It's one thing for the game to keep track of cards played, but including the whole decklist from the start is just too much information, maybe with the small card pool people will know what to expect anyway but having it confirmed from the start is just not good. I don't like it at all, maybe I'm missing something.

Yeah I don't really agree with including the whole decklist including cards that haven't been played yet. Absolutely okay with keeping a list of cards already played though.

The game shows your opponents entire decklist from the start?

That's certainly different.

I've been avoiding any gameplay for the game, so I'm super hyped to go in blind on Wednesday.

Lol seems like a bad game to choose to go in blind.

I love card games so I'm sure I'll like it.

I'll avoid the modes that cost event tickets or packs until I get the hang of things.

It seems super complicated but that's what makes it even more fun for me to go in blind. I'll learn the mechanics from messing around than learn the deeper stuff after I look online.

All I know is if I open an Axe or Drow from my packs, sell it day one.

I'm really excited for this game — I have confidence in any Richard Garfield designed card game — but really not sure how I feel about the deck reveal feature. I understand it after the fact, but during seems like a lot of surprise and thrill will be taken away as a result.

It's interesting though.

I don't like playing arena in Hearthstone because you never know what to play around, the decks feel too random for me to enjoy. I wonder if this mitigates that and makes you feel more in control of the game.

When is the live stream for the finals of the era community tournament?

I'm interested to see how the game is received post official launch.

Good to see lots of give aways for the game for those interested.

so apparently the decktracker reveals the opponent's entire decklist (including cards you have not seen)

i've heard random noobs propose this type of stuff in other games, but it always seemed like a bad idea to ruin the game for 99.9% of people just to prevent the 0.1% (streamers) from getting scouted

Damn I am far too lazy to sit waiting on streams to win a free key :(

Not sure I'm a fan of revealing your opponent's deck

Yeah, I've been pretty excited about playing this, but I'm definitely *not* a fan of revealing both decklists.
From a play experience perspective, I feel the cons far outweigh the pros.

Keeping decklists obscured allows you to sneak in one-ofs for the surprise factor or other tech. If both decks are a known constant from the very beginning, then players will probably be able to tell which list will win (assuming equal skill levels). When both decks are an unknown, you're forced to play differently because you're playing around uncertainties--decklists eliminates that entirely.

It's even worse in draft. No one wants to play a game they're goingt to lose, and if you see your deck is outclassed from the get-go, it's just going to be a negative experience. This will probably just encourage people to concede in casual, or become super salty in constructed.

I don't understand the reasoning behind its inclusion. What a mind boggler.

Which app on Android can view the Prelude CBZ? I tried Astonishing Comic Reader but it didn't recognize it and wouldn't let me import it.

edit: DW it worked the second time

It's not weird at all, there is a reason they said progression is their highest priority post-launch.

People coming from DOTA are used to not playing with a barebones progression system, but most people are going to want to see some bars fill up - myself included.

Nothing wrong with being skeptical of a new monetization model for digital card games, if it holds up as what Valve said it would be when it was announced it should be much better than the f2p model that people have been conditioned by, in which case it'll be a matter of time until skeptics are believers, all this assuming the gameplay draws people in in the first place.

I guess you're right, weird was not the right choice of word..
It's just a little strange because you get a complete gameplay package even if you don't decide to pay any money at all. It's not like you have no game if you decide not to spend any money at all.

But I understand the pleasure it makes to fill out bars and get little progression updates.

Yeah I am not a fan of the revealed decklists. I love to brew new deck ideas, been playing mtg for 21 years, and this almost ruins constructed play for me.
Seeing Reddit react makes me think they may reverse their decision.

The fact you're actually someone playing the game in-universe and you're trying to affect the future really gets my attention. I love alternate timelines/universe stories.

I should probably force myself to actually pre-order when I get back home this evening.

I'm super excited for new lore stuff. About the deck tracker thing, I've seen many people complain about it so they'll probably change it.

The weird thing about the deck list is that it was in the early phases of the beta and was randomly taken out at some point. Since then it's been the thing the pros have wanted most seemingly.

Maybe it was something they were doing at the start of the beta to get people used to the game more, but then pros ended up liking it?

The entire decklist tracker makes sense for competitive/tournament play and should remain an option in the custom tournament tabs...

But yea I'm 100% against the current deck tracker for the matchmaking modes. I really hope at the very least they modify it to show only your opponents played cards + hero signature cards (since it's obvious what those are anyway).

I know it's a different team, which at Valve is basically a different company, but this seems like something they'd do for Dota. Casually patch in something crazy then spend a day or two gathering feedback before tweaking it to be something most people can be happy with.

Valve do that sort of thing all the time. Most of the time people are happy or indifferent to it and nothing changes.

Welp I've got nothing to do right now so I guess I'll try before I preorder lol

He's giving away a copy every 5 minutes, but when he's playing a game he's letting a timer go to then do the roll after the game of how many copies the time has passed. Just a heads up. Just gotta put in the keyword when he says and then if you're picked you just type your profile full link in chat.

So far it's been worth it watching this guy just trying to give them away and sift through the bots.

He had to give away 12, then the time it took him to give those away it already past enough time that he had to give another 7 away. He's already up to 2 more copies needing given away since working on these 7.

To be fair his first game was pretty good, he'd basically lost but due to a poor card from his opponent he was able to hold on and eventually get a comeback win.

Yeah that one game was great to watch, and the trainwreck ever since has been just as worth it.

When the chat starts to spam "enterme" it cracked me up every time.
