1) Its a nickname apparently, not their real name
2) They dont even have the accent to properly write it
3) Without the accent its an anti-Semitic slur

Im sorry, as a mexican myself, let me tell you that expecting people, specially teenagers, gamers and users of the internet, to properly type with all the correct punctuation and accents is incredibly unrealistic and no one does it unless it's a formal communication in a work environment.

It's like expecting a teen girl to not write her texts like "r u ther hun?"

I'm quite mad some people here are like "fuck your feeling, Jews - we want to use this very specific nickname, even though it's a well recognized racial slur all over the internet" and then calling us insensitive and that we need to understand multi-culturalism. It's not like the word means dick it Bobb or something harmless - it's a very hateful racial slur and I think it's very understandable that Jewish people would never, ever want to encounter that word. Sorry for that Enriques, but I guess you'll just have to go with Queque or something online, very sorry for your great loss.

To make it clear: I'm not American. This is not an American slur.

Yeah, it's so hard and tiring to push for law that's fair to consumers, let's just roll over and let them have their way with us. Let's see how well that "physical only" strategy works out once companies phase out physical games altogether (and I hope you don't play on PC).

It's funny how so many people say "idealistic" when they really mean "too much work".

I'm not going to entertain this blatant whataboutism with a response. Feel free to not lift a finger and admit defeat while others push for your rights.

Well, yeah I do think it's too much work, especially for a cause that I just don't think is that important in the grand scheme of things. All good if you feel differently.

The 'just buy physical' strategy is working out just fine for me right now so I will stick with that. I'm using it in conjunction with 'don't buy from dodgy videogame retailers' strat.

Thanks for fighting for my digital rights though, good luck and please let us know how you get on!

Look at the OP screeshot. Not the quoted one. I assume that the screenshot posted in Reddit. It has a clear approximation to "[email protected]". It is pretty clear. So much denial, now I'm wondering.
That's an R. The typeset between the R and N aren't similar enough for you to have this much of a stick up your ass about it. The n takes up significantly more space; Unless you're going to go on about how the dude erased a chunk of his email address.

In English, in America. That doesn't take priority over all other languages and their use of the same sounds to mean entirely different things.

i wouldn't have a problem if they apply this to english words with offensive meanings elsewhere. even english words with different meanings in english. if "bigdick" gets banned, well, sorry richard

Spain
User Banned (1 week): Trolling, history of similar infractions.
With all respect, bullshit. Kike is not offensive in any latinamerican country, or Spain for the case (the countries I lived in or know, at least).
Just did a quick google, see:
Randy is a complete normal american nickname right? Well, its an slang to call prostitutes in India. Should Sony start banning Randy-like user names? mmm.
But you don't understand. What is important is whether or not it is offensive to the glorious UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, aka the center of the world and the universe. Every decision every person in the world makes should be based on whether the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA would find it acceptable or not. If it's not acceptable for people in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA then fuck you go away and never come back. Who cares if it's offensive in India tho lol fucking irrelevant country they are not the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Anyway sorry about your loss lol sorry that's what you get for not having the opinion of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA constantly on the back of your mind lol fucking mexicans thinking they can make decisions based on their own culture haha lmao pathetic

I will say this once: Everyone who thinks the user here is wrong or at fault is being racist. Sorry if you don't like hearing that, but it's the truth. :^)

You positive? From what ive seen the e is accented
That makes no difference. Plenty of people spell it without the accent so I don't know who defined it as the one true way to spell the nick name. The assumption that the accent is the definer of what makes it a slur or not is silly. Particularly when not everybody has the means to type accents on words easily unless you have a Spanish auto correct for some word to give you a hand.

Hell I can't even remember how to write them regularly on windows. I think you need to type the letter then the ' symbol and press space.

Kike is a very common shortname to Enrique like Quique and Kiko. Its also used as a real name since a while ago, like many other "long" names have abbreviated forms also becoming born names (Anton for Antonio, Paco for Francisco, Alex for Alejandro...).
What accent? There's no accent in the name Kike.
No spanish-speaking country has anyone called Kike because of anti-semitism, its because its a normal name.

It's always cool to know how words across the world can be everyday use in one country and racial in another.

