If there is one thing about the BT games that I love is that they were made to celebrate the Dragon Ball franchise in the greatest way. This was the first 3D Dragon Ball fighter that dared to be a ¨Dragon Ball simulator¨ above all else with the flight combat and heavy use of projectiles in the gameplay. Even better is that it did its best to include every DBZ character you could dream of playing with along with nearly every form, transformation, and outfit the characters wore in the series.

Xenoverse and FighterZ are great DB games in their own right, but they feel noticeably lacking in the areas that the BT games shined. I mean it feels like a hefty amount of popular Super characters/transformations are left out and even some favorite Z transformations are absent. And I really understand why, as Xenoverse focuses on the create a character aspect and FighterZ is about competitive fighting.

This is why I cant help but want a BT4. A Dragon Ball game that tries to retell and recreate the story from the time of Raditz arrival to DB Super Broly movie. One that allows you to fight with the characters in any transformation and any appearance they held in the franchise, along with the areas the fights took place. Theres just too much missing in modern Dragon Ball games to do the things that many of us loved doing in the past DB games.

You're right but I think the marketing for Xenoverse pre release shows that they think of it as a replacement

Basically what you said, buuuuut...
The Dragon Ball series needs a Budokai T̶e̶n̶k̶a̶i̶c̶h̶i̶ 4 quite badly

If only just because I couldn't stand how Tenkaichi played :/

As much as I'd prefer that, the success of Xenoverse and FighterZ make it extremely unlikely.

Have you played Infinite World. Some people consider it Budokai 4.

I'll be perfectly honest:

I thought all the Tenkaichi games were shit.

So I'll definitelt disagree that we need another one.

Eh. While it did different from stuff Xenoverse, I feel like there's too much overlap. Between that and FighterZ, they got both types of Dragon Ball covered pretty nicely.

I never played the Tenkaichi games, but I played a whole lot of the Budokai games. Have you gone back to them lately, though? They do not hold up.

I think the only actually good DBZ fighter in existence is DBFZ. They should add way more characters and modes to that instead.

I agree. I also liked how every character's level of power was fairly accurate to the show. It made it all the more satisfying when I beat my stupid friend's five man team consisting of Broly, Kid Buu, and ssj4 versions of Gogeta, Vegeta, and Goku with Ultimate Gohan, Goku from Frieza saga, Piccolo, Android 18, and fucking Hercule.

The people who made the Tenkaichi series have long since moved on and have been put onto Jump Force. And they no longer even make the games feel good to play anymore. Ever since they made the jump to HD their games have felt stiffer and have become more and more shallow. Trust me, you wouldn't want another Budokai Tenkaichi from the developers who made it because... they wouldn't do it right. I'm almost convinced it's not even the same people who work there anymore but I haven't done any actual research on that; just a big assumption on my part.

FighterZ should be the future of the DBZ fighting games. It puts every other effort to shame.

The Sparking! games haven't aged quite well seeing how most of the fighters had copy and pasted animations and attacks, leading to dull gameplay. The one good quality about those games is the amount of content it had with its costumes, characters, and Kikuchi score (okay this is a personal favorite lmao) I'd take a new installment with a more focused roster with proper detail in how they played, which is similar to how Xenoverse handles its characters.

I agree. I know pretty much everyone played the same but I loved having access to 150+ characters form Dragon Ball lore.

I did yeah, and the two PSP games. Infinite World is okay, but I really didn't like the gimmicks of the story mode. Felt like Budokai 3... Just a little worse.

Aha, I played through 1 and 3 again with the HD collection and still enjoyed them a fair bit. I'm completely fine with those kinds of messy fighters though... I even enjoyed Dimps 2015 Saint Seiya game, just because it felt closer to Budokai than Xenoverse does.

Also, I just don't enjoy playing Arc fighters >.>

I would have agreed pre XenoVerse 2, especially with all the DLC. XenoVerse is quickly going to fill that roster void by XenoVerse 3. I prefer where XV is going with its Heroes like story. FighterZ is its own thing.

Ehhhh, Tenkaichi wasn't all that fun for me coming off of Budokai. Yeah, it had like every DBZ character you could possibly think of, but the game itself just wasn't fun enough for me to want a new game out of that series. It's kinda the same issue I have with the Warriors titles where they emphasize quantity over quality, and things just start becoming too samey and homogeneous after awhile for me to care. Though admittedly, I don't like those games on a "gameplay/fun" standpoint, i'm sure others loved that shit for all the crazy DBZ content it had to offer, and it's "Dragon Ball Z simulation" approach that you mention in your post.

Yes yes yes, love xenoverse but damn man I want a game where I can okay through the story from beginning to end again. I want it to include as much of the story as possible from Dragon ball to dragon Ball super and even gt. I want it all, if even just take it as an addition to xenoverse 3 but I want all the characters possible. I don't care about some characters feeling the same I get that with a billion characters there will be similarities I'll play fighterz when I want to get away from that completely. I obviously wish it didn't have to be that way but if it means a bigger game I'll take it. I'm there for the characters and spectacle.

I'd prefer a raging blast 3 its basically a more streamlined tenkaichi. Also I know others will say they don't hold up or aren't good but there's a reason people remember budokai and tenkaichi as opposed to super dragon ball z and that is that they're easy to play and don't play like a real fighter

I'd rather take just a Budokai 4 than a BT4. Budokai 3 is my favorite DBZ game of all time.

The team that made the Tenkaichi series is currently making Jump Force; and that looks like ass so they can stay the hell away.

I think I'd rather have a new Budokai. Tenkaichi series was fun, but the farther away they got the more tedious and boring it got when it came to fights. Then Ultimate Tenkaichi happened which simplified so much it was hardly anything but a rock and scissors match. No paper, just rock and scissors. With Xenoverse it doesn't feel all that different from past Tenkaichi games and with the added RPG elements of level ups and increasing HP and attack power, etc., it's just a numbers game and no real thought. It's neat at least and can still be brainless fun, but I do miss Budokai.

The only thing that series has over Xenoverse and DBFZ is a larger roster, and since most of the characters share moves that might not be a good thing.

I really enjoyed Fighter Z but I'd prefer the Tenkaichi series to be the future

Mainly due to my love for them as a kid

It is not financially viable to make a game like this with an insane roster size unless they just used the Xenoverse models again.

I just want a game where non-flying characters get a chance to shine again. It is absolutely criminal that Master Roshi is not playable in most newer Dragon Ball games.

The last DragonBall game I liked was the greatest of them all TB3, all games that came after I tried were bad just remake TB3 and add the new characters and call it TB4

Tenkaichi 3 is the greatest DBZ game ever.. nothing, not even Xenoverse 1, 2 comes close. As for Fighter Z... I dont understand the draw of it. Biggest waste of a 60 dollars spent from me for such a barebones game.
