think of a blank sheet of paper and what color pens you'd use to write on them, basically :D

I never understood why people were so excited for this game based just on its NEO geo pocket looks. Besides that everything pointed out to it being a very shallow experience.Lol Pocket Rumble is my most disappointing game of 2018. Did it ever get an update? It's single player was the barest of bones.

Btw, I just finished membrane and almost 100%'d it. Great physics based puzzle platformer that really made me think at times. I definitely recommend it.

It's another campaign, not technically a sequel story-wise because it takes place at the same time.
It's not one of those cases where if you have one game the other is obsolete (like, for example, Attack on Titan).
It's more like asking whether you should get Majora's Mask if you already have Ocarina of Time.
My understanding is that retailers don't want to carry physical games that cost less than $30, as that is "Clearance" fodder (and games priced under $30 are often tossed in the clearance bin to boot). The eShop then follows those prices as Nintendo refuses to have digital games priced cheaper than their physical equivalents lest the retailers get pissed off.No, the price of the physical version generally extends to the eshop, unless it's like limited run indie prints or something.
Battlechasers, This Is the Police, Titan Quest, Sine Mora, etc all are priced $10 more than other platforms for both physical and digital versions.
The general excuse given by publishers is the higher cost of the game card, but in truth most of the Switch Tax games fit on the smallest sized cards which are alleged to cost no more to publish on than a BD. True or not, most other publishers choose not to charge more, regardless of what size game cards they use, so it's a suspect excuse coming from the likes of THQ.

Best Buy has it for $30, Amazon has it for $20Is NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 out on Switch physically? I've checked Best Buy and Target and not seen it, but I have seen PS4 physical versions in both places.
I don't want the digital copy if there's a physical version. Maybe I should check Wal-Mart tonight.
Yup, when they announced the game SF 30 Anniversary Collection wasn't available, as well as all the other SNK ports, and DBFZ wasn't coming out in just a few months.Aside from looking cool, I think there is a desire for more fighters with less complex inputs. Plus, Switch at the time still had few fighters with online. That's changed a lot since Pocket Rumble released.
It's definitely on my Wishlist, but I don't know if I'm in the mood for another platformer like that when I've played Shantae so recently. On a positive note: I watched the Monster Boy trailer coming out on Dec 4th and that game looks AMAZING. It's pricey at $39.99, but that fits what y'all were discussing earlier in the thread about retail games needing to be < $30.
it's because it also comes in a fancy pants retail versionOh man didn't even know the game Toki was getting a remake. I LOVED this game as a kid on arcades and the NES. $29.99 still seems like a lot though.
It just came out recently. Not much time for it to "ever" go on sale.Has Cities: Skyline Edition ever gone on sale? My son wants it for Christmas.

Pocket Rumble could've been a success if it had been released closer to when it was announced, early in the Switch library. But yeah, it's competition caught up to it.
... also I re-downloaded Dead Cells after playing it literally for 1 hour on release day and uninstalling it. I thought, "I need to give that game another chance" and tried it again today. NOPE. I can't understand what people see in this game, the combat is so... button-mash-WTF-is-happening-dodge-roll-throw-a-sentry into a pack of enemies and see what happens. Man, it's so unelegant. I don't get what this game is going for. I really like 2D action platformers, that would describe half of my Switch library. But yeah, I can't get into Dead Cells. If nobody had told me it was a Masterpiece game, I would've personally scored the thing like 1 out of 5, instead of "Okay this is probably a great game, but I don't get it and it's clearly not for me."

Still debating if I'm going to get Doom . I probably should since it only has been on sale once or twice before. Just upgraded to a 200 gb card from 64 gb, as I was having to archive so many big games(Fire Emblem Warriors)
is the Child of Light Switch port well done? Very tempting at $10. Enjoyed it on Wii U and would love having it on the go .
other games I'm considering are Steam Dig 2, Townsmen(anyone played it?) and DK Tropical Freeze .
i have had Tiny Metal on my wishlist for months but never seen it on sale. Bummer.
I don't get the love for Dead Cells either. Would get my vote for most overrated game of the year. It's ok but it didn't hold my interest at all. Different games I know but Hollow Knight blows it out of the water for my money.
I agree. I had just finished Hollow Knight the day before starting Dead Cells this summer and I was super disappointed with Dead Cells.
As far as 2D Action games of 2018 I would rank: Mega Man 11, Hollow Knight, The Messenger all as much much more fun games than DC.

I didn't like Dead Cells that much. It's...okay. Way prefer Hollow Knight for a similar experience.
Hollow Knight is a Metroidvania. Dead Cells is a level-based roguelite. These games aren't similar. The core structure and gameplay loop is completely different between both games.
I hope so as I will definitely jump back into the game once it does. I'm usually not sensative to framerate stuff, but something about how the Switch version hitches just messed me up.Dead Cells 1.1 patch should be hitting Switch soon.
Huge update.
I'm also going to skip on Smash Bros because I've never played one and have no idea if I would like it.
I just beat kuso on the unlimited lives mode. Very suprised with the game. Tight platformer with great price where you can mold the difficult how you want. It can create checkpoints anywhere on the level.
After the disappointment of the Ultimate Chicken Horse (I didn't like the gameplay and the single player mode is very confusing), I have recovered the mood to play more 2D platformers in Switch.
I tried to complete it with the minimal checkpoints.

Only game I ended up going for in the "cyber deals" sale is Uurnog Uurnlimited and I'm shocked no one really talks about this game. It's an incredibly strange and unconventional puzzleish platformer that seems totally content with being not very tightly designed and I'm loving it. The only mention of it I can remember seeing outside of the eshop is from Nathalie Lawhead (developer of Everything is Going to Be OK) on twitter and I definitely can see some parallels between her own aesthetic and design sensibilities and those present in Uurnog. It's maybe a bit too unforgiving at times but I hope more people check it out, it's great.

Did you try the adjustable modifers in Celeste to.make the game easier? It's a great game that makes itself accessible by using it's options, give them a try!Guys, any thoughts on Shining Resonance Refrain or Wonder Boy?
Admittedly I am not enjoying Celeste as much as everyone else. It's so hard
Guys, any thoughts on Shining Resonance Refrain or Wonder Boy?
Here's some Switch footage of Toki -- it is the first three stages & their boss battles.
I did make some of those adjustments, but I almost feel like I'm cheating by doing so :(Did you try the adjustable modifers in Celeste to.make the game easier? It's a great game that makes itself accessible by using it's options, give them a try!
I will vouch for Wonderboy at $10! But keep in mind it's literally a Master System game with a beautiful coat of paint: it's short and has slippery non modern controls. Frankly I'd you didn't play games like this in the 80s, it's going to be off-putting. But it's a wonderful game, and it's a great 2 ish hour experience that I wanted to play through again because it was so bright and colorful and had beautiful music.
Shining Resonance is like an even cheaper Tales of game. If you're into those games, I'd wait for a steeper sale. I've been playing for three or four hours, and there's no real customization, the story is kind of boring, and the combat is brainless until boss fights.
