People we're complaining in the datamined thread about it though, that you had to have a Pokemon 10 levels higher than her best. Weird, I'm glad it's not the case lol I was prepared to use rare candies just to bypass it.
I wish there was a sound that's made when a shiny appears. It kind of sucks just staring at the screen waiting all the time.
Are you actually chaining the pokemon you're getting shinies of? Or are you just chaining a random one and then sitting at a high density spawn?

I chain Caterpie, then go elsewhere and sit whilst I'm doing work
Wait so the pokemon you're chaining doesn't actually matter, the overall chances of a shiny will increase across the board for all species?
I assumed chaining only made the chances increase for whatever particular species you were chaining.
So you're just chaining a common monster and then leaving to get different spawns?
Maybe I should just get the shiny charm before trying to get more shinies. I think I got spoiled by getting 2 shiny Vulpix just by chaining and a lure.
Chaining will at least cause that pokemon to spawn more often.

How do you get berries other than from being found by your Pokes, are they just at shops? I'm planning to do most of my Pokemon hunting post game.
Might be loot from a captured Pokemon or yes, only in flowers/bushes
Apparently, the only "problem" (depends on whether you care or not) I see with this is that your shiny won't have 4 maxed out IVs for sure, or does that carry over as well?
Yup as soon as you get out so south and you'll see a house with the special move tutor. Took me a while to find where
I had a chain of 43 on Caterpie and went exploring up to Pewter/back and forth in Viridian until a shiny Pikachu spawned. It has 4 perfect IVs on it.(at least...I think it does. I'll have to double check to be sure but I'm pretty sure it does)
Also I dont have to be slightly envious of everyone getting shinies. Tried a chain of Caterpie and just sat for a while in Viridian, looking up occasionally to see if there was a shiny. I just beat the E4 and started seeing Charizard and Dragonite spawning as well so I was trying all over for one.
Now to hopefully hunt some more shinies since...yeah this wasn't too bad at all!
Use the Judge option and it'll show you precisely which ones are "Best".

I could be wrong here, but I'm noticing a lot less frame drops in handheld mode. Before on the party exp screen, the fps was pretty choppy, but now it runs smoothly. Also noticing fewer frame dips in Viridian Forest.
Not sure how I feel about being able to swap in Pokémon from my box during the Elite Four. I already kind of feel like it's cheating doing it out in the middle of nowhere, but it makes sense to be able to do so. But during the league? Ehh, feels like it takes away all the planning and tenseness from it.
