It's not just forum users.

The frenzy that happened on Twitter and all over social media is what prompted Rocksteady to do a response. I mean there were actual famous people excited for it who tweeted about it. It was trending at #1. I think that's enough to invest in a Superman game.

Again, a few thousand internet peeps and some celebrities, got it.

It was kind of hilarious, because they canceled Suicide Squad to focus on singleplayer games starting with Damian Wayne, and then 3-4 months later, canceled Damian Wayne to focus on games as a service online games.

You can tell how much the management transition caused massive thrashing at Warner Bros (both these decisions were the mostly new management IIRC).
How weird that the same publisher scooped up the Hitman franchise. The Damien Batman game could've easily fit the bill for both single-player content and ongoing content updates much how Hitman 2 seems to be aiming to do.

That said, I do remember when Arkham Knight was supposed to have ongoing content through the "Season of Infamy" updates, but that ended up becoming just a single thing released at once.

- TGAs wrapping up after a bunch of lackluster announcements
- Geoff says "Oh yeah and we've got one final surprise for you"
- Lights and screens start "glitching" out, everything goes dark
- Intro theme plays
- Cryptic characters start raining down similar to the films
- Embedded is code for "Rocksteady next gen"
- Thunderous applause and insta-nuts

I just want to know if it's narrative-driven SP or MP-focused. Please be the former.

If I'm not mistaken, the Matrix IP is at Monolith, who is owned by WB. So, hopefully they're done with LoTR and have moved back to that.

Don't give me false hopes. I think the license is dead and buried. As far as I know, even the Wachowskis don't want anything to do with it anymore.

Every publisher needs their best studio making a big GaaS.

Bad trend that needs to end.

That one was actually targeting to get progressively more online over time, starting with the co-op modern and the competitive mode in Hitman 2, and ramping from there according to IO, which is probably part of what sold Warner Bros on the idea.

Alright, Legion of Superheroes it is.

Superhero Destiny.

Titan -> Kryptonian
Hunter -> Speedster
Warlock -> Green Lantern

Well, they're hiring for QA people with extensive multiplayer testing experience, metagame designers, and network programmers, but also tons of scriptwriters and cutscene designers, so I'm guessing it's both online and heavily story driven.

I wonder if its a successor to DC Universe Online?

More than anything I don't think you'll be playing as actual named heroes. I'm thinking create-a-character since its a GaaS.

So basically it's yet another online driven GaaS game? Kind of hard to believe WB is making Rocksteady waste their talents on something like that but that's the industry we're in now.

In 5 years there won't be anyone left who's not making superhero online shit at this rate.

A few thousand forum users screeching about a nonexistant superman game is basis for a tens of millions of dollar investment ?

I mean. It's Superman. He's supposed to be one of their biggest characters ever. Certainly one of the most recognizable superheroes in pop culture. If you did a game about it, it would certainly be worth it if it were good. Don't act like this is...fucking Ultra the Multi-Alien. :P

Justice League or Teen Titans? Uhm...

what are u hidin?

Press Sneak Fuck already said it's not Justice League, both on the podcast and on Twitter

Oh you...

Jason's hint is super vague. He's saying it was always going to be "about superheroes". But I think more specifically Jason was saying it's about a group and not just one hero, like the Arkham stuff was.

Yeah, no one should expect further Matrix games. That IP is done.
There's people in Hollywood trying to bring it back. Zak Penn(writer of X2/Avengers) has been working and meeting with WB people to try and get some sort of reboot going. All those whispers will amount to something one day, just don't know how soon.

That being said, I don't think that will impact the making of a game, especially if it has a great concept, which I think Matrix lends itself well to games.

People keep saying its not Justice League, so my guess is that it's a just a generic 'DC Heroes' type name so they aren't bound by expectations and can just add in whoever they want through DLC.

you guys do realize Suicide Squad exists outside of the shitty movie right? Those posts bemoaning a possible SS game confuse me.

Obfuscating the argument for a point I didnt make. I said that multimillion decisions are probably not going to get made based on twitter fanfare. I never said they shouldnt make a Superman game.

You know I'm pretty sure Jason Schreier also straight out said that Starfield by Bethesda was bs and it wasn't happening and he knew nothing about it, so even though he has a good track record, he's not perfect.

I have literally never seen any person with enough fame to have a verified Twitter account say that they believe in a Rocksteady Superman game.

Young Justice is back because of Twitter fanfare, so you'd still be off base lol. You can write off Era, but I wouldn't recommend writing off a massive social media hub like Twitter.
