You've pretty much summed up why S3 is my favorite. I don't think I could have scripted it any better. I think my favorite episode was the Constellation Game, though the Miner Game was my favorite game in general. Here's my post on it:

And now... onto the final season. The first episode of that shit still gives me chills.
I didn't like S3E7 that much because the game itself was rendered useless right off the bat. Still, Dongmin torturing them was amazing to watch.

I can't wait to see more of Dongmin and Hyunmin now that their S3 dynamic is gone.

Well S2E6 sure was something
Honestly, that was really disappointing. That was something more out of Survivor than the classy show I was promised. And the way YooYoung got angry after it looked for a moment like she had been picked for the death match, made me really hate her. Girl, you would absolutely have deserved that after what you did. Don't act like a victim in this situation.

In the end, Doohee was an idiot for trusting Jiwon in the death match. So I guess it was fair that he lost it. But I can understand sort of wanting to self-destruct and just get out of the GSM after what he had just experienced.

Anyway, I don't like how nearly all elimination rounds this season have been focused on having allies. They've been more like an elaborate Survivor elimination vote than a duel of wits. Again, not quite what I signed up for.
This episode made them cut back on that type of death match big time in the following seasons, so I think you'll be happy in the end :P

Also, I forgot to mention it in my previous post, but

The death match draft is the best way to handle it. I'm very satisfied with that.

Edit: Oh yeah!

Also forgot to mention how sublime the player introductions were, with all of their victory/elimination songs in the background <3

Because you're already familiar with each of the players in S4, it automatically becomes the wildest ride of all.

I do wish Ahyoung replaced Jungmoon and Sunggyu replaced Junseok. Then it would've been a perfect cast; Ahyoung was one of my favorites in S3, and Sunggyu's just a lot more likable than Junseok, but his schedule was probably loaded.

(In Mafia threads it's not unusual for someone to post like 8 times in a row, haha.)

Yeah... Now that I think of it, those would've been improvements as well. More Sangmin/Sunggyu would've given me life. But I still think Jungmoon and Junseok are fun players.

anyway S2E7
was a much better episode than the last

the main game was really fun, and this was the most fitting way to take jinho down lol. in the end, 2 was his unlucky number. and jiwon played the death match in the way that would give him the best chance to beat jinho. his strategy for the death match (leave it all to luck) was a sound one against a better player, so i don't feel it's wrong he won by luck. i still hate him after episode 6 tho

I can't believe how good and painful this season already is. It feels like anyone can come up with a ridiculous plan or find out something absurd about the rules at any given moment.

A death match with two champions, a runner-up, and a third place. The highest stakes possible. Goddamn.

I think I'll be sad after every single elimination :/

S3E8:
I feel like Dongmin and Hyunmin are just taking advantage of the two remaining ladies because neither of them are standing up for themselves and just letting Dongmin's threats bully them into joining his side.

I want to like Ahyoung but she's been annoying ever since episode 2 and I'm glad she's gone because it feels like she hasn't really been a player at all.

S4E3 has the kind of development that I can't imagine even the producers saw coming.

C'mon Zeroro ya gave it away for Brazil :(
Nah, I'm being as vague as possible! It's early enough to where a lot of unexpected stuff could happen.

It'd be pretty hard to narrow it down with the amount of people still competing at that point.

S3 spoilers:
Dongmin totally won me over by the end, though I'm still not a fan of how barely anyone tried to break up his alliance with Hyunmin.

S4E1 spoiler:
Kyunghoon is such a fucking little shit. Why was he even invited back? I think I hate him the most out of the S4 cast, though what Sangmin did was really shitty too.

3 episodes deep into S4:

Kyunghoon is seriously such a piece of shit and I question why he was allowed back on the show. It's only fitting that he somehow managed to take out Sangmin in the death match after Sangmin stupidly betrayed all the other contestants for twice. I like Sangmin but as the show said in the beginning, victory cannot be achieved the same way.

I have to say, the look on Dongmin's face when Junseok's order was fried rice was priceless and now I wish we had gotten to see more of him in S1. Effing Jinho betraying him in the first season.

This season is great. Kind of sad since this is it... :(

Never watched S4, not sure I watched S3, definitely watched S1, and then S2 as it was airing. Feel like I did watch S3 maybe... I wish there were more shows like this. The others like Crime Scene etc are too scripted for me.

