Demo was just for folk who paid for the premium edition. I'm not sure if it will get a wide release down the road or not.
Mutant has been long a very fabled RPG here in Sweden, one of the big classics next to Drakar och Demoner (Dragons & Demons). Mutant Chronicles is actually a spin-off of a spin-off of Mutant called Mutant R.Y.M.D (S.P.A.C.E) that was more Mad Max-ish style post-apocalypse with mega corporations fighting over Earth and the Solar System. Mutant have always been this game set in a "after The Great Catastrophe" Sweden, where mutated people, animals, intelligent rouge machines and more have been rebuilding in the ruins of Swedish cities (something that made it a lot more familiar to people than most post-apoc RPGs set in the US back then).Always was interested in the tabletop game, cause this is a prequel to the Mutant Chronicles games. But don't remember the odd character designs like the duck and fox dudes.... they were literally more like 40k mutations on humans.
They have been part of the Mutant game for much longer in previous editions. Genlab Alpha however focused on them mostly for the latest Year Zero edition of the game, but I believe the core book have rules for them as well.

The original inspiration came from Jack Kirby's Kamandi.
From a later-revision of the Mutant UA rule-book:
"Kamandi är en knasig tecknad serie av Jack Kirby, där talande djur härskar över världen
i en nära framtid. Lite av en fabel, men ändå inte. Därifrån tog vi idén
till de muterade djuren [...]"
Got excited when I saw this thread only to find out it's one of those games you get to play some days earlier if you pay more. Ugh.
Oh well, looking forward to some impressions. Very interested in the game.
From what I've read, the Early Access is even for preorders of the Standard Version, which you can get for even cheaper than normal on GMG. It isn't Deluxe exclusive:

So, despite the wording, this is just effectively out tomorrow on PC right, don't need to "preorder" it today, I can say, wait for people to play it for 12 hours and buy it the next day and get instant access?

That's what I thought too but it looks like the 3 day head start is also for the regular edition.
So you're not paying more just need to preorder.
You don't even have to preorder. That early access is, apparently, going to be available up to December 4th; the PC release is essentially today.
This is one of those games where hard difficulty, not normal, is tagged as the "intended experience". Always comes across weird to me.

Can anyone else confirm that you can start playing today if I were to purchase the regular edition now (after early release)?
I pre-ordered the DE thinking I would need to pay the extra cash to play over the weekend.
I might do a refund and grab the regular edition if I don't need the DE to play over the weekend.
Pre-order the Standard Edition and get a three-day head start. Pre-order the Deluxe Edition and get a three-day head start + instant access to the demo now.
Can you go into more detail?X-ploration is a genre I never knew I needed but this feels pretty great.
Posted above but the official twitter says you should be good.
Also from the Steam page:
How's the game outside of combat? Is there a town or hub for interaction? Also how's customization? Can you change equipment and do they show?
It feels great to have stealth and exploration in an xcom like game. Plus in Xcom and Battletrch it was a bit annoying to be limited by the grid movement even outside of combat. I understand it being there in Phantom Doctrine as you are basically outside of combat for whole game if you play it ideally.
I loved it but it does have repetitive missions. The unique thing about the game is that depending on whether you play as KGB or CIA you get different characters in story and the start is different too. And once you finish you unlock a third faction that gives out even more explosion to the story. It's a cold war soy game and you actually get to be a spy so that's cool. IIavoided combat for almost all the game as it's a bit shit due to how peeking works in that game. So even if you're fully in cover visually, you can get shot due to the fact that the peeking mechanics mean even the tiles adjacent to you are "hitboxes" and all an enemy needs is one of those times in Line of sight to hit you since the game has no random hit chance (it's always 100% hit but you can improve your skill to dodge/graze bullets). This is the entire reason you have those GIFs of people getting shot through wall. How as Phantom Doctrine? Its on my list but the reviews are kinda mixed.
