Just give me a yes or no answer, but are there any new bosses in the update that aren't just the EX ones and the three mage sisters at once?
Unlocks a new difficulty where you fight all the new bosses + the true final boss.
Yes
The credits of the new mode lets you briefly fight Marx
Is the Kirby escalation here the fact his eyes are hollowed out, ghost-like? Creepy to the max.
They didn't have time for such things when making these....passable level designs. It's times like these where I wish Star Allies had online coop
they play just like the main game, but instead of kirby you're playing as one of the enemies thay kirby can clone, or one of the 12 "dream" friends that are characters from past kirby games. So for the post game stuff, where you play as the different characters, do those levels require co-op/forced CPU co-op like in the main game? If not, are they shortened remix type levels or more or less identical levels? I think the post game stuff I'm referring to is called the Guest Star mode. I've only played into the first part of W2 in the main game but couldn't get into it compared to past Kirby games, the forced co-op in SP and the regular co-op in MP were not enjoyable to me, at least not by that point.

they can be played solo or co-op like the main mode, but even when played solo you need to heart-friend enemies to get through the levels (for the "puzzles")
the regular enemies you play as have basically the same exact levels to go through. it's a shorter version of the game, with levels from each of the world themes, they each have a few chapters and take like an hour to go through.
the dream friends have slightly different level designs and more exciting move sets, again each of them will take an hour.
and i agree, the forced co-op is not good. it's one of the worst design decisions that i've seen in a video game in a long time, it basically ruins (at least for me) what could have been a cute short relaxing platformer and makes it something exhausting to look at and a chore to play through.
like "oh hey, here's this non-puzzle in this completely un-designed level and you need a freind to solve it but don't worry the friend is right here before the puzzle so through a heart at him and then combine powers and then repeat in a minute and a half". playing this right after tropical freeze was a big mistake cuz in this game the lack of good level design and challenge just slaps you in the face, and i'm not saying every platformer needs that level of challenge or that amount of excellence in level design, but at least don't ruin the game's cute and easy vibe with this bs friend mechanic.
sorry if i'm ranting, this is like the 10th time i'm doing this when talking about star allies, something about this game just deeply bothers me.
i don't hate it, i had fun playing the main mode and i've played a bit of the other modes as well, it's just that i find the friend mechanic such a bad design decision that makes the game much worse than it could have been without it.
Thanks!

and for once the bosses are designed around having 4 characters. They have all their properties beefed up but the important part is they now have actual health so you get to see them do their full attack patterns. There were attacks that I only know their previous versions had because I watched a solo run through soul melter, they can be pretty involved when you're not barreling through the HP bars three times as fast.i don't hate it, i had fun playing the main mode and i've played a bit of the other modes as well, it's just that i find the friend mechanic such a bad design decision that makes the game much worse than it could have been without it.
i'm having fun with the another dimension, it's actually got some decent level design in it (the part with the train in the second chapter was well done).
I just beat it with 110 hearts myself, I, uhhhh look forward to seeing people try this solo without abilities. I don't think I'll be touching Soul Melter Extra any time soon, though, I had enough trouble with Soul Melter WITH Marx

-Wave 2 characters (Adeleine & Ribbon, Dark Meta Knight, and Daroach) have significantly more new areas and feel like their own unique runs. I assume the new characters in Wave 3 follow the same trend, but I haven't played them to know yet.
This game was great to begin with, and has only gotten more awesome over time. If you like Kirby and haven't picked it up yet, you really should!
The 30 FPS is a bit of a bummer, but overall it's a really fun game.I was a bit put off by the hectic nature of the demo and thought it was a shame it ran at 30fps as it felt a little sleepy to me :/
Why was Whispy Woods kicking my arse?! oh my god there's so much shit on the screen, send help.
and there's some noticeable frame drops in the new mode when there's too much going on on the screen. don't remember seeing anything like that before in the game.
yeah i noticed it there, and also in the part where you're at playing as rick, kine and coo and there's a part with like 15 tree stumps on fire. seems like the engine can't handle too many effects on the screen at the same time.It gets noticable at the 3 Mage sister fight during the second half of the battle. There's just a lot of things going on at once and the frames noticeably drops.
Is this game worth the entry point now? I enjoyed the 3DS games.
The puzzles have nice synergy with the guest star routes, at least. Completing the waves as they came out (spread out a bit of course) and then going back to do a few others here and there, completes the puzzles in no time.Finished it, the new mode and Soul Melter EX, and yes the mages are super OP lmao
Maybe someday I'll complete all the puzzles but there is so much of them haha.
The true final boss in Arena + flavor text is really interesting, and that dying animation that was creepy.
Oh yeah I gotta do the new dream friend stages. I'm at 9 completed iirc so still a long way to go,The puzzles have nice synergy with the guest star routes, at least. The mages' route in particular just showers them on you, you'll probably finish one and be a few from the end
There's nothing wrong with that. Nintendo knows they have evergreen titles that keep selling, so free post launch support means that "late" adopters get a more complete package from the get go, making it more appealing considering the likelihood that the price hasn't dropped .While free post-launch support is appreciable, I think more and more about waiting before buying Nintendo exclusives nowadays. Between this, Splatoon, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 etc. many of their games got significant free updates during the first 6 months or so.
I guess you could say it's like a bunch of successive challenge rooms.
Lol that would be incredible
Definitely noticed it there. Game was totally shitting itself.yeah i noticed it there, and also in the part where you're at playing as rick, kine and coo and there's a part with like 15 tree stumps on fire. seems like the engine can't handle too many effects on the screen at the same time.
Sounds alright. Thx!I guess you could say it's like a bunch of successive challenge rooms.
The segments all share the same dimensional vortex backdrop, they take you through each kirby power up and dream friend, so you start off with a door that makes you fighter kirby, then the next segment is Bandana Dee, then Dedede etc.
These are dolled out in 4 main chunks based around the DLC character waves (so the second chunk of rooms was DL2 trio, Marx and Gooey) with 30 collectable hearts in each chunk, these end with a really souped up version of a previous boss and you save your progress afterwards.
you can play any of them you want, they're all unlocked, except for the very last on.Camjo-Z mazi AnonymousApple Thanks all for the detailed info on the game and its extra modes. I really appreciate it. Once I beat the game once, can I play any of the guest characters' mode? Or do they get unlocked in succession?
