The hammiest voice acting this side of Symphony of the Night. Everyone should give this game a OPTICAL SHOT.

Great great game. Still too easy for my liking but they definitely increased the difficulty level which was massively appreciated.

It's a really great CV game. My second favorite of the GBA/DS ones after AoS. It's got a little bit of everything in it, and it thankfully does not rely on any of its gimmicks too much. You can approach it in many ways and won't be limited by silly DS hardware specific mechanics or pure rng based item/soul systems. Also, it isn't as difficult as most make it out to be, but it is challenging.

Currently going through it for the first time OP. I just reached the final boss.

It's the only Igavania I had not played and to be honest it's a very good game. The Boss design is excellent. It has some weird difficulty spikes though. You can just easily beat a boss and the regular enemy in the next room kills you. Bosses are pattern based so once you learn that said pattern you can easily beat them. Regular enemies can quickly overrun you and I find they do a lot of damage compare to the health you have.

The art work is some of the best you will find on DS. The sprites are very detailed and the enemy and boss design quite original.
Overall my rating for Igavanias would be:

AoS >> SOTN >> DoS >> OoE >> PoR >> HoD >> CotM

Not as good as the great sotn (nothing really is) but I love Shanoa's design. Those eyes!

Best Metroidvania title IMO, fairly easily with only the Soma Cruz titles coming close. I've only played all of them once, though.

There's a lot going for it that I love. The only reason I might put Portrait over it at all is that Portrait feels more like a traditional game in the series. It's different enough from everything else in the series that it feels like apples and oranges to draw these comparisons. The production is delightful; I love the . It was also a lot of fun getting all the boss medals. I think the game can be a little easy if you're going for 100%-ass 100% especially for the glyphs themselves, but the hard mode lv. 1 challenge definitely shows its teeth a lot.

Also, the training area is one of the best video game moments this side of Rocket Knight Adventures. It's nearly tragic you have to play through everything else to reach it.

I recommend it wholeheartedly.

So great pretty much everything, but uninteresting story and one of the most difficult Castlevanias.

Seems amazing, but think I might play some of the easier games before playing OoE then, looking forward to it though!

I adore it, don't know where it'd go with the other Igavanias, probably top three though? It's like Simon's Quest taken in the best direction it could've gone.

It was pretty good, but I wouldn't rank it among the best in the genre.

Wasn't a fan of the weapon system. Dual wielding was fun for a time but there was very little advantage to wielding two different weapons simultaneously as you were always penalized for the slower/stronger one - may as well dual wield hammers because a hammer and a knife is god awful slow.

I crave difficulty, so I enjoyed that, but I didn't care for the flow of the game. DoS was snappy all the way through while I felt there were a number of lulls in OoE, particularly after boss fights.

Shanoa is gorgeous. Quite possibly the most beautiful female character in gaming. Her being clothed head to toe (her dress was backless, but her raven hair flows far beyond it anyway) makes that much more significant. Block of wood personality though. Story reasons, sure, but it was annoying.

I wished they would bring them over to the switch. Would buy them all. Come on home, Castlevania.

It's a really good, HARD, Castlevania game that distils the best parts of Classicvania as well as give a slice of Metroidvania
towards the end
.

Probably my favorite of the DS Castlevania games aesthetically and my second favorite in gameplay.

Yeah it's probably my favorite of the post Rondo games. All of the SOTN-games are generally very good, but Ecclesia remains my favorite.

Definitely my favorite Castlevania. It's basically Simon's Quest except done the right way, and I really enjoyed it. It also provided a much more satisfactory challenge than many of the prior Metroidvania titles, which I think is great.
