Switch outperformed PS4 all month long last November until the Sunday before BF and Sony wiped out Nintendo's lead in a single day.
How can you say this? Is there data available that showed this?
Will the Pokemon + Pokeball bundles count fully towards the software total revenue wise? And what about Mario Party + Joycons? I think that might help a tiny bit when it comes to comparing revenue vs last November.
That's a good question. Will the Pokemon + Pokeball bundles count fully towards the software total revenue wise? And what about Mario Party + Joycons? I think that might help a tiny bit when it comes to comparing revenue vs last November.
We have insiders on this forum who provide this type of information regularly.

Is the confusion due to VR non-exclusives making it difficult to pick what to count sales against or some other reason?
Anyway I guess Sony considers it all PS4 SW umbrella in their quarterly reports too, so it's not without precedent.
its also strange to me how Xbox could be flat when the X came out last year...did the userbase who was buying the X just eat the S users? Its like the exact opposite of the Pro and base PS4
Surely these insiders can't see total sales, rather a small slice of the pie?
I'm not including Mat Piscatella since he is a known NPD employee.
No PC sales recorded and being in the market for half the time Monster Hunter's been out would factor into that probably.Monster hunter world has sold more YTD than madden in the states?
Wow......that is mighty impressive
No PC sales recorded and being in the market for half the time Monster Hunter's been out would factor into that probably.
Obviously. The simple fact we are even comparing Monster Hunter to Madden in US is crazy enough.
Depends.
I can see nation wide sell throug data. A lot of it.
Of course no one can see the entire picture. Literally the only time that becomes visible to anyone is when all data is compiled and released per NPD.
But its not like my visibility to the market is exactly small.
So you're saying they understimated how much they could sell in BF because the console sold out? I already answered that in my first reply.
Operating income is expected to be significantly higher than the July forecast primarily due to the impact of the above-mentioned higher-than-expected game software and PS Plus sales, as well as expected reductions for promotional and other costs related to PS4 hardware, based on the recent strong business momentum
Benji are you staying with us from now on? I remember you wanted to move to Twitter. Crazy to get this much insider knowledge. Wish I could be you.Depends.

I can understand, some of this stuff just gets toxic. Those of us who don't comment much really appreciate the work you do. All of the insiders. I really don't get it. Things escalate so damn fast. You'll see one post praising the work outside of work you do, just for the interest of the community, and then the next calling you a liar, threatening to out you and by extension your livelihood, going from one to a billion in a heartbeat.I'm really active on Twitter as well, but yeah I'm sticking around Era. I don't think I could ever really leave, even when people upset me or stress me out.
At the end of the day I'm always glad to be a part of the sales community and give back what I can
Just know that despite a few fools, most of us love and appreciate what you give back to this forum. Thanks for everything! Also hope fatherhood is awesome so far for you!I'm really active on Twitter as well, but yeah I'm sticking around Era. We very much appreciate you being around and sharing what data you can :)Honestly the last 2 months have been pretty solid with very little drama. It's been nice and things seem to be going good!
Much love

The power of being on consoles and PC.The simple fact we are even comparing Monster Hunter to Madden in US is crazy enough.
Going highest first month revenue for Pokémon!(?)Yes. Like Wii Fit and Wii Play, if an accessory is bundled with a game disc/cart the total spend is allocated to the game.

They will have known that they could have shipped much more for Black Friday based on last year's performance (similar performance with a worse deal and also fast sellouts). The leading theory is that they didn't want to ship more than they have because it eats into profit when you discount by more than $100. People who only buy the system only for such bargain prices are probably also less likely to buy tons of software, so it's a gamble as to whether selling at this price with unlimited quantities brings in the wished-for profits, I think.im not talking about the increase in forecast, get away from that. i am talking about how much they have shipped based on their general forecast for the year. black friday was absolutely apart of that, and they underestimated how much they could sell
just like mistletoe, sleighbells and the smell of freshly baken cookies, call of duty is an important part of the american christmas tradition. those who care about their beloved ones will help to push the ps4 well above a million. If Sony had a 249 Blops 4 bundle in December, would they get to 1M?
With one week only at $249 ?If Sony had a 249 Blops 4 bundle in December, would they get to 1M?
The whole month.
Think so, BLOPS4 is a bigger bundle game than BF2. I think they could to the number they dif last December or somewhat higher, maybe 1.1-1.2 million. If Sony had a 249 Blops 4 bundle in December, would they get to 1M?
I think they will hit 1 million regardless of the bundles they have in December. If Sony had a 249 Blops 4 bundle in December, would they get to 1M?
For the whole month? Then they would do 1.3-1.5 million.
Probably, if not more.If Sony had a 249 Blops 4 bundle in December, would they get to 1M?
Put this in the other thread but I'm kinda disappointed Nintendo hasn't been marketing Labo more. I've been one of the people saying holidays is where it's performance will really matter but they don't seem to be pushing it like I thought they would. All focus is really on Smash and Pokémon.
Benji any insight on how Cyber Monday went for all three? Stock lower/higher than expected for Switch/PS4?
That is a bad deal for December, even more so compared to last year's deal of carrying Black Friday week price cuts through the whole month.
Probably, if not more.
Last year they only did a $50 off on PS4pro and PSVR bundles in December afaik, and they still hit 1m.
If they get the COD (and maybe another more family friendly one) bundle at $249 for a week before Xmas and advertise it, they should have a nice December.
Now IF they are thirsty for more MAU and decide to go $199 for 1 week, with enough stock, sky's the limit (but December is generally not as price sensitive, so it might be leaving $ on the table in the end).
Funny I thought I remembered that and when doing a google search I couldn't find the announcement. That is a bad deal for December, even more so compared to last year's deal of carrying Black Friday week price cuts through the whole month.
Last year the cheapest bundles were $229 (the standalone model was $189). $249 isn't going to be moving much when they have offered the same price or lower since 2016 in addition to Sony dropping the Black Ops 4 bundle to $249.
The slim did go down to $249 the week before Christmas. It's the only reason PS4 hit over 1M in December.
