We're mostly a medium where music is used to build atmosphere with subtle tones or bombastic tracks but a small handful of games feature full fledged lyrical pieces that completely dominate the moment. So, post 'em!

Tetris Effect is such a powerful game and a huge part of that is owed to its music. The opening song "Connected" is amazing in the context of the game but that version cuts out the majority of the lyrics. The version used in the credits, while still a little short, puts the song in an entirely new light. Take a listen:

I say this seriously.
T.M.Revolution and Abingdon Boys School never get enough credit for their works in video games

You can't have a thread like this without Far Cry 5.

And possibly the greatest musical non sequitur in videogames. You're running through a graveyard, being hunted by men with guns. And the closer you get to death, this song cuts in.

Get Even is a masterpiece.

Morizora's Forest
All NieR: Automata songs. Amazing thing about them is that it's an invented language being sang.
Nier and Nier: A are great choices. Gravity Rush also has its own language.

Laura Shigihara's songs in To the Moon and Rakuen come to mind immediately too. In fact Rakuen's plot focuses on helping others who in return teaches you a small song that becomes part of the song you need. I highly recommend this game if you're interested in songs and emotional impact in games. It is a short 9-13 hours

I remember reading that every time someone posts this song there are ninja cutting onions in the shadows. ;)

Supergiant have been good with them so far.

The latter track even has different vocals depending on the opposing team.

Nobody posted this yet? Shame on you

the only answer. Jump up superstar is the next.

That one in RDR2 really took me out of the game, especially how you can't apparently skip it.
My game crashed in the mission just after it and I had to replay that section, but if you manually steer the horse off the preset path, the song fades out and you don't have to listen.

I can't think of too many actual songs with lyrics from games I actually like.

then I remembered Katamari, Jet Set Radio, Gitarro Man, etc

and of course

This was a triumph!
I'm making a note here:
"HUGE SUCCESS!"

It's hard to overstate
My satisfaction.

Aperture Science;
We do what we must,
Because we can.

For the good of all of us.
Except the ones who are dead.

But there's no sense crying
Over every mistake.
You just keep on trying
Till you run out of cake.
And the science gets done,
And you make a neat gun
For the people who are
Still alive.

I'm not even angry...
I'm being so sincere right now -
Even though you broke my heart,
And killed me.

And tore me to pieces.
And threw every piece into a fire.
As they burned it hurt because
I was so happy for you!

Now, these points of data
Make a beautiful line.
And we're out of beta.
We're releasing on time!
So I'm glad, I got burned -
Think of all the things we learned -
For the people who are
Still alive.

(Go ahead and leave me...)
(I think I'd prefer to stay inside...)
(Maybe you'll find someone else
To help you?)
Maybe Black Mesa?
That was a joke! Haha! Fat chance!

Anyway this cake is great!
It's so delicious and moist!

Look at me; still talking
When there's science to do!
When I look out there,
It makes me glad I'm not you.

I've experiments to run.
There is research to be done,
On the people who are
Still alive.
And believe me I am
Still alive.
I'm doing science and I'm
Still alive.
I feel fantastic and I'm
Still alive.
While you're dying I'll be
Still alive.
And when you're dead I will be
Still alive.

Still alive.

Still alive.

One of my favourite Xenoblade pieces

Drifting Souls, One Last You and The Tomorrow With You from Xenoblade 2 are some of my favourites OST pieces ever for videogames, I often listen to them and every time I appreciate them more, also thanks to the presence of lyrics. The Xenoblade 2 OST absolutely deserved to be bought.

Several from Power Instinct Matrimelee.

Also, Rhapsodies of Vana'diel from Final Fantasy XI, which involves it's players singing for its story grand finale.
