Just finished it.
I really don't understand the immense hype about this campaign. I've played it and thought it was good.
After all the love I've seen over and over again in ERA and reddit, I've played again to see if I was missing something and thought it was good again...

I know there are a couple of really creative missions, very cool, but how is this the best campaign in an FPS game? Specially with Wolfenstein The New Order, DOOM, Resistance 3, etc... that are available.
I'm in the same boat.

I don't get it. Cooper is barely a character, and not in the silent protagonist sense. The mentor disappears too early to have any emotional impact. The villains are mercenaries, so completely lacking in motivation aside from money. The militia barely talks to you beyond "do this please". The world is barely explained, motivations are not explained at all, if I hadn't read the wiki beforehand I wouldn't even know what any of this conflict is about.
Most importantly, there's practically no hurdle or conflict to build the relationship with BT. You brainlink and that's that, he likes, trusts and praises you. It's a nice character for a robot, but is that really it?

And 5 hours is about what you'd expect from the tacked on singleplayer campaign of a multiplayer title, but here it barely felt like more than a prologue for a continuation that will never happen.

I enjoyed how the gunplay felt and there were a few nice setpieces, but I've played too many singleplayer FPS campaigns to consider this even in my top 10.

I'm not a big fan of FPS games, but i was utterly amazed by this game's campaign level design and diversity, basically every level presents a new interesting gimmick and the boss fights are really awesome.

Game was sent to die with that release date. I think Doom also overshadowed it a bit when it came to FPS that year. Still number 1 in my heart though, It's up there with Half Life and Halo. Got that platinum trophy too ;)

Oh and by the way, the multiplayer is good despite what people say.

So many highlights. Some of the beginning is not that exciting but power through the first couple of levels and it kicks into high gear.

The hype is basically based on two levels really and the controls being really snappy. TF2 as an all round experience isn't that great. Story is barebones and there are no memorable characters. Art design was nothing special. Even the gameplay felt a bit disjointed because it kept changing mechanics/gimmicks between every level instead of focusing on a few and using them the entire time.

That said it's still a really solid experience with some great highs in a genre that has been lacking this generation.

This is my view on the game too.

I didn't really find anything particularly remarkable about it.

For me, in terms of FPS campaigns this gen, Wolfenstein TNO and COD:IW are the best this gen and the two most memorable FPS campaigns I've played in recent memory.

If you're talking "all time", Titanfall 2 wouldn't even reach my top 10.

It's baffling to me that EA didn't try harder to make this game stand out given how quality it was.

They stacked it in between Battlefield 1 and Infinite Warfare, ensuring that it wasn't going to sell like it deserved.

Easily among the best FPS of this gen, hell, it rubs shoulders with the greatest of all time.

I have to happily agree on this topic. The SP campaign on this game is fantastic and beautifully done.

Slept on this game far too long. Only played it a year ago. But I will be there for Titanfall 3 if it ever comes out day 0, that's for sure.

Me and my kid played it all the way through together ... I mean it was okay... I still don't know where this "Amazing" term comes from... I didn't feel like it had done anything other games haven't already done... .... Really it wasn't much fun outside the mech... which was half of it...

doom on the other hand I couldn't stop playing.

It is on level 5 when the game starts to get wild. Definitely shouldn't skip on the experience.
You were right! I made it to the time travel part. Really cool gimmick. But I beat that level and now I'm back to not being able to time travel. Hoping I get that ability back. But thx for telling me to stick with it. I'm finally enjoying the game

So overrated to me. I mean it was good but what exactly made it special? Call of Duty Infinite Warfare came out around the same time and was far better.
I really loved Titanfall 2 also, it was really good. But damn Infinite Warfare was truly great. Surprisingly good story and great characters with some pretty awesome locations.
I would be so hyped to get an Infinite Warfare 2 but I'm sure that won t happen.

The robot battles are meh but all the rest is top notch. Graphically its great but a bit worse than other FPS. Super recommended.

Im waiting for it to drop to 10 euros... It got to "12" (doom+wolfenstein for 24) but Doom is anothet game I want to pay flat 10.

