I mean Sora was always in question but he'd happen a hundred times over before they'd pick Lara Croft.
Pretty sure this has been discussed already, and it's ultimately a minor thing, but it seriously bugs me a lot that they took out Mario's iconic red+white fire flower alt. I love the new Mario Maker and Odyssey alts, and I even kinda like limiting every character to 8 (so I'm not opposed to cuts in general), but like seriously....of the 7 established Mario alts, that is EASILY the last one you should ever ever cut. Like why on Earth does Mario need a Waluigi alt? Luigi has one too and it makes more sense for Luigi to have it.
I hardly even play Mario lol, but it just bugs. In a game with millions of little details and almost every one of them is perfectly right, this just stands out as baffling to me.

I'm sitting here thinking "why couldn't they just add alts instead of replacing old ones?". A really baffling decision indeed
It's a travesty for sure. Like, it's just a second green Yoshi. How hard is it going to be to tell the difference when they're both on screen?

The sad part was that Black Yoshi was kind of a highly sought after color, and I remember people being very happy to see it in Sm4sh. It was probably the most commonly used, too. And, Sak just goes and cuts it for Arts & Crafts...

Assuming they aren't already planning on giving us more alts (for a price or for free), I hope the lack of fire Mario boosts the demand and complaints about it so that they consider it. There's also the characters that have a split, and now Ike is one of them.

Yeah, and I loved that game, but I meant Nintendo R&D1 who were Wario's parents. And now they're no longer a studio. Good Feel is busy now with Yoshi
16 alts for 70+ characters might have run into space issues - they probably just wanted to make it uniform this time, and there aren't that many characters who'd really benefit from another 8.
Damn I didn't knew that. I don't play as black Yoshi, but it makes me feel sad. One of my best friend liked to take black Yoshi in Wii U when he played Yoshi. It's the most bad ass Yoshi.
Crafted Yoshi is super cool, but it's a shame that some alts are cut.
Same for Fire Mario.

Amiibo stuff affects the AI as well, and you can "level up" characters by the proxy of spirits in applicable modes.

Is there a chance the Smash pro controller has a further 'fixed' d-pad? Do we think Nintendo even knows/cares about it?
There's a chance and they're almost certainly aware that people were complaining about it.
Care though, that's a different matter and I doubt anyone can say for sure. If it was a manufacturing defect they'll likely have it fixed in new revisions, if it's just that way because that's how they made it, doubtful.
That's honestly how I feel the situation is, supposedly the Xenoblade one was improved (not fixed) though so I suppose that is 'proof' they are willing to look at it at least. I already have 2 (launch and Xenoblade one) but if they did fix it for the Smash one I'd def buy a 3rd and then sell the launch one.
Such a wonderful controller, just that one damn problem. :(
How much info do we have on the music in the game, now that the game is out in the wild? Has anyone out there made a list or something of which songs we know to be in as of now?
I've seen a spreadsheet or two floating around with every song people have been able to confirm combing through footage.
Probably a day before release like Mario and Zelda.

Nostalgia Countdown! Who still remember E3 Brawl announcement like it was yesterday? It was bizarre how they announced Brawl at E3 after their usual E3 conference so it was pretty crazy to see some news on the site and seeing Snake there. #SmashBrosUltimate #SmashBros

No Mother stages in the demo, so we have no way of knowing.

The Melee player is so true. Specially the "Leffen, Mango, Scar and Toph" part.
It's weird that after sitting on the roster as it stands for awhile, the only thing even slightly bugging me is the SF representation, which is so strange because I'm not even much of a fan of SF. They put a lot of effort into making Ken distinct from Ryu, so I wish they'd just gone that little bit further and put Akuma in instead. I know Ken has the whole "original echo fighter" thing going for him, but he's much less interesting an addition than Akuma would have been. Also, Guile in as an AT instead of Chun-Li is a crime.
All I can find are mixed reports of some people saying its better, and others saying it's still awful.
For me it's never personally been a huge issue, but I have triggered an input I wasn't trying to more than a few times. I've only used one released around launch day though.
Easily, I bought one last week for this game, but playing Odyssey, it's fun.
