Just wait until you get your first primal ancient:)

and it's a blackthorne:'(
I already did it few weeks ago ;p

I KNEW IT !!!

Haha, but I had a lot of luck just after in a rift : the good start - then, in the same rift
What a shock, I was toying with fake local players to test the Switch version itself (even if you don't touch the JoyCons, they are following you, or teleport, and you can loot for them so you can play normally without using the other controllers).

Just got my first Primal and of course it's a dud: a Pandemonium Loop from an Act V bounty cache. It's worse than both the rings I have equipped (one red down-arrow on all three categories), because the rolls themselves are crap. Ah well, putting it in my collection for posterity.

Sadly if it doesnt already have a socket and a free stat to reroll, sounds like garbage yeah. Don't forget that the arrows are just a quick indicator, many things like elemental dmg and skill dmg dont reflect on those.

I feel like since this isnt pvp of any kind it should have been cross platform between all consoles and pc.
It's two separate versions of the game, no way that'll happen. It would be too much work for Blizzard to make the two clients compatible.

Now cross-console MP, absolutely. The lack of it in D3 has been really bumming me out. My friend is legitimately poor, he can't afford to buy new hardware. I wish we could play together with him on PS4.

Why not? Its not like they have pvp.

It's not even related to PvP for me. I prefer keep the PC version more or less clean (less cheaters, that's why you can't trade items on seasonal characters only on consoles). It's not possible btw, the console version is different from the PC one (on PC there is no roll evasion, no crappy host system, the power globes are very different, and maybe other details).

I only see few things are different that can be fixed in one patch

Ahh cheaters, didnt know you can cheat diablo 3 offline.

But wait a sec so you can trade gears on seasonal character ? I can transfer my gears from non seasonal to the seasonal one ,or did I get that wrong.

I mean, it's more than that. PC version is always online. The entire backend is different. All items are stored on the server, like Destiny. The difficulties are different, mob density is different, inventory system is different. It would be a non-trivial amount of work for a 6 year old game. Maybe in the sequel.

And yeah, before seasons the console versions of D3 were completely dominated by hacked items and dupes. Luckily console seasons have just enough of an online requirement to cut down on that.

Also no, of course you can't transfer items from a non-seasonal to a seasonal. Season characters have no trading ability whatsoever.

I meant on PC you can trade between seasonal characters (I mean different players), on console you can't. Sorry for the confusion.

I imagine it's because typically games with pvp, which are highly competitive, are usually restricted to just their specific platform so others might not have any type of advantage over them.

I mean that is one consideration but it hasn't stopped Fortnite or Rocket League. More prosaically it generally comes down to tech and business decisions - how does the game connect (p2p or client-server?), and who is hosting any servers? Can the platforms even be made to talk to each other without breaking certification? What hoops do the platform holders want developers to jump through before they will even allow it? What about cheating/hacking/duping on less secure platforms?

If it were as simple as flicking a switch you would see it a lot more often, regardless of control advantages.

Guess I'm finally getting switch online. Thank you Walmart for $17 Diablo. Haven't played since D3 launch on PC. Think I'm gonna start with a seasonal crusader. Always liked playing Paladin classes whenever they're available.

Just read about that price from /r SwitchDeals and am kicking myself because I can't go there today. Here's hoping tomorrow I'll still be able to find it.

Any idea how to increase survivability on a necromancer using the season gift set? (Skeleton Archers)

I dish out damage numbers above 10 billion and could probably go way higher than GR46, but a bad combination of elites can still occasionally kill me before I can heal. I'm pumping paragon into life and armor now but it's a slow process and probably doesn't scale that well.

Just got D3 last week on sale for XOX for my first experience with the series, loving it! Then saw the price error post prior to driving past Walmart on the way to Thanksgiving dinner with the in laws. Got lucky now I am saturated in this game. Any chance this goes cross platform?

So I've maxed out my Wizard and am taking him through greater rifts pretty easily (I think up to level 15 so far). Two questions for you fine folks:

  • Is it ever worth empowering rifts? Or is the trade-off not worth it?

  • I'm not sure what to try for my next character. I've played most of the classes through level 70 on PC but have not really touched Monk, Demon Hunter, or Witch Doctor. Which is the most pure fun to use with the most varied and inventive skills?

Get some Armor or Resist to All on your Gear, +X Life after kill or Life on Hit as well.

You may also want to get The Furnace (legendary weapon that deals increased damage against elites). Also max out the Bane of the Powerful Gem and stick that in a ring or amulet. Lower the difficulty if you are having a tough time with elites, so you can comfortably farm better gear.

Initially it's not worth it. However, once you get the Boon of the Hoarder gem (drops from killing Greed in the Vault), you'll have more gold than you'll know what to do with. After that: yes, worth it. :P

In terms of most inventive: I'd say Witch Doctor. While most other characters attack with blades or magic, this guy throws jars of spiders, can conjure bats that are on fire, summons literal walls of the living dead, can turn into an exploding chicken, and much more.

