Someone talk me out of (or into) Skyrim on Switch. Is the game worth $30, esp if I have it on PC? Are there PC mods that make the game amazingly better to the point that I should just go that route? Because frankly playing on the Switch handheld mode is my current preference for gaming these days.

It's the same game you have on PC, except without the improvements you can add to it yourself on PC. There aren't major, major improvements for Skyrim as there are for other Bethesda engine games (like New Vegas or Morrowind), but there are a ton of small ones that really add up (like horses that travel at a decent speed instead of the super slow vanilla ones that are barely faster than walking, or the ability to make books you haven't read glow in the dark, or even simply getting rid of over-encumbering).

It's a portable Skyrim.

Sorry, not going to talk you out of it.

DOOM is amazing, well worth it at 30$. it looks great (i'm playing on handheld mode mostly), and is an amazing game. i never expected to like it this much when i got the game cuz i'm not the biggest FPS fan, but i'm super hooked.

Thinking about getting Blaster Master and either VC4 or Shining Resonance Refrain. Anyone played Shining Resonance Refrain and could give me a rundown of its highs and lows?

What a joke.. don't get me wrong, there's a some good deals but so much for Nintendo charging for online and promising deals at a later date except for when people are looking for deals to buy their first party games that's been out for awhile. Nintendo sales remains a joke.

Man, I don't know what to tell you. Yeah, losing free online was a bummer. But Nintendo NOT putting their first party "ever green" titles on sale is nothing new. Everyone should be used to that by now. Maybe in a year or two they'll introduce a "Greatest Hits" line and you'll see Breath of the Wild and Mario Odyssey for $39.99 USD.

Thanks for reminding me that I need to grab Wild Guns!

Celeste is my GOTY so far, so I can easily recommend that even at full price.

If I go into system settings and change my region to buy some of these games can I still play them after I've changed my region back to Europe? Or is it better to create a second account in the switch?

Nope just nope. It was advertised as a selling point they said they would talk about later. They never put their ever green titles on sale before but they also never charge people to play online before so it's not on us the consumer in anyway. They advertised it and they should start coming forward with it.

nope. they advertised "special offers" as part of the service, they never said it would be ps+ style discounts for subscribers. the offers turned out to be (so far) the physical NES controllers that only the subscribers could buy and the splatoon gear code they sent to subscribers. i assume when SNES games come they'll sell a physical controller for those too.
the special offers were never about game discounts, that's just what people assumed.

My list: Shovel Knight, Celeste, Inside and Gorogoa.
damn, that's like four AMAZING games right there. if you play those back to back most other games will seem bad.

Has the Nintendo online provides a serious discount to owners yet? As that was one of the major perks?

It was not. They said "Special Offers" and so far those have been exclusive cosmetics in Splatoon 2 and the NES Switch Controllers. I don't think we're getting discounts.

We have Gold points besides.

Edit: Dammit mazi

Have they specifically said that? Because later today I'll go back and watch the direct where it's mentioned.

Just region jumping is enought. I buy stuff on the mexico shop and switch to the US and still can play the games inthe same account

you can check. they never mentioned game sales. they mentioned "special offers" as part of the package, and then talked about NES controllers as the first offer.

That is fucking stupid and has no value. I am going off of what I saw in the direct just before that joke of a paid online went up.

I'm posting while in a foul mood. I'm going to bow out of the conversation.

Ya I checked for XC2 expansion pass. Nothing.
it sucks. that and octo expansion are the still on my wishlist. i'm still waiting, maybe they put them on sale later (iirc they put splatoon 2 on sale for $40 once), and i have other games to play in the meantime.

you have the right to be mad, the service has offered pretty much nothing so far. i paid like 4$ for it for a whole year so i'm not too disappointed, but those who paid the full 20$ haven't got anything for their money yet.

Pretty annoyed that Worms refuses to go on sale. The regular price seems way too steep for this game.

Well I still want to try Golf's Story, Battle Chef Brigade, Darkest Dungeon and Into the Breach.

I got Skyrim on launch day on my Switch; was my third time buying the game, and this is the version that I finally - finally - ended up sticking with. It runs great, looks absolutely beautiful docked and undocked, and is perfect for 20-minute dungeon runs or for multi-hour marathons. Truly perfect on Switch, and a no-brainer at that price IMO.

Well, I did it. Thanks guys.

Breath of the Wild was on sale last year.
I did expect more of the older Nintendo games to be on sale this time around.

Maybe Christmas...

there any decent VNs in the sale? Haven't played one before but switch seems a good platform for it.

I wouldn't get riled up over video games or a greedy company like that.

I'm disabled and I don't have my medication with me so yeah.. I don't want to offend or come off as hostile. That's why I decided To just stopped. I'm directing my annoyance in the wrong direction.

Darkest Dungeon Ancestral Edition is finally on sale, seems like a decent price if it includes all three of the DLC packs.

Just found that I could get a used copies of Wolfenstein II ($29.69) & Captain Toad ($25.19) from
GameFly.com for under $60, shipped, with my membership 10% discount.

Hell yeah. Now I can use my gold point for other stuff AND save space on memory card. Man, I barely have 30 gigs left in my 200 gb card.

Oh yeah, Lego City. Enjoyed it on the Wii U, and I kind of want an open-world time waster on the Switch. If the loading times aren't too bad.

Funny story: I wasn't going to buy Pokémon Let's Go but I did anyway because the amount of games I had on my cart were actually as expensive as buying Let's Go at full price lol. Maybe next time, The Messenger.

Not as fancy deals on the EU-shop as here... (yet at least)

If nothing shows up in the next few days, i'm gonna cheap out and change region for the first time :P

* Celeste
* Valiant Hearts
* The Messenger
* Gorogoa

Are all games I wanna get.

I'd definately recommend Steamworld games for everyone Dig 2>Heist>Dig also the Lego game is a pretty crazy good deal.

Blaster Master for $5. Is it also on XB1? I wouldn't get to play it for ages so if there's a chance it could go in Game Pass I don't bother (hence not picking up Sonic or Crash).

Would y'all recommend the game?

Edit: seems it is Switch/3DS exclusive. Still interested to hear ERA users' thoughts on the game though!

Thanks as always Captain of Outer Space for your hard work on these threads!

I really enjoyed it, I do have an emotional connection to the original though so I'm not sure if that's what speaking.

But for 5$I cant imagine being dissapointed in that game, classic game vastly improved. Not sure if all the extra content is availible in this purchase but there's a cool bunch of extra characters at least.

I think the there was some complaints about how the game ran in co-op. Dont know if it was patched, however If I remember correctly it was good in Single player.
I know there's a Digital Foundry on the game.. it ran at a higher resolution than the Xbox One version somehow :P
