There's one difference the og doesn't crack. These will have wrinkles in their late 20s from all the cosmetic and tanning.

It is fucking malicious. IT. IS. FUCKING. BLACKFACE.

Tribute, the fuck are you talking about. ? Our skin colour isn't a fucking costume can wear when you're fucking bored.
As clear as it is that these people have issues... The fake tan industry would tend to disagree with your statement. It certainly isn't "blackface" in the traditional sense, representing a caricature of racial stereotypes for comedic purposes. It is downright weird and offensive even if the intent is not malicious.

This can't be a real account, I refuse to believe it.

It's a derogatory term for women. I want to know why this is suddenly ok to use, too.

It evolved beyond that a long time ago, now it's self applied more often than not.

heaven forbid we slander the black facers

This is my gut feeling on it.

But they are being a caricature of racial stereotypes, but this time to push flat tummy tea.

Some of these makeup jobs are pretty believable.
Like if I saw them on the street,
I probably wouldn't think twice...

That Emma Hallberg girl got some African or South American in her family tree somewhere. I'm not rolling on that being all makeup foolery.

I wanna see what her momma look like.

A product of Kardashian popularity really. I mean skin darkening, heavy bronzer, tanning, etc., have obviously been popular for quite a while on and off, but with products focused on making butts look bigger, making lips look fuller, etc., we have reached a point where people can look like whatever they want with enough effort, and with little understanding of why it looks weird because it has now been heavily popularized by certain celebrities who have made themselves into an amalgamation of different cultural beauty standards.

I really dislike the popularization of the term thot, as if if it's an ok thing to call someone. Fuck off with that.

Heaven forbid we do it without using misogynistic and slut shaming language.
These people are racists, call them racists, no need to use disgusting language.

I didn't call her a goddamn thing, but getting hung up on someone calling the racist a different bad name is also stupid and pointless. You don't owe that person anything.

I don't know if they're being caricatures or they're just not good at what they're doing. As discussed ad nauseam in this thread, there is a culture of ethnic ambiguity with the rise of celebrities like the Kardashians.

I'm not defending it at all, I don't understand it and agree that it is offensive. I'm just not sure it is actually malicious or blackface in the traditional sense, it's just a case of some very confused and messed up people dabbling in cultural appropriation when they shouldn't be.

It doesn't really matter if it's malicious or not.

This shit goes far beyond some traditional tanning.

And even the fake tanning and skin lightening industry in general has issues with both of those concepts and how they play into race and racial prejudices, otherwise you wouldn't have instances like these:

https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/b...l/news-story/865fa588331f6b7e7b221dc5ec1146ad

And, well, this entire thread concept on the other end of the spectrum.

I don't see how this is blackface. This isn't remotely like the makeup used in vaudville routines to make fun of black people and caricature them. One of women doing this used a tanning bed to get her skin a darker shade, so doesn't that mean that skin tone is possible for her? Maybe it's just my involvement in opera that keeps me from feeling anything towards it.

I don't really see who these women are hurting. I get that they're appropriating culture, but why is that bad? Honest question.

It goes beyond shade or tone, it's an attempt to look at a minimum, multi-racial and there's a lot more going on with the makeup and hair than the shade(s) used.

Also, anybody that normalized the Kardashians is part of the problem.

By skinny women with no butts? Sure? But everyone else knew Jlo was the baddest.
Who is everyone.
Because her ass was definitely a point of humor in the 90s.
Before J.Lo was a "sex symbol" her ass was the butt of many jokes...hell id say even into the early 2000s her ass was still something people joked about.

It was well before white america started "liking" da booty, so having a big butt was something to make fun off.
Just look at all the other acts during her rise to fame....there was no one who had her body type....and what do we do with people who are different TEASE THEM!

Im sure you can pull up some old late night monologues of host making jokes about her ass.

This is a little OT, but I'm curious as to the thoughts on a particular aspect of this issue. For a long time we've seen, been told, and discussed that people of color have had to conform their looks to European/White beauty standards for decades to achieve success. While this trend of using makeup/surgery/etc. to copy skin color or certain features of people of color is obviously highly dubious, do you think it at all helps actual people of color in terms of changing the beauty standards paradigm, and/or allowing them to groom their appearances to a more "natural" look rather than European standards?

It's still damaging, the maliciousness is honestly a way of absolving people of this bullshit. It's 2018 for godsake

I gotta admit I didn't know what Kylie Jenner looked like, but would probably still be flabbergasted if I knew what she used to look like and compared it to some "after" photos. Wow...

I don't really know how to feel about that lol. I'm surprised people take it that far. I don't know lol. I mean if they take it that far but also take all the negatives of being black with it I guess I'm okay with it. But when it's just like cosplaying a black person when its convenient then that's just kinda wild. Some of those are like full body jobs. I just don't know why someone would do that.

I mean Jlo has been a sex symbol icon for at least the last 20 years ever since she was with Diddy back in the late 90s-00s?

One would hope people finally realize black is beautiful. Just you know, they took that in the wrong direction.

Anywho to the more egregious point you're keen on making, nah, Jlo and her ass are not characterized by shit jokes from flat ass people. She was considered god tier from the beginning by the masses.
