"Well, this is probably my last rodeo because what I thought happened, and has happened, I never expected. I thought Rocky was over in 2006 [Rocky Balboa]. And I was very happy with that. Then all of a sudden this young man presented himself and the whole story changed. It went on to a new generation. New problems. New adventures. And I couldn't be happier as I step back because my story has been told, there's a whole new world that's going to be opening up with the audience, with this generation. Now you [pointing to Michael B. Jordan], have to carry the mantle."

Along with the video, Stallone added a thank you to the fans for sticking by his character for over forty years now and adds: "Sadly all things must pass…and end. Keep punching, I love you kind and generous people, and Rocky loves you, too."

I thought they were going to kill him off, like Mick in Rocky III. I mean one of the plot points of the first Creed was that he got cancer.

Rocky needs to be killed by a perfect clone of himself in his prime and then Adonis has to fight him to save professional boxing from an unbeatable champion. Then original Rock comes to Adonis in a vision after he's been knocked out for the third time in a row and gives him the ultimate pep talk along with his dad while Eye of the Tiger plays in the background and Paulie burns in Hell.

yeah, I thought too. It would have been poetic.

I hope he gets a send-off in Creed 3 at least. He can't just disappear like that.

Best movie franchise

Easy. God damn I guess that creed 2 ending was forreal then

Love that series but I dont really know how much I will like it without rocky. The best things about both flicks was the charming dynamic between Balboa, arguably the most likeable franchise character of all time, and Donny

He'll come back and they'll kill off Rocky for a historic cinematic gut punch. I can't imagine them doing something like that offscreen. Honestly they could bookend the series with that move alone or decide to try and do a 4th one.

I think that's exactly what happens. Either the character is just not shown, or they have something for him if there is a new film beyond his death.

Considering the themes of Creed and Creed 2, the obvious place to go in Creed 3 is Donnie having to win without his surrogate father in his corner. It's his last real obstacle as a character. Rocky's death would have to be the only way to get there, and while it could be done offscreen, I would personally like to see a mirror to the scene in Rocky 3 when Rocky loses his mentor, because Stallone sells the hell out of that scene and MBJ would, too.

If they don't kill him on screen then it just means potential to bring him back for any of the future movies

I will assume they'll kill him off early in the next movie. They can't just disappear him.

And god as a fanboy of Rocky 4 even moreso than Rocky 3...I LOVE CREED 2. It brought me straight back to like 5th grade when Rocky 4 first came out and it was a perfect sequel to that movie.

can't wait for Creed to train Rocky's granddaughter and his son and watch both of them have children when they get older and create a super champion of boxing
