Mod Edit: We do not provide a platform for Grace Randolph or her content here.
Sorry, had no idea.
She is absolutely, positively, completely wrong.

The dynamics of the Sony/Marvel relationship is very well known at this point. Sony owns absolutely no rights to spidey outside of film, and gave up merchandise rights several years ago.

This is a large part of why the Sony relationship wasnt toxic while the fox relationship WAS. Marvel cut all merchandising for the fox properties off completely to try to force a better deal.
Yeah, It was the first I heard of it when I watched that video earlier this morning because it was recommended to me so I wanted to make sure if it was true or not.

As much as I love the look of Aquaman & Bumblebee, I think Spider-Man has bigger momentum going in.

Mary Poppins is a real wild-card, though.

I think poppins is going for a different audience. It will do "fine" but not blockbuster numbers. Lack of overseas awareness is going to hamstring it.

One of Aquaman or Bumblebee is going to disappoint though...both of those launch the same day, and Spidey is going to have Amazing (lol) word of mouth.

Im betting on Bumblebee taking a hit. It looks interesting but the Transformers films have been so bad for so long i can only see the hardcore turning out unless it gets spectacular reviews.

Wow I was lowballing with the high 90s somehow. The perfect 100. We'll see if it holds. But very positive start.

Makes you wonder if the Oscars is actually not going to give Disney or Pixar the academy award for animation this year. Or if this will get snubbed like Lego Batman did (Really, Boss Baby and Ferdinand get nominations whilst Lego Batman doesn't?)

I see that Spider-Man brings good fortune somewhat.

Insomniac Games gets bigger with PS4 Spider-Man.

Venom smashed into $850 million box office.

And now Sony Pictures Animation with Spider-Verse.

Sony mismanaging the films from Spidey 3 through ASM2 somewhat obscured just how much of a juggernaut Spidey is as an IP.

Spidey was Marvel's biggest IP for a VERY long time, and had brand recognition and sales far past every other Marvel or DC hero combined.

I think this thread has outlived its usefulness, can mods close it in favor of a review/RT score thread? Penguin Slayven

So its a fun and goofy take on a normally semi-serious, mega-popular franchise with a hugely iconic character and it turned out really well.

I wonder if Star Wars will ever get a movie like that.

Got early tickets for Saturday. If it's really that good, might have to get Dolby Cinema tickets after that.
