Absolutely love itSo far King James over acting has been best part of this entire season
Unless it's a fez or something equally obvious, the writers awareness of the Doctor's past adventures is nonexistent.

The beginning of this episode also had the doctor intending for them to see Elizabeth I's coronation. She could have teased her companions with the story of their wedding. It's not a big deal but a missed opportunity and would have been funny. To be fair, the 11th Doctor didn't remember the Great Intelligence. Could be that it's hard for the Doctor to keep track of every enemy he/she has faced, considering she is now over 1200 years old.

Apparently Chibnall wanted Capaldi to stay on for Series 11, I'm so happy that didn't happen, for Capaldi's sake.
I swear I read that Chibnall was happy for Capaldi to stay on but I just assumed he was being polite after he had already decided to leave.
I was surprised too, but the source is Steven Moffat.I agree with you about 13's moral hypocrisy and I feel like even if unintentional a reactive reckoning is coming, but - what's the source on this? I've literally never seen this said anywhere, fwiw (and I soak up a lot of silly Doctor Who BS). Like, we know Tennant was offered quite a lot in monetary terms to stay on for Series 5 and we even know how the series arc would've played out with him, but given the BBC had tried to give Capaldi the shove a couple of times & briefed to press against him in an attempt to move the show on I find this really difficult to believe (despite loving him in the role myself)
"Chris tried to persuade him to stay [on for Series 11 in 2018]."
He adds: "I knew it was a possibility that he'd leave because Doctors tend to do three years. I thought that he might want to opt out, rather than go through the trauma of a change in command and maybe leaving a year later anyway. But I think he came close to staying."

And Series 5 with the Pandorica would have beeen a hell of an exit for Tennant. I think Amy was definitely a better fit for Matt Smith though, and the Peter Pan vibe of Eleven.
It's been to long since this has been posted:
THE MAN WHO NEVER WOULD
Today's episode is probably my favorite one this season.
Also, Alan Cumming's King James was fantastically over the top when needed, and surprisingly on point at times. I hope this isn't the last we've seen of him.
So like Kerblam?
Huh, that's very interesting, especially since Capaldi said he hadn't spoken to Chibnall around the end of Series 12. It's irrelevant anyway though, I guess... we all know they wanted a clean break. I think it's been good, though I also think this series has suffered (versus S5) by not having some sort of continuity thread. River, for all her faults, did wonders.
I felt the episode on the whole was ready to fall apart at various points, but yeah, it collapsed at the ending. I just don't understand what's going on with the writers this season.

I've just seen what might be my favourite TARDIS interior design yet. Doctor Who Magazine did a feature this month on the various interiors over the years, and in the corner of one page they put this little beauty by long-time Who alum Peter McKinstry:

There's touches of Smith's second console room in some of the colouring and lighting, and a lot of influence from McGann's too, especially in the flying buttresses. I absolutely love the cathedral-like ceiling, and the roundels are even still present towards the back.
My favorite one is the 7th in the movie .... that mix of cozy librarian house with the sci fi controls give the perfect fantasy but sci fi that I like so much about doctor who
I think so. I was hoping that Ryan would say 'fuck it, I'll go with you to London' at the end, lol.I liked this episode mostly for Alan Cummings and it feeling like a Dr. Who episode. The ending did seem a little sloppy, but it wasn't the out of nowhere shit like theAmazonKerblam! episode.
Am I to assume King James had a thing for Ryan?
James had several male favourites and was known to be quite physically affectionate. He is played by Alan Cumming who is openly bisexual, so it's there in the subtext.
