I don't think it's great, personally. Level design is mediocre and it's way too easy -- nothing like the Ninja Gaiden games that inspired it.
I believe it's worth it on a cheap price (idk what's the exact price at the moment).
While difficulty wise it's NOTHING compared to old Ninja Gaiden games, the soundtrack and different levels made it worthwhile.
There's a reason this game has some nominations for the Game Awards, even if one does not pay much attention to those awards.
I'm not sure what else was nominated but a lot of amazing indie games came out this year, and so I can't really see The Messenger making the ranks, but to each his own.
The soundtrack, really? I heard from people who care deeply about that aspect that it was disappointing.
Definitely don't see why they would think so, it's a great soundtrack.
It's a really clever, inventive game. no la mulana 2, not by a long shot, but it's good, quality wise. Really good. Felt more fresh than Hollow Knight to me, for example. It does do a lot more than one might originally expect.
I usually love most music.
I had to mute The Messenger when playing it. It has some of the most annoying music I've ever heard.
Yes, I talked to the dev this month at MegaMTL and they told me it was coming in april.
Absolutely. The 2nd half of the game is weaker, but that's to say it's still really good. The action and movement in the game is so god damn satsifying too. I didn't care much for the story, but the humor and dialogue is great without being cringey. And of course graphically it's gorgeous.
