The standby battery life on this phone is incredible. Often during the day while I work it just sits on the desk unloved. I went six hours yesterday and it didn't move off 100%.

Ironically, the Google apps I use are all updated for X: Youtube and Google Translate.

Prefer Apple Maps and Mail app.

Yeah, the battery has been much better than the 7 Plus ever was for me despite having a smaller battery

Apologies if this has been discussed multiple times already but I currently have an iPhone 7 Plus. I use it a lot to watch videos and to even read with the Marvin app.

Obviously the X screen is narrower (plus the notch), but for anyone who has an X and came from a Plus phone, how has your video or reading / generally smaller screen affected you?

I know I would be trading screen real estate for a better screen with HDR and better colors and contrast.

As a note to that – Google Maps (iOS) Beta seems to be updated for X, so I expect that will follow soon.

Hangouts is the big one for me right now since that's what I use a lot of the time.

Am I the only one that thinks the X is slower than the 7 a bit? I noticed booting up apps on my 7 is faster than my X somehow

I still have a Series 0 Watch and while yeah, it's definitely sluggish, but when I check my notifications/time/weather (which is 90% of my use case for the Watch) it's perfectly fine. Yeah, pulling up app cards is slow, but is my life a wreck because I have to wait an extra couple seconds for the heart rate monitor to show up? No, it's fine for now. So if price is a concern, don't feel you have to have the S3 unless you plan to use a lot of app features.
I'm still running series 0. It's fine for almost everything I use it for. The big thing I want now is AirPods. I currently have the beats solo 3 but after researching it and buying them for the wifey, I think I need my own set.

It honestly hasn't effected me in the slightest, the OLED screen is gorgeous and blows away my viewing experience on the 7 plus

My phone has a minor hardware issue where it seems like a (very tiny) portion of the screen lost its coating or something. So there's this one tiny area that looks like a smudge or something but cannot be wiped off :( Luckily I only notice it when the screen is completely off or at certain angles.

I'm considering taking it to Apple but I don't want such a minor thing to use up one of my Applecare incidents.

a hardware defect won't use up one of your AppleCare accidental damage things

Question concerning wireless charging- I left my X on this Samsung wireless charger overnight; however, when I woke up the X was sitting a stable 75%. Had it on the charger today while I was playing Siege, and the light on the pad turned off and my phone was at... 75%. Is that supposed to happen?

Screen is definitely smaller; think of it as a very long 7. But that length is perfect because it just makes portrait mode even better. Websites, email, the stuff you do 90% of the time, feels better, because the screen space dedicated is maxed out. In a text-layout situation like resetera or most other websites, the amount of content you can read feels the same as a plus because it stretches that much farther.

Videos look fine to me - the superb OLED screen quality certainly helps - but I admit that I prefer to zoom in, just looks more impressive to cut off some of the image by the screen and notch rather than leave it blank and hold the phone that much closer to your face. The three best demo apps for screen quality I've seen are Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, GNOG, and, of course, just the live wallpapers section in IOS. AC in particular looks unbelievable.

I miss the screen real estate of the 7 Plus. I like watching videos/playing games while laying in bed, but everything is too small on the X's screen, so I ended up buying an iPad Pro for my media and games.

Thinking about stepping up to the X from a 6S Plus. Thing's feeling like an oversized slab in my pockets these days, but it works fine. (Plus, you know, headphone jack.) Torn on whether to splash out just so I can text one-thumbed again.

I'll echo this.

The X is a beautiful piece of tech, the device feels exceptional in the hand, and the quality of the screen is leaps and bounds above the 7 Plus. All that said, I regularly find myself missing the real estate of my old Plus. Everything just feels a bit "cramped," especially when you factor in the curved corners and the notch. I'll be there Day One for the inevitable "X Plus."

Regardless, I wouldn't go back to my 7 Plus for the time being.

Didn't really feel it to the touch, but I didn't notice it for a cool minute. I took it off and placed it on again and the charge continued past- but I mean, if it sat on the pad overnight that shouldn't exactly be a problem, right? Hmm.

I've had multiple times where I woke up and my phone didn't charge wirelessly. I had a cheaper wireless charger. Recently replaced it and haven't had the issue again. Maybe try another one if you can?

Hm- I just pre-ordered the Belkin wireless charger. Unfortunately its white and contrasts the rest of my desk, but I guess we'll see.

Taking a chance and going into the apple store in Sydney CBD tomorrow to see if i can pickup a 64gb iPhone X. Screw it, the thing is beautiful....chances of them having one in stock to buy outright?

Reasonably good. But why don't you save yourself the uncertainty and reserve one online for pick up instore? Store stock will updated at 0600 tomorrow and I dare say they will have some.

Does anyone have issues with brightness changing whenever you reset the phone or turn it back on? My 7+ never did this, but I have to manually set my X to full brightness whenever I do the above.

If the heart rate sensor on your Series 0 is starting to detach, make sure you take it in for warranty work. I had a Series 0 also that had seen time in both the Pacific and Atlantic lol, in addition to the local bay. It had been mountain biking and endured other sports as well. Needless to say, the screen started to detach and Apple wanted $250 to fix it. I decided to fix it myself but when the heart rate sensor decided to come off too, Apple honored the warranty and gave me what I'd assume to be a refurb Series 1. It's definitely leagues faster than my Series 0.

How long until my phone starts recognising me with sunglasses on? It's getting pretty annoying.

Yeah, I have zero issues with my polarized ray bans. It'll even recognize my face if I have it resting against my palm which I didn't expect.

yeah them being available for employee discount usually correlates to the SIM-free models being available for purchase
I had assumed that you could already buy them in Apple stores, provided you found a store that had stock, that is.
What about ordering a SIM-free (no carrier contract) phone online? Would that also be possible starting on December 5th?
Have relatives in the US and would use it here in Germany.

It may never, if the lenses are blocking too much of the IR. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I have two pairs of Ray-Bans with G15 colored lenses and with the Attention features on it cannot see that I am looking at the phone when I am wearing them. It only does this with these two pairs of sunglasses and no matter how many times I enter the code it doesn't matter, because the phone thinks I'm not looking at it.
