to get Totori as it's the one I really want to replay, then pick the others up in a sale next year.

That's fantastic...I just wish it was posted somewhere.

Brings the price down to $50ish depending on the discount. Same as the physical. :|

Yup. It's great.

But I was quickly reminded all over again that I really suck at R-type. I always have. I don't know what it is about these games but they kick my ass.

Fortunately I don't really mind! I just keep playing and getting slightly better and it's great.

Good version of the games and that discount price is awesome.

Was playing Switch right before heading to sleep and I dreamt that a system update added folders and new themes, lol. Nintendo get on this!

I am LOVING it. It's got some good video options too, although I am running it in traditional graphics with no filters for now. Such a good game that holds up beautifully.

I feel so lucky at the moment, OutRun and R-Type on my Switch, it really is turning into my favourite gaming system.

Anyone got any impression of Marenian Tavern Story: Patty and the Hungry God. Trying to decide if it's worth buying for my wife. She loved Stardew and is just finishing up Yonder now.

Picked up Sonic Mania during the sale. What a pleasant surprise that game is. It feels just like the Sonic games that I remember from when I was a kid. Sonic 3&Knuckles is a huge piece of nostalgia for me, and this feels like that but new. It's really neat.

The lack of editorial in some of these recent game of the day posts (which I have actually really appreciated a lot in the past) is kinda disappointing :/ If it's going to just be copy pasted back-of-the-box feature list kind of stuff, maybe scale back to game of the week or something... At the very least an opinion or impression blurb is needed. There's no indication that you have even played Prison Architect or Fallout Shelter or that it's even worth playing/buying.

I may be wrong but I think they're just pulled from the EU eshop, which has a game of the day section. So it's Nintendo selecting the game and the publisher writing the copy most of the time.

Fitness Boxing was just added in the coming soon section. A game by Imagineer and published by Nintendo (at least here in Europe). Release 21 December and there is a Demo.
I downloaded the demo and tried it a bit. I really liked it to be honest, and I've been wanting another WiiFit like game for a while now, but it never came.

Can any of you comment on Abzu's performance on Switch? Particularly in the ending sequence?

Can't comment on that yet, since I just tested it a bit yesterdays. It seemed to run well, the little I played. However, it doesn't support HD Rumble, which I thought was a missed opportunity for this kind of game.

Just added it to my wish list yesterday. Might have to jump on it, now.

It does look so good.

It's great, highly recommended, love the combat system and everything is just so fluid and fast paced, it's great fun, looking forward to some local co-op with the wife. Great soundtrack and pixel art as well. It's so cheap as well just picked it up with gold points. There is also a bunch of unlockable characters.

Is this game good ? I'm under the impression that it is quite short, is it ?
It is short but uses the time the best it can. You can complete it in a single setting in a bit over 2hrs. The gameplay is exploration of an area, collecting shining gems, some clunky controls/platforming, and finding dig sites that uncover additional narrative details. The story of the game hit close to home for me, but it may not be something everyone connects with, as it is rather depressing and some of the dialogue can make you cringe.

i dug the messenger. I get that the humor isnt for everyone, but it certaintly made me lol often. and that changeup in gameplay towards the the middle of the game is kinda a bummer, but its not so bad when you ask the shop keeper to tell you where to go. great game, 8/10

Is there some depth to it? I looks great, I just hope there's more than just cool looks. The two reviews on metacritic on the xbox one version doesn't seem to hot.

The permanent discounts are mentioned in the store entries for the respective title. It's the same price as the physical release when combined with the upside you don't have to commit to all titles at once.

That is an upside that the price ends up being the same.

The second game's store entry has no information on a discount if you own the first, which is disappointing if a discount actually exists.
