Looks like R* is more concerned about rolling out their MTX filled MP than fixing SP bugs.

Are you really surprised? Seriously? Even GTA got like one maybe two patches and I don't think they fixed one of the major bugs though they claimed they did (cars disappearing htat you put in personal garages). Then online was too lucrative to pay attention to single player.

They now have the benefit of knowing how lucrative online is. I'm betting the only reason RDR2 even got a single player campaign is as a big advertisement for online and to suck people in.

It's kinda why I originally wanted to boycott R* after GTA V online because I wanted them to see focusing on online does lose customers. But I'm weak willed and RDR2 looked too good. I don't regret it (mainly cause it's a losing battle and me boycotting would really only serve to make myself feel good for sticking to my principles and well, the game is good enough I think I enjoy it better over sticking to principles with no hope of it actually doing anything).

(what, me bitter? Where the hell is my GTA DLC R*? Hell, for that matter, I'll now be asking this question for RDR2 as well which I love even more than GTA V).

rocksstar does't give a shit

If it isn't online and causing them to lose "shark card purchases", nope they don't. But if it affects their shark card purchases negatively, they're very quick to respond.

I have seen way more support post game from Bethesda than Rockstar. Sure, Bethesda has more to fix and still doesn't fix a lot, but at least they put in some effort. Is it too much to ask R* to put in some effort to at least fix the few big bugs their game has?

still nothing? goddamn laughable from Rockstar. why cant they even tell us when/if it will be fixed? surely they are aware that countless people missed out on content and are not happy?

oh well, maybe i'll just continue playing, i'll watch the camp stuff with John and his family on youtube some day.. :/

is it guaranteed nothing else is messed up if i have this bug, i can complete the main story and all side missions without issues..?

This is Bethesda levels of bug fixing. In fact, I think Bethesda might even be quicker.

Rockstar leave your god damn MT filled MP mode that wasn't ready in time for release for a few hours and put out a hotfix.

I imagine they will be rolling out a patch for the single player, along with the online portion. Will be very surprised if it's not fixed by next week.

In the words of harrison ford, who gives a shit. People need to unify and tweet and share non stop. Put pressure on them to fix this, eventually the media will roll with it
There was a bunch of press on the bug initially right? If that didn't get them to at least respond and acknowledge it then nothing will. Even the fake HDR stuff was pretty big news and we got nothing back from them as well. That Rockstar hubris will never change until one of their games reviews badly.

I think it's important to note that the camp interactions with John, Jack, Sadie, and Abigail are roughly the same as for the other characters (e.g. Reverend Swanson, Strauss, Karen, Tilly, etc.). There aren't these Earth shattering revelations or impressive character moments, it's mostly people saying "Hi Arthur" and "Hay is for horses" and "Nothing better" and the like.

Probably the most interesting things are (incredibly minor spoilers for camp interaction in chapter 2 and 3):

Marstons:
Abigail and Jack sleep in the same area, but John has a completely separate one well away from them in both chapter 2 and 3.

Sadie:
Sadie is still in shock from the loss of her husband in chapter 2, but comes out of her shell again in chapter 3.

Question: Some of the Companions are missing from the Camp after the completion of Chapter 2. How can I get them back?

Answer: If you completed the mission 'Polite Society, Valentine Style' at the start of Chapter 2, but needed to use the Retry Checkpoint feature, then Sadie, Jack, John, and Abigail will only appear in camp when they have missions for you to complete. We are aware of the issue and are currently working on a fix to be included in an upcoming Title Update.

In the interim, in order to experience all vignettes and conversations, players must complete the 'Polite Society, Valentine Style' mission without using Retry Checkpoint. If the player fails any portion of the mission they should abandon and restart mission, or load a save before the mission failed.

Note: While players will miss some of the in-game vignettes and conversations, mission progression is not impacted. All Companions will return to the Camp at the beginning of Chapter 4.

