It doesn't have to. It just have to make good money. And it will.
Also who gives a shit? It's just a dumb mini gimmick console like the Nintendo ones.
Nostalgia is a powerful drug. Why are you so sure? £90 is a lot of money to spend on something bad.
What is the biggest December and what are people expecting for Switch?
All fans do it...Don't single anyone out, console of choice praise is a damn disease here.Right, so it's just Sony andNintendo'fanboys' that are bothering you today?
To be honest, I'm not sure what you're seeing here to create such disappointment with Era, but hey.
Just imaginary Sony fans then. What a weird take. Anybody giving Benji and Mat shit for system wars reasons will get themselves kicked, just as it should be.
Biggest is 3.81M for Wii. I think Switch will go over 2.5M this holiday. What is the biggest December and what are people expecting for Switch?
Wouldn't you say it's better to use the PS4's popularity to rapidly get as many people as possible into the PS ecosystem before PS5?
Sacrificing short-term profits for greater long-term gain right?
I don't think Sony is betting as big on this as you may be implying. Worse comes to worse they probably made like 3 or 4 million of these. I am sure the margins are high considering it is $100 so they should be fine.'cause it's a big part of the current console ecosystem. Sometimes those mini consoles sell even more than the full fledged consoles.

That I can agree with. I am sure licensing rights played a huge part in the lineup not being great so on one hand I feel like they did what they could without paying a lot of money to third party publishers for certain games to be in it.Never said that they bet anything on it, just that if it fails it's a missed opportunity of a certain importance.
How much would be considered a fail?Never said that they bet anything on it, just that if it fails it's a missed opportunity of a certain importance.
This was poised to do greater gangbusters than any other classics so far.
Really sad if the execution has lessened it's sales potential. Still think it's gonna sell pretty damn well, maybe the biggest classic regardless.

I have no idea...do we even have numbers for NES Classic and SNES classic ?
Last we heard the NES Classic had sold over 2.3 million units during its first run and the SNES Classic was over 5 million units. Now both combined have exceeded 10m.
Impressive for retro classic plug and play consoles.

Are you sure?I just don't see it. Compared to the NES the PS1 nostalgia isn't there and that gen of 3D games has aged terribly.
Man, the fan reception to the Playstation Classic is harsh as fuck. The replies to that tweet are really showing that. Do we expect it to actually sold well, in a comparable ballpark to NES and SNES Mini ?
Last quarterly results showed Sony was reducing promotional costs going forward which people assumed meant no $199 PS4 when in reality PS4 costs probably dropped enough to offer the $199 in quantities similar to last year.
i uh dont understand the relation to my post, unless you just misquoted
I'd say that if the PS classic end up doing two-three millions in its entire run it'd be a good result.
As a reminder, SIE attributed the upward revision of their annual operating income forecast to the "reductions for promotional and other costs related to PS4 hardware". In that regard and assuming they are only down slightly or flat, they still shipped a shitton of 199$ PS4 all things considered.
For us it would have been more exciting to see a 2 million month even if it means less money for the next quarterly report. I mean they are going to do their best fiscal year ever anyway. But this shows once again how "winning a NPD month" is not even a talking point for the guys in charge.
I doubt it.
I'm not sure it's true for hardware. Software, accessories and services are more profitable than hardware, so I'm not sure it's a good idea to make profit on hardware.PS4 limited stock is indeed kinda sad, would be epic to see what the true sales potential is. And yes 2 million would be easy. If Sony is happy with that, then good for them. Profit matter more than units for sure.

Man, NOTHING stops this train. It is a console from 2013 for god sakePS4 was the top selling console in October: PlayStation 4 was October's best-selling hardware platform in both units and dollars sold. PlayStation 4 hardware unit sales achieved an all-time October high for the platform, while PlayStation 4 hardware dollar sales reached its highest point for an October month since October 2014. October 2018 unit sales of PlayStation 4 reached the highest mark for any PlayStation hardware platform in an October month since the PlayStation 2 in October 2002.
You'd think after the Crash trilogy sold millions, people would stop downplaying PS1 nostalgia but nope.I just don't see it. Compared to the NES the PS1 nostalgia isn't there and that gen of 3D games has aged terribly.
Yeah I have to agree with you. I have a ton of nostalgia for the PS1 and N64. Now I have zero desire to replay those games myself because for me they aged horribly, but the same could be said for the NES and SNES for other people. Point being that there is definitely a market for it.You'd think after the Crash trilogy sold millions, people would stop downplaying PS1 nostalgia but nope.
Poor execution or not, the PS1 Classic will do very well.

Has the Switch a realistic chance of being the best selling console of 2018 if it wins november?

Benji Anymore insights into how Xbox performed over BF? Any particular bundle or model sell well and above another? Also, how are RDR2's legs holding up?
i have the feeling that it won't be gone for long.
Goddamn, Sony."October 2018 unit sales of PlayStation 4 reached the highest mark for any PlayStation hardware platform in an October month since the PlayStation 2 in October 2002."

Xbox One did well but it looks like it was in a similar situation to PS4 in that it was either slightly down YoY or relatively flat.
The X share was very strong though, especially for a holiday month.
All these posts declaring with certainty one console selling more than another... man I wish I had that confidence.
Selling out =/= selling best. All depends on qty out there. Can't sell units that don't exist.
Yep. Selling out won't mean much if you never had a lot of stock and another item may not be sold out, but what sold of it is a greater amount that the item that sold out with a smaller stock. All these posts declaring with certainty one console selling more than another... man I wish I had that confidence.

Yeah I was wondering why soooo many people keep saying "PS4 is winning November 100%" given everything Benji has told usAll these posts declaring with certainty one console selling more than another... man I wish I had that confidence.
