Got the plat from Spyro 2, felt like the trophies here were a bit more random task busy work compared to the first weaving its in more organically with the in-game 100% ride (well I say this but the first game did make me run around a dock trying to flame barely visible cogs), but otherwise it's simple enough and the ones that are set up to be a pain can be cheesed with the super dragon breath.
At first I was sure Spyro 2 was a straight upgrade to 1, a game more in line with its contemporaries with more characters/plot, varied tasks and gimmicks to mix things up and stages that felt more immediately open in a way that suits collectathon stylings.
Now that I'm done I'm thinking it and the first game are around the same level, each having pros and cons over the other.
I do think that 2 fails to actually feel like it's ramping up, slowly but surely the feeling of things being overly familiar without stepping up the challenge began to grate a fair bit, it has lower lows than the original (Zephyr leaps to mind) as well.
I did like each stage having more personality with the intro/outro scenes, the mostly unique allies and enemies (though some of these were just random as all hell, what the heck is with not hansel and not gretal in a desert palace world?), bosses were actually like bosses this time and on the whole there's small additions like the end of glide jump that can make bits and pieces of the platforming more engaging.
Another solid 8/10 and another "I don't remember any of the music, is this just the remastered OST being kinda bland?"
I think I'm Spyro'd out in regards to three, more of the same here is too much of the same, I dipped in to see what the setup was about and to try out one of the new characters (the kangaroo), I'll likely finish it but no 100% run this time, I don't have it in me to keep commanding sparx to run me back across a map having missed a small green gem in a grassy corner.
