Even you, the one who would crash whole threads by posting too many Yakuza songs, have forsaken me
I'm just being realistic. Tetris Effect literally would not work without its music. Like that thing lives and dies on its music.
never bring up music DM goes ham.
Yes. When I finish Red Dead 2 I'll be making a huge ass list too. There are a lot of tunes in specific missions I already have written down so I go hunting for them when I beat the game.

I'm listening to the latest Devcast... I actually had to look up to see if the "Laura" who's guesting this week is Alexis' wife... She's a web designer in SF named Laura but it's not her.

For best music, I see Celeste, Octopath Traveler and Yoku all getting mentioned. Celeste has the best chance of those to make the music final 3 but the winner is gonna be RDR2 or Tetris Effect. Octopath deserves more love with its OST but only Dan put significant time into it.

I finished Celesete and Yoku and I honestly couldn't even describe the music in either. Literally no memory of it.

red dead is so good but it doesn't really strike me as goty... there is some amazing stuff narratively in that game, mostly from the grounded side content where you're just encountering these realistic figures who have been hardened by the way life was back then. the world-building (and visuals/animations) really works in the game's favor, and i truly love the way chapter 6 cinches everything together to make you feel like you've 'journeyed' with these characters and endured everything with them.. it's pretty powerful stuff

but conversely you have to actually endure the game itself -- like it takes forever to get to the 'moments' I consider great and almost all of the main missions are actually bad and v dated.. I'm super conflicted on this game -- it simultaneously gets so much right and so much wrong, which is why I feel like it's an odd pick for immediate goty

Jesus calm down guys... It's not like I had to dig to get some kind of personal or secret info... I've been following Alexis on Twitter for almost 10 years.... Big shock... Over that decade he mentionned that his girlfriend is a web designer...

Fuck...call the cops, I read a tweet from someone I follow

Give me a fucking break

Yoku had a very chill soundtrack ranging from tropical tunes to relaxing monk-themed music, or tunes for monks who specialize in launching rockets in outer space:

Celeste had piano music mixed in with electronic music for most of its tracks and for very few tracks, had vocals but not really lyrics. That's how I'd describe both those games' music.

This year has been fucking fantastic for OSTs from all genres. Seriously, I don't know what's gonna get top 3.

Even bad games have good music:

I will rep underappreciated (in this thread) soundtracks as some of my other favorites will already be repped

In terms of games that I both like the OST of and think can win, I'm still on the Pokemon Let's Go train. Orchestrated Pokemon is too good.

Jan, you're my only hope.

Oh also Wandersong is totally gonna be ignored for Best Music which stinks because the music in that game, also super good!

Here's another underrated OST!

Celeste is pretty good.

My favorite track. Love how much wonder and mystery it conveys. Build up is also real good.

I feel like the highs reach the stratosphere when it comes to story stuff. I am in full belief that the only reason chapter 6 is as good as it is, is because it took its sweet ass time with its characters and themes.
