on 11/27, twitter user pizzaparty531 posted a twitter thread showing speedrunners Graviton (who is scheduled to run Doom 64 during next AGDQ), RWhiteGoose, and others, talking about jordan peterson, women's inferiority to men, how awkward it would be to date a trans woman, how to not get caught while being an antisemite, etc, etc.

this is just the start of the twitter thread. i recommend checking the rest just so you can verify the extent of these guys's shittery.

just a couple of hours ago, Games Done Quick replied:

In response to the reports we received today, Games Done Quick has come to a decision.

At present, we are unable to independently verify the authenticity of the messages in the report. The reports were entirely represented by Discord screenshots of a private chat channel. It is unfortunately easy to modify Discord messages and usernames within the app, so independent verification is necessary when presented with evidence in this format.

It has been decided that we will not be taking further action at this time. Games Done Quick reserves the right to re-evaluate this decision in the future if additional evidence comes to light. In accordance with company policy, Games Done Quick will not comment on any individual enforcement actions, if they occur.

In closing, Games Done Quick wishes to remind everyone that we do not allow any sort of discrimination at our events. We take reports like these seriously. While it is not our policy to ban people from our events for differing opinions, we take all factors into consideration when choosing people to represent us and the charities we benefit.

this is somewhat surprising as it felt like GDQ had taken some steps towards being more inclusive and intolerant of bigotry in recent years. at the same time, i feel like i shouldn't be surprised at all and i was setting myself up for disappointment by thinking a Gamer event could ever be truly inclusive.

The rules are specifically any political affiliated things on camera are a big no no.

That being said GDQ needs to grow some fucking balls here and not let toxic little shits like this use GDQ for their platform to get eyeballs on them. GDQ has a fanbase of Women and Queer folks and while I obviously can't speak for them I'm sure a lot of them feel uneasy with GDQ always being so reluctant to do anything about people trotting out bad sexist or trans-phobic jokes.

This is really sad, because GDQ was always a highlight event for me. Oh well.

It would set a very bad precedent if they were to take action based on screenshots that can easily be doctored or staged. It's a tough situation but I think it's the right call. Behavior like this will likely be exposed again in the future in a way that's actionable

Sounds like they're not taking action because the current evidence presented is very easily falsifiable and they have no way to verify it? One of their followup tweets basically translates to "if you have more evidence please give it to us", so I doubt it's like they want these people there if there's proper evidence of them being shitbags.

His Twitter indicates to me that this is probably true, but not in a way that's actionable. I imagine he'll show his ass soon enough though considering he throws cuck around like confetti.

Yes, their PR statement is really bad, especially because it came just 5 good after they started their "investigation".
But this tweet shows that they're still willing to ban the guy if more evidence of his bullshittery comes to light. Guess they want a video of the guy saying something that could incriminate him is what I'm thinking.

Because their reasoning that stuff like Discord conversations are easy to fake is actually true, so I don't really blame them for wanting some hard evidence that's not as easy to potentially fake.

I sure as all hell won't be watching our supporting that Doom64 run though. Or anything else that guy is involved with.

It's a bummer that Graviton turned out to be a dipshit. I never watched much of his stream, but I thought his Doom64 WR video was really impressive and his stream production values are really high.

This whole song and dance about "no clear evidence" really just rings to how lazy they are to dealing with this shit. They have had streamers ON THEIR STREAM ON THEIR CHANNEL DURING THE MARATHON make really awful transphobic and sexist jokes and yet let them finish their run and really did nothing to correct the situation or dissuade other people from doing shit like that. GDQ has a fucking bad track record with enabling assholes.

While I get why Games Done Quick took the position they did, it only really works in a vacuum.

I dunno why someone like Goose gets the benefit of doubt here considering The-Elite has racist bullshit in their forums/private chatrooms and he's already a busted cheater for doctoring Goldeneye runs. That's straight up ignoring his twitter account too, which is trash.

I don't think anything extremely offensive was said just him saying the differences he thinks men and women have and how to spot trans people. I disagree with him though.

GDQ is a private organization and they can and should ban whoever they want for whatever reason they want, and open transphobia is a good reason.

FWIW, Goose is not running at GDQ and everyone knows Goose is a NeoNazi.

Graviton is the person speedrunning at GDQ and they've been at every AGDQ since the beginning so I would guess that's why GDQ is asking for more evidence.
