Awesome to see Nintendo games do well in the UK, wonder what the digital cut is like

Yeah, I actually finally just got around to playing this game, and it deserves all these sales and more. In my mind, it is unquestionably the best Mario 3D platformer to this point. In fact, if it hasn't sold on a one-to-one ratio with the hardware, I'd say it's under-appreciated.

Will be interesting to see if either Pokemon Let's Go or Smash can reach this milestone. Gotta imagine that BotW can do so as well, and it'll probably be the next one at that. It's well deserved for SMO, and it's worth mentioning how it debuted at 80k, so it has sold 420k in the year and change since then. That's something else, almost all at full price too.

Yeah but there's some beloved franchise that always does really poorly in the UK. Doesn't Nintendo in general not do well there?

You are correct

Sony and microsoft have been the dominating force for a while.

So to see the switch do good is a great sign, but theres some room for improvement, like the fact that zelda was a stupid price when it launched here

Also well deserved, switch is my first nintendo console besides the wii and odysseys a great game

It's all relative. When you see something nintendo related doing well in the UK, you can safely assume that it did even better in the rest of the world.
Though there are exceptions, I think Let's Go is the most recent exemple, because it performed really well in UK, but only did fine in Japan (Japan seems to be the outlier for this game)

Nintendo might be weaker in UK relative to other territories (in relative terms, that is considering population) BUT Mario is not hated in UK. It's one of the most popular video game characters in UK too. If there's a Nintendo franchise that never stopped selling in UK it's Mario, along with Pokémon.

Mario is and has always been popular here in the UK. Odyssey is an exceptional game, so it's great to hear it's done so well.