Again, kike and kiké are different. One is an anti-Semitic slur, the other is a Spanish nickname
Wrong, there is no accentuation in the spanish word Kike because it would mean that that "ké" would be the predominant accentuated part of the word which is not the case. Kike in spanish has the strongest accentuation in the first part of the word (Kee), unlike french for example where accents change the pronunciation of the accentuated letter, in Spanish accents are there to point out what part of the word you should place the intonation. A word with no accents are implied to have the intonation on the first part of the word.

okay i just googled it as "kiké" and it seems to only be used for Kiké Hernandez. He probably choose to spell his name like that (you can bend gramar rules for names).
But thats the only use i can find, generally its just Kike with the focus on the first syllabe which means no accent

Edit:

According to wikipedia

"His nickname is Kike (/ˈkiːkeɪ/ KEE-kay),[2][3] sometimes spelled Kiké during English-language television broadcasts to prevent it from being confused with a derogatory slurthat "

so the change in spelling is on purpose

It is? Then why didn't we all stay there for informational purposes? Even more so after what that place has turned into it shouldn't receive clicks. Less awful outlets are banned here.

Just to be clear, I was simply saying it's not against the rules, not commenting on or making any sort of implication regarding the post-exodus state of GAF. If you believe that's too lax and the site should be added to the URL blacklist, then by all means, contact an admin.

That's within the context of avoiding inter-forum drama. Linking to GAF is discouraged but not the point that it's disallowed entirely.

LMAO....when you erase half of an "n"...it looks like an "r". That shit looks like "[email protected]". Or an approximation...minimum..

What is this person gonna use next...."[email protected]"?
LMAO.

No. But why does your quoted image look different than the OP screenshot?

What is ignorance? The email in the OP screenshot seems so say "[email protected]". Do you think that's really Pena Nieto?

Que crees? Que no se lo que hablo?

The bottom image, which is the OP screenshot, seems awfully close to "[email protected]". That seems to be the official reply from Sony.

Can I ask you to stop trying to guess this guy's email address? They've specifically blocked it out. Let's stop it.

TS, you shouldnt apologize for your nickname. If it is a racial slur in another language/culture is not your fault.

So the only way to deal with a bad PSN name is to ban the entire account, blocking them from both online and nullifying all their purchases?
Did anyone with a brain participate in the design of PSN's infrastructure?
How are they decades behind XBL and Steam, both of which existed before PSN?
Why wasn't "kike" in a "banned words" list? It took until 2018 for Sony to discover a slur that has been around for decades/centuries?

Basic Spanish grammar. Kike is a two syllables word. Since it doesn't have a title, the accent is in Ki. This is called a Palabra Grave. These kind of words only have a tilde if the word doesn't end in a vowel, n or s. In this case, word ends in e, so no tilde.
If the accent was in Ke, it would be Ké and that would be a Palabra Aguda.

Tell someone in Spain to call you Kiké. They'll be laughting at you nonstop for hours

It's Kike.

Sorry for that Enriques, but I guess you'll just have to go with Queque or something online, very sorry for your great loss.

Yeah, a name may not mean something to you, but for a lot of people does.

This can go on forever. We spanish have already admitted it IS a slur and out of here sure is wrong using it.

But we Kikes are kikes.

Do you imagine spanish fat people going agaisnt Bandai Namco for calling one of their characters Eddie GORDO?

How words work depending on the language.

Was watching yesterday Castle in the Sky, and a particular place was called Laputa.
Needless to say, saying that in Spanish sounds so weird, especially since if you remove la, it becomes an offensive term. I wonder if they ever replaced that word in a Spanish dub.

No, just a troll trying to derail the thread with unrelated politics.
The Enrique guy himself was trying to post his Twitter post on Reddit earlier (to get it shared and noticed), but he couldn't because of Reddit limitations:

Wait they banned his account and told him he could get it back maybe when name changing gets implemented? Man fuck Sony support.

This is actually bullshit on the account of the sony support guy, because to my understanding they can change your name if it's offensive somehow (suck_my_dick or whatever) but not not offensive enough to warrant a ban.

So they sony guy was making shit up

Sony customer support is ass anyways. They banned me from chat support when I requested a refund for no man's sky. And it's not like I came in complaining, I've never been an ass to customer support and have always been professional and calm with every interaction since I know it isn't these people's fault. It's hilarious.
