Finish line employee falsely accused two POC of stealing. Has them detained and finds nothing

God, reminds me of a coworker who thought a bunch of high schoolers, most of whom were black, stole some items from us. He chased after them and confronted them and later found the items on a different shelf. I was so pissed and embarrassed.

How dare you try to steal from the place that employs me for $11/hr you criminal scum!

She completely vanishes at the end too outta embarrassment.

Sort of a related anecdote, but I was heading home from a dinner with friends and we decided to visit a gift shop that was along the same street. I hadn't planned on purchasing anything per se, but there were a lot of neat trinkets, plushies, etc... Except... the owner followed us everywhere we went. Presumably to keep an eye on us stealing or whatever.

It made me extremely uncomfortable and we left soon afterwards. I can't even imagine it being a reality and escalating to arrests or deaths like it does for black folks.

I once saw some kids walk in and take a bunch of games off the shelf and walk out, I have no idea if they thought the games were inside or if they wanted the box

What the hell! Ok, first, it's not ok to handcuff someone because of being accused of steeling and are being completely calm and cooperative. Second, did I miss someone those bags belonged to giving her permission to search through them? smh

Damn straight, you don't get to accuse me and then keep my money. I'd buy what I wanted from somewhere else. They'd never get my business or that of my immediate family members again.

I'd also not admit to having shop lifted in the past and having learned the hard way while I was in cuffs either.

Some lady lost her job and got it back again due to a couple of assholes and now that's proof racism accusation are running wild and they aren't deserved. Whew.