But until the 1st of January, in order to celebrate the new Brazilian President, I will get Wolfenstein and kill nazis. No matter the price.

Well I'm not normally into FPS games too much and I enjoyed the hell out of this.

I think in terms of tightness and a complete lack of filter in the game, ya it's up there with the best.

It truly was something special. Been meaning to replay it for a long while.
Is the multiplayer still active? I remember playing it back in Feb/March and couldn't play most game modes due to lack of players.

I will never understand this. I enjoyed it, but there's only one single standout mission for me. MW2, Doom 2016, Wolfenstein TNO And probably a Halo title are all way more well rounded packages for me. Oh well. I liked that it was short. It's a good game absolutely and hard to not recommend.

Well, heard a lot of praise about the campaign in the past and finally decided to give it a ago yesterday and finished it today. And...I have to agree, I loved it for the most part and it's been ages since I finished a Shooter campaign. The time travel level was just awesome, also loved the snappy controls, wall jumping and overall pacing. (played on PC)

Can only recommend it, yeah it's not that long, but which shooter campaign is it?

As others have mentioned as well, I thought it was just alright. Some of the missions were very creative, but the campaign lacked any sort of cohesion on the story front. I feel like most of the people praising the campaign to high heaven simply went in with low expectations.

BT could have been memorable, but as others have pointed out, the relationship between him and the protagonist was hardly developed.

I vastly prefer DOOM 2016's campaign and DOOM Eternal seems to just be better with AIR DASHES so that will probably supersede it. But Titanfall 2 is cool aswell.

The time travel gimmick was cool, but you only got that ability for one level. An entire game with that ability would be great. Not sure why they limited it to one level. Here's hoping they have it in tf3

I'm having a tough time going through the campaign. The story is just so boring =/.

Level design is cool though I will admit. The level with the moving platforms and the one with the time travel was fun. I just wish I gave a shit about the characters/story.

Totally agree, played it very recently and loved it and I find it REALLY difficult to play single player games as I get older...

Another thing that really impressed me was the fact that they built upon the source engine... game looks amazing considering :)

Man MW2 had such an amazing campaign. I wish I could go back in time to experience it all over again. The multiplayer was amazing too before the try hard commando pro and OMA noob tube people ruined it. The good old days

It also has an amazing MP.

I mean, the Titanfall brand in general is so underrated it's insane.

The first game was incredible too (I think it's even better than 2) but it was released with no campaign and it was Xbox One exclusive back when the One was newish so not many people had it.

It was a "short but sweet" campaign, though I think it falls just short of being amazing.
I wanted a better variety of enemies (who had the same voices and dialogues, btw)

Also, the bosses were built up, but easily dispatched.

The time travel thing seemed gimmicky to me. It was interesting but glad it didn't stick around.
Also seemed stupid in an otherwise pretty grounded series. I felt it undermined the whole plausible space miner thing they had going on and kinda wish they didn't.

The house building thing was also a cool set piece but what I remember most is the largely flat cover shooting as you trundle along. The ending battle in the fully fabricated zone was sick tho.

But that entire fight across the comms towers is legitimately one of the best SP maps in any FPS ever made.

I was actually going to make a topic about Titanfall 2. It looks and play awesome on the PC. I tried a demo before but it was just online but I thought I'd give it another shot and the campaign is very good so far.

... I just wish I gave a shit about the characters/story.

This surprises me, I thought they did great inserting you, the player, into the game world and then thrusting you into partnership with BT that felt close and growing throughout. The interactions with BT during the campaign was super well done IMO. It didn't overstay it's welcome either and pretty much avoided repetitive use of campaign missions as many developers do. Also the boss characters getting a little of the spotlight, fleshed out with different attitudes and mechanics while taunting you during boss fights was bloody well done as well.

Story wise it was bit forgettable. I won't be running out to buy books or lore as I would with say Halo or something. I enjoyed the MP objective modes in TF2 more than anything in TF1. The gameplay, weapons, movement and characters were good but as you say the story makes them somewhat forgettable, aside from BT. He rocked.