Multiplayer goes live in a couple of hours. Anyone on here got the Ultimate Edition who can put the rest of us out of our misery and confirm if they've mentioned a fix in the patch notes? I'm still in chapter 2. Got the John train mission and Mica rescue mission active, but I've fully explored almost every inch of the game I can, almost fully upgraded everything in the camp, am up to rank 8 or 9 on most challenges and so on.

I feel like I've kind of ruined the game for myself by refusing to play any further, until the characters are back, but to be honest Abigail, John and Sadie seem the most interesting characters to me, so I want to see their progression.

As someone who has completed the game, I think you are missing out on so little.

Light spoilers for structure of story
the Marstons show up in camp when anything significant happens with them during the bugged chapters, and there is SO MUCH MORE CONTENT after the bugged chapters that you are missing some really minor stuff. And most of those conversations you are missing are likely just "hey, how's it going? Okay I'll leave you to it!"

As someone who has experienced the game with and without the bug, I disagree.

Im really glad I restarted the game to fix it.

I gave more details in my light story structure spoiler above but I'll say that the Marstons do end up showing up in the bugged chapters when there's anything significant that happens with the camp or with them in particular. So you might be just glad that you saw those same interactions that many bugged players saw. It's hard to say but just FYI.

The patch fixes the bug including Molly she is here again in chapter 3. I didn't want to argue the type of misinformation people spread based on not being able to use some common sense(people weren't convinced my susan camp events triggering that made no sense with her missing already, the small window to turn in the pocket mirror not making any game design sense, her characterization being insanely lacking if she was intended to not be there for like 2.5 chapters it was just really fucking dumb better wait it out) cause from other experiences nothing was convincing people but the patch made her appear in the camp again for me I just turned in the mirror and I can finally play again.

Well that's promising then. Will have to try it later to see if it fixes it for me too.

I think it's fixed now with the latest patch. But yeah R* have a bad history with bugs. On GTA 4 I couldn't get 100% because some of the random strangers wouldn't appear for me. They never fixed it.

On GTA V ps3 there was a bug that if you progressed the story too much Tonyas missions bugged out and if you completed the game before doing your taxi company mission they'd never call you for a job making 100% impossible and therefore the platinum trophy.

Crazily they didn't even fix this well-known bug for the next gen release.

They released gta 3 as a ps2 classic without fixing the Donald love glitch which fucked my platinum attempt up. On my second play through the purple 9 glitch got me. Took 3 pleythroughs to platinum gta 3.

Fool me once, fool me twice, fool me 3 fooking times lol. I'll never play another rockstar game again without first Googling about bugged or glitched trophies.

I've just started chapter 3 recently. All the missing persons are back. Jack, John, Abigail, Sadie. All have returned. Uff. Right now I'm listening to a camp conversation between Hosea and Abigail.

Question: I know some conversations are tied to events in the story, but if I just keep leaving and coming back to camp, could I force the remaining conversations out that way? Cuz I was planning to just go hunting for pelts and I wasn't sure if I should bother going back to camp in between.

That's good to hear. Too late for my game (I'm now in chapter 4 but then only Sadie has come back so maybe I'll get abigail and jack back but I cared less about them than Sadie)l

Good to see they finally fixed this shit and that its applies to peoples saves post-bug. Surprised Molly vanishing during those chapters turned out to indeed be a bug and not part of the story like many claimed including me since it does correlate with her ark in chapter 5, guess that bug was unavoidable unlike the marstons/sadie bug since no one had her in camp after she became a quest giver in chapter 3.

Just checked my camp on ps4 and it looks like its fixed! Everyone appears to have returned. I'm on chapter 2. Just had a small moment where

Sadie is crying, in shock and worried about what she is going to do. Abigail consoles her and calms her down, telling her she can stay with the group.

I'm glad I waited. Missing out on small stuff like that was mainly what I was worried about.

Finally! I took a few weeks off from playing at all until this was fixed (stopped at start of chapter 3). Late patch but at least it's included with this update.