Watched S1 until halfway through S3 ages ago and recently rewatched every episode with a buddy. It's so much more intense if you watch it with a friend who is as invested in the games and participants as you are.
We're finishing up S4 next week. Can't wait to see how it all plays out.

Hyunmin my boy chugging along nicely. I was a little sad when his alliance with Dongmin faded away starting with episode 9.
Kyunghoon is fucking crazy. Didn't really like him at first but boy did I gain respect for him along the way.
The pinnacle was during episode 10 when they played coop poker and he told his friend to fold five times in a row to not lose any of his garnets.
Kyunghoon is just sitting there laughing his ass off while his partner does exactly as he is told. When his partner realized that he would have won a bet with three 9s he was devastated while Kyunghoon was losing his shit.
He truly is one crazy genius. Bless him.

S4 Full Spoilers:

So despite what I said about Kyunghoon in the beginning, I did gain respect for him as the season progressed and he seemed to loss his joke character/troll image more. Sangmin really shouldn't have saved him though. I would've really liked to have seen Sangmin and Dongmin competing over forming alliances through the rest of the season.

I really didn't like the partner stuff, it felt super slow and not exciting. My boy Jinho got done dirty. I'm just glad the Dongmin x Hyunmin alliance didn't last the entire season. The second to last episode where Dongmin figured it out but if he had the 100,000 amount and tied with Kyunghoon then Hyunmin would've automatically gotten the round and the game was spectacular.

Respect to Dongmin for continuing to play in G2 of the Grand Finals even though he could've just not answered. I have to admit, when he answered and got one wrong and gave Kyunghoon a small glimmer of hope it made for a dramatic moment. Fuck that game though, I don't think I would be good at it on the fly like that.

Season 3 is getting really good

i love the chemistry between dongming and ahyoung. it's really hilarious lol

episode 8 was really funny with
everyone trying to lose the main game, and the dongmin team failing to do so. and then death match is hilarious with ahyoung having another of her MENTAL BREAKDOWNS. i'll miss her, on the show, but she went out in a really appropriate way for her, lol
then episode 9 is really fun too with
gayeon nuna, who is absolutely amazing, and yeonseung getting revenge in the middle race. dumb yuhyun going back and forth between alliances obviously puts him in the death match, where he severly underestimates yeonjoo, who completely outplays him while it's his turn to get a MENTAL BREAKDOWN
really good stuff

Oh my God

THIS LINE-UP

I think if they'd switched Kyunghoon with Yeonjoo it's be literally perfect, even though having Kyunghoon in there already paid off, hahaha.

On one hand, yessssssss. On the other, literally every single death match will be heartbreaking. Junghyun :(

But I'm so hyped. Holy shit.

This episode already had everything. Kyunghoon immediately fucking everything up. Yohwan immediately getting screwed up. Sangmin being Sangmin. Jinho getting pissed at the mess around him because people can't keep together. Yoohyun noticing Sangmin's sleight of hand.
haha i just watched this episode (S4E1=

it was fun how at least three
different betrayal schemes were running simultaneously, with various degrees of success, with of course sangmin being the best at it

Rewatching Season 1, reminds me how great Kyungran is

And how utterly screwed over she was during the 5:5 Game

How's The Great Escape? It looks like most of the episodes have been subbed at this point.

It's really funny! My wife and I call it "Idiot Crime Scene" because the staff really goes over the top to provide a crushing escape building every two episodes, but the hosts are generally meatheads with a strong sense of fear.

I think it would have been better to have both genders on the cast, but at least the guys they have are the right mix of funny and ridiculous.

After not watching The Genius since this day:
Episode 6 made me put season 2 on hold. I was so pissed off.
I found myself rewatching the entirety of S1 this week. It holds up well on a rewatch even when you know all the twists, with very few exceptions.

I started S2 tonight... I can't believe I'm gonna watch episode 6 again, lol.

Thought you folks might like what my SO made me for our anniversary:

Hand painted box, poker chips, garnets (in the form of red dice), and enough hand drawn cards to play 1-2-3 game Main Match and Indian Poker death match

So happy :)

That's awesome. Was there at any point official merchandise for the show in that kind of vein? I feel like they would've made bank at the peak of the show's popularity.

That's pretty awesome.

I legit wish they had official merch of playing cards, chips, and garnets. Would buy the hell out of them.

I lost it when Dongmin appeared. It seems like he'll be slyly working with and/or against them, lmao. Don't know how they'll top that in the final escape room.
