When you're to the point where you're considering shit released by the marketing team spoilers, it's your own fault for being on the internet in the first place, and especially a video game message board.

Pretty much. It's like if you're that big of a fan that you have gone completely dark on a game, you should still want the marketing to do its job so that it has the potential to sell better. Asking people to bury this kind of stuff is ridiculous.

Should someone undergoing media blackout to avoid spoilers for a single game include avoiding logging into ResetERA entirely too? I don't think its unreasonable to expect someone to avoid checking or reading the official twitter feed or OT that doesn't want to be spoiled, but to avoid the entire forum for this sort of thing?
I mean we have like three major active threads discussing this game on the front page, including one specific to Blade reveals. I know this news is exciting and it is part of the PR plan to reveal it, but I also think this could have been tucked away in the already very active threads. I am not bothered by this reveal, but I get it for those that are.
Actually, I have avoided trailers and footage for Star Wars, I'd be goddamn pissed if I checked the OT side and saw some big character reveal spoiled in a thread title after so much effort to go in blind.
I mean at this point, it's a reason to get people that are on the fence to get it at launch, and it's part of the marketing PR. Me finding out now hypes me up to find her in game, instead of me probably never finding her or knowing about her till much later.

They only revealed half the rare blades you can get, apparently. So this is basically the finisher before launch.

Half the Rare Blades in the game have -not- been revealed prior to release. Additionally, more rare blades are going to be added as DLC in the future. So there will definitely still be surprises.
It's not really a media blackout if you're still going to places where others are going to be freely discussing that media. Yes, it's on you to avoid things that aren't spoilers.
I was just thinking how farfetched it would be to include KOS-MOS in this game. Couldn't remember being more elated to be proven wrong!

But really, if we believe "it has been officialy shown so we can talk about it everywhere", then we can also create threads with every details from trailers/directs/commercials.
And considering you can stop videos and analyse each frames, there's not much difference with just already knowing everything.
I'm so disgusted I couldn't discover that while playing. It would have been awesome. Now I know and I'm not even excited about it. Way to kill the hype less than 10 hours before I play at home.

It's cute that they went through the effort of licensing her. It's like the parents are divorced, but Monolith got visitation rights.
In the 65 hours I played the game I never saw or pulled her, and then I saw her name blatantly listed in the ending credits at the top of the Rare Blade voice credits, so I knew she in the game as a blade.
Soooo if it's any consolation to you guys, if you don't unlock her before beating the story you were gonna get spoiled by her existence anyway, unless you also "go dark" on game credits :P.

As far as spoilers go, I'm in the "Officially announced=Not spoilers" but I do feel for the people on total blackout. I mean I was spoiled by Xenoblade X by a trailer that really had no place being in a trailer

How dramatic. This isn't a real spoiler. She has nothing to do with the narrative. Isn't it exciting just to know she's there and will have her own side story?
Think about all of the people who are seeing this news and are now more interested in the game because of it, potentially even buying it day 1 where they otherwise wouldn't have. Multiple people in this topic have stated their intent to do just that.
Isn't it good for the sake of this game performing even better and hopefully ensuring future entries in the franchise?

Not all of the Voice actors are british. The main party primarily is, but the enemies from Torna and Pyra all have American voices. No reason Kos-Mos can't have her usual VA.

Don't put BIG NEWS in titles. I reported that, it's just normal.
How hard would it be to write something vague like "Xenoblade 2 - New very interesting rare blade (spoilers)" or whatever.

No it's not exciting now. It'll probably come back little by little while playing but now in my head I'm just thinking : "Ok she's here at some point... waiting... waiting, until she appears, there she is... as expected".
If people needed that to buy the game, it doesn't make sense anyway. And no, I don't care if it creates more sales, especially as I'm sure you can see this news on every websites (which is why I was only coming here).
But I'll just stop. My mistake for thinking it was safe.

Video recording was locked, but I did take screenshots of the end credits (particularly voice cast as I was interested in that). I'll have to wait for the embargo to lift before I could share them though, just to be on the safe side.

The discussion is happening in threads one is not visiting(ie. avoiding the threads with words Xenoblade 2). Yes there are always risks for big reveals, but again its not unreasonable to keep discussion isolated. Yet you are blaming the victim that stumbled upon the news unwillingly(ie. NOT checking the official twitter feed where the news originated or the labeled threads) but I'm at fault because I was within earshot of some guy on a megaphone. Cmon now.
