Darksiders 3 reviews are pretty rough. I mean 65-70 is pretty good for me and I usually enjoy those games but you probably wont get the casuals in at that point.

Another game that does this? Ugh.

As a 4K TV user, I kinda have to set my Windows to scale (150%) to see anything at a comfortable sitting distance. This and Killer7... Two games I really want to play but these issues are... Big oof.
Yes, I had 150% scale in 4K and I was hella confused at first and wondered for few hours why game always renders only in 1440p. So now every time I launch the game I have to remember manually switch DPI settings to 100% to get native 4K in-game, because game also ignores "ignore system DPI settings" in exe properties.

I don't care about online stuff much, but yeah, this one too, it's not a simple port. Maybe they took out online components because of Xbox Live integration and they didn't wanted to bother moving it on Steamworks?

Pretty sure it's not in the Windows store version either. Haven't had time to check that version out. I know it's not cross buy , seems it's just done to have as little maintenance as possible.

Still a bit extreme imo as it was a completely different mode, hopefully it doesn't become a trend, imagine if Killer Instinct had no online modes when released on steam lol.

Seems like just a quick fix to cut it then dump the rest at a discounted price.

I'm not into online modes either but the game isn't really advertised as having cut a mode.

Even stranger is that it's not Play Anywhere. It's as though MS took out the MP just so it could say "Sorry, but the PC version is a separate game."
You know what also strange? The fact that Steam version is seemingly handled by MS themselves, not THQ Nordic, there's Microsoft community manager that answers on user questions in community hub and keep posting development updates.

I think Insomniac would have to agree. Given the development predates play anywhere my guess would be an agreement was never finalized.

Nordic is just Microsoft's partner of choice for retail distribution. Quantum Break, Halo Wars, etc. are all published by MS digitally, too. There is a sole exception, though: Ori on GOG.

If I set my Windows Scaling to 100% and find a way to live with that, will games that seem to have this DPI/scaling issue actually render at true 4K?

The complete lack of marketing and acknowledgement leads me to believe that this as more born out of contractual obligation than anything. Like, "after a certain amount of time we can opt to have a PC port financed". mS attitude regarding this does reeks of doing the bare minimum to meet the contractual requirements

Is SEGA holding onto the Yakuza Kiwami port as a Game Awards announcement or what the heck are they waiting for?

Game Awards will be worth it for the Winter of Arcade announcements alone. We'll finally get a release date for Below and more.

Steam doesn't have any High-dpi or zoom/scaling features, does it? :v

Trying to function at 100% scaling on this 4K TV is going to be hell.

Wasn't this change all the way back in 2013? When GUST first got acquired by KT... I guess it might still be true, but I don't play Dynasty Warriors so I don't know the engine.

I'm just curious if things have changed since then...

Edit: Sorry for double-post, forgot to quote Parsnip the first time and alerts don't work retro-actively so...
Yeah, I just assume that it's still the case since we haven't heard anything to contradict it as far as I can recall.

After putting in 40 hours into Hitman 2, I'm ready to move on to Fallout 76. Did the server populations fall off a cliff? I played several hours on multiple days this weekend. 2 to 4 hours Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. I saw NO ONE. Not a single person crossed my path. No white dots on the map, nothing. This is the pc version. is there any metric or service out there that monitors the populations on Bethesda's servers?

So, I beat CrossCode yesterday, and I had some time to think about my experience with it:

I first noticed CrossCode when I heard that Lachsen, a German RPG Maker dev was working on it. Funny enough, he never managed to finsh a single game, but each demo (one for Velsarbor, and the other Tara's Adventure - both of which are referenced in CrossCode btw) demonstrated incredible technical skills and huge ambition. It's no surprise then that CrossCode is what it is: An HTML5 game, but which manages to put most 2D games to shame in terms of graphics and fluency of its controls. The game itself also features a complex physics based (well, specifically the law of reflection) mechanic, combined with a full-fleged element system, with both melee and ranged attacks, and complex combo system to boot. On top of that, it features like 6 really long, puzzle filled dungeons and multiple mid-bosses and a dungeon boss at the end - each more over-the-top than the last.

And yet, the last stretch of the game felt like a chore to me. I guess there really can be too much of a good thing. After some time, I feel my criticisms boil down to two things:

  • I don't like its combat system
It sounds good on paper, but it's like an insanely overstuffed turducken, filled with way to much filling. It looks sooo good, but if you try to cut it open, it literally explodes, destroying your careful Thanksgiving arrangements. I feel the biggest culprit is the overload mechanic: If you use elements for too long, it punishes you by taking element attacks away for like a minute. That's a death sentence in most combat situations, so you always have to switch back to neutral attacks. That's not an issue for most of the game, as neutral attacks are effective too (just less so against certain enemies). But in the second part of the game, it introduces more and more fights where you literally cannot harm an enemy except by using a specific element. And so overload thing feels like it makes things needlessly hard.
It's also really hard to read what happens once there are like 5 enemies + your NPCs on the screen. Total clusterfuck.

And since I dreaded long combat situations, that already made the game less enjoyable as things went on. The second thing is what might have soured me on CrossCode though ...

  • Too many damn puzzles
Actually, the issue is not the sheer size. I spent 50 hours on the The Witness, bingeing through most of it. I fucking breathe and eat puzzles. But CrossCode has the most annoying, dumb, repetitive puzzles ever. The only way their existence can be justified is stretching the game length. It's like Lachsen and Co.felt insecure that their game wouldn't be accepted by "real Gamerz".
What? Only 20 hours to finish our game
you-gotta-pump-those-numbers-up-those-are-rookie-numbers.jpg

As it stands, the game clocked at 36 hours for me, just about. And, yeah, I feel easily a third of that is due to doing the same dumb puzzle in like four different colours.

To conclude, as a backer and general fan of RPGs, I really wanted to like this game. There is a lot of potential here, but if your lofty ambitions aren't matched by your ability and knowledge in game design, maybe turn it down a notch? I feel CrossCode would have been a better game as a smaller, and far shorter experience. As it stands, it really overstays its welcome.

Agents of Mayhem isn't too bad so far. We'll see if it ends up forcing me to do side content to progress pass just taking over strongholds. Which is typically my big complaint with open-world design these days.

Agents of Mayhem is alright. Not perfect, but it is an okay game to play through once if you have free time and got it cheap. Also, it has Ansel support, which means it can't be completely terrible:

Anybody in here has experience using a PSVR headset on PC with Trinus?

I'm obviously well aware that the PSVR Headset is not as good as the other 2 big VR headsets but the deals today are kinda great and while there is some games I want to play on PS4 with it, if I could use it on PC as well it would help justify the purchase....

Seriously. I'm not a big fan of this trend on hyper realistic CGI for beloved animations.
Although I imagine the furry fanbase is enjoying it. (and to be honest I though furry Pikachu looked cute)

Honestly I hope they end up doing animated 3D remakes of the classic Disney movies kinda like tangled and frozen.

Ralph breaks the internet already had the princesses remade in that format, might as well cash on it lol

Ultimate Edition = All content save for Darkseid
Legendary Edition = All content save for two shader packs

The UE is the way to go. You can pick up Darkseid separately for $6, whereas the shader packs are only available as part of the $40 Ultimate Pack DLC bundle.