Picked this up for my stepdaughter and I to play split screen. Played it at launch on PC solo for like 20 hours but never really touched it again. She loves Borderlands, so I feel like she will enjoy this. Anything I should know about the game before we start? Should I take her through the story or the free play mode?

Definitely start with campaign, as it gives context for Adventure mode. Other than that: have fun (re)discovering D3. Story aside, this is almost a completely different game than it was at launch.

You'll probably be around level 45-55 once you finish the campaign, depending on how much side content you went through. After that, start up Adventure Mode and start doing bounties to get craft materials. Here you'll also see Zoltan Kulle in town; talk to him and he'll direct you to Kanai's Cube, which can do a lot of nice things with bounty craft materials.

A nephalem obelisk is also in each town. Use it to freely create infinite random dungeons with random enemies (Nephalem Rifts), or use a keystone from Rift bosses to create special timed dungeons (Greater Rifts) to test your character/team's strength and obtain various legendary gems. That's basically it: good luck on your hunt for better stuff!

Congrats on the 15 Forgotten Souls! (it should really be more than that for salvaging Primals)

I've gotten 4 Primals so far but thankfully one of them was actually useful and I use most of the time (Nemesis Bracers w/Fire %/Dex/Vit/CC).

I already have max level gems in my armor sockets to increase AllResist, and pretty much every one of my items has been enchanted already so I can't swap out anything sensible for +Armor.

Killing elites isn't the problem, I'm doing way more damage than necessary - the problem is getting hit by some combination of movement impairment and ranged damage like mortars before my minions even START ATTACKING the elites. Once they're locked on they get one-shot.
I'm thinking of leveling and then switching to that legendary gem that reduces non-physical damage and increases resistances massively below 50% life.

Also how the hell do I get the Jesseth set. Multiplying my damage by another 400% sounds bonkers.

If you haven't, try equipping the Blood Rush skill which should help you escape from any immobilizing effects, and the Final Service passive to prevent you from dying once every 60 seconds. If you're one-shotting everything you can probably afford to lose a little DPS.

The best way to get Jesseth I think is to upgrade rare one handed scythes and shields at the cube. You'll need a stack of Deaths Breaths to do so.

I've just entered the gr60's with Jesseth and the season set and I'm having similar issues with surviving, generally ok until something one-shots me while Final Service is on cooldown. I swapped out a DPS ring (convention of elements) for Unity to split damage with my follower and that effectively halved the damage I was taking which is great and means I'm not dying, but a rift is taking 11 minutes or so. I should be ok once I roll a socket on the Unity ring, and reforge my scythe. Then push on till the next wall and rejig again.

I do find it interesting that compared to before seasons started, simple gear stats aren't the end-all, be-all anymore. It's all about set bonus builds and clever combinations of multipliers now. Which does make the builds feel more "interesting", but we're still mostly being railroaded by gear sets that the devs designed, in the end.

Is this online? Like can I join somebody else's adventure mode? I remember doing this on the PS3 when I bought it back then, but I haven't been able to do it on the Switch

It is online, but you need to have a Nintendo online account. You can set privacy settings for your own game so anyone can drop in/out of your games, friends only, or locked to everyone.

Hehe. I'm starting to think the game is programmed to give us all a shitty Primal for our first one. Keep at it, though, and the good ones will come. Getting a primal Frydehr's Wrath for my Akkhan Crusader was one of the highlights of my entire D3 career.

Ah alright. How would I be able to join somebody else's game, though?
Just go Quick Match and choose your difficulty and game type (rifts/bounties/greater rifts/etc). It'll either find you a matching game or - if none exist - create one that others can join.

I just bought this game last night! If anyone wants to play with me, here is my friend code: 3667-7616-0690. I've joined the Discord server too. Thank you for adding me, now let's get to extensive playing.

Currently working on my seasonal character that is a Demon Hunter.

Welp, at least it's not a bug and my luck is just shit - thanks for the replies. I've only had one Primal drop so far too but I know those are rare.

I do somehow have two Unity's, not that I'm using them though.

I haven't been getting too deep into adventure mode yet, I just keep making new characters to try out.

Got to 60 or 70 with my Necromancer playing through the campaign, but it was such a cake walk and I wanted something a little more active. I'm sure I'll go back to it on a higher difficulty which should help.

Started a Demon Hunter which is pretty fun so far, but then I just started a Witch Doctor (which i played a lot on PC way back at launch), and it's pretty fun but really weak so far on Expert (but I don't even have a full set of gear yet). I know it gets pretty fun skills later on like a bit ogre Frankenstein dude, but early on it feels a little limited, died quite a few times, but on the other hand it's a bit refreshing after the Necromancer where I died twice the whole campaign.

How do the seasonal rewards work? I've just finished the second set of seasonal tasks, but I'm not sure how to get the equipment or the pet.
