Hah I'd say something Metroid related and some Smash DLC info is a good baseline.
They're not announcing Smash DLC details the week it comes out or this year in general.

To be fair, both in 2014 and 2017 Nintendo brought multiple announcements to TGA.

2014:
-SMB3 + SMW palettes for Super Mario Maker
-Multiplayer in Code Name STEAM
-First footage of BOTW

2017:
-BOTW: The Champions Ballad contents revealed + shadow drop
-Bayonetta 1+2 port
-Bayonetta 3 teaser
2014:
-New details for upcoming announced and already demoed game
-a mode for soon-to-be-released and extensively shown off game
-first footage of highly anticipated game

2017:
-long overdue and expected DLC release/trailer
-new port
-new surprise game

so between those, you should expect something like
-new exclusive mode for NSMBU DX trailer
-Mario Party DLC
-Crafting Mode with Nintendo Labo support in Yoshi's Crafty World
-Dillon's Dead Heat Breakers HD
-Mad Dillon: Fury Road Warrior announced

"expectations low"

Lists Metroid Prime 4 and MPT HD as "baseline" low expectation

;)

We're still expecting one?

I had completely forgot lol

It's only fair to give them this week before we bring out the shovels.

Can this dude hint enough hmm. SpawnWave and all these dudes hang out with each other and that includes our own Nate Drake. When Nate isn't out in the jungle fighting crime he takes time to do Nintendo podcasts.

Lol oh lord I didn't see Nate post at the time. That's hilarious. GUESS who's back from the dead!

When people don't expect much from the Game Awards:

I liked when Reggie said "of course there's more". I want him to say something like that again. "Look at me mother fker. Look at me. I'm mother fking Reggie. I didn't fly out here in my helicopter for free food. Someone in the back spin dat shit!"

Could it be, we're really gonna get a reveal of Prime Trilogy HD and maybe Prime 4... Right before Smash Ultimate is unleashed upon us??

Yes Nintendo. Do it.

I'm not aware of their track record but it's worth noting the delayed Direct and the rescheduled one were widely known by media because of a slip up
They also correctly predicted the Smash direct (but they said they might reveal the N64 classic right after). So they have some legit stuff but have probably been misled this month. Something weird must have happened since our lord and savior King Zell was wrong too on that one.

But honestly right now I'm over it. Waiting for some directs, drooling over some gif on twitter from some smug insiders... It was fun when nothing was going on, but right now there's games to play, events to look forward to... It's easier to ignore all that noise.

I think they're kind of hit or miss. King Zell also said his source said the N64 Mini would be announce and come next month. They definitely got bad info this time it appears.

Instead of a direct they are better off with multiple announcements at game awards.
Yeah that's the difference between now and when Nintendo used to do November Directs. The Game Awards are more prominent and have so many eyes on them. If you have some big announcements then it's better to skip a November Direct and save it for the Game Awards.

Of course not all announcements work at the Game Awards, but what would you even announce in November that's coming before an inevitable January direct?

The one thing about the game awards is that it's mostly for the American audience. It seems odd to tease a Zelda SS at a Japanese concert and announce it on something most Japanese won't watch.

Who said that a Skyward Sword announcement is imminent though? Even if we assume Aonuma was indeed hinting at a remaster it doesn't mean it's going to be announced any time soon. It could be announced in January or even later.

I don't see Skyward Sword being announced at the Game Awards. The Game Awards will be Metroid and maybe something Smash related.

Skyward Sword can be announced in a worldwide January direct and release in March for example.

They'd be better off conserving their announcements for a bigger January direct instead of spreading themselves too thin with reveals. Have a more potent and effective direct to kick off 2019 right

I think they have a pretty good formula for General Directs and events. January direct then March/April Direct. E3 in June. August/September Direct and Game Awards in December. Sprinkle in game specific Directs in between.

Game awards they should have 3 announcements

Reggie talks about Zelda Breath of the Wild, and how well it did critically and winning last years GotY. Then moves the conversation to announcement 1.
- Zelda: Skyward Sword Remastered

Reggie talks about last year he showed off Bayonetta 3 and he now has more to show. Leading to announcement 2.
- Bayonetta 3 Gameplay Trailer

Reggie now talks about Smash Bros newcomer Ridley. And says how long he has waited to finally have Ridley playable in Smash Bros. He then also says this isn't the only new game Ridley is on, leading to announcement 3.
- Metroid Prime 4 Trailer

What did I miss? A rumored November Direct?

I don't see this happening, and would think a World Premiere announcement is sufficient enough to wrap up 2018.

Nobody expected a direct before the insight from the (still) reliable King Zell. But I'm a simple person and if Nintendo-san thinks that he has enough stuff to show for a direct, I'll be more than happy.

At this point, something Metroid-related seems like a done deal. I don't dare to dream about anything beyond Prime 4 though. No Skyward Sword HD, no Metroid Prime Trilogy HD, no Bayonetta 3, no Star Fox Grand Prix... but I'd love for any of those to happen.

Why can't we see more 3rd party AAA titles, like Daemon x Machina, The Legendary Starfy, Resident Evil 10, Monster Hunter 5 Generations, and Town?

Where can I put my /dream at?

You didn't miss anything :)

That ship is going full steam now. Anything less than an MP4 trailer and I'll burn my variety kit.
If they don't show prime 4 I don't wanna be on the internet for a few months. Fan overhype post apocalypse is insufferable.

So, 24 hours until the second direct saga is over and we finally know if anything will happen, huh?
If you look at the calendar and then do the math, yea ...when the month is over and there was no Direct we will 99% for sure know if there is a Direct this month :)

Who said that a Skyward Sword announcement is imminent though? Even if we assume Aonuma was indeed hinting at a remaster it doesn't mean it's going to be announced any time soon. It could be announced in January or even later.
Impatient fans who think literally everything is a hint.

I really hope we see some gameplay of Metroid Prime 4. At the minimum we get a cinematic showing Samus and some of the world to give us an idea of the game. Gameplay would be lovely though.

I'm watching Kinda Funny Games and they all agree Metroid Prime 4 will be there. The last thing they asked was what game would be there "get hyped" moment and Jared said "Star Fox Racing".

Tim said off the records he's heard so many people talking about this game and said people have claimed they played Star Fox Grand Prix. He questioned if it's still alive.

Then him and Jared stared at each other said said "this would be a great time to talk about it...it would...it really would". Then they stare at each other smiling. Seriously the way they talked about it and smiling at each other at the end. Retro Studios I need you now. God I hope Tim and Jared know something.
