Onyx was never in the damn script and she would never have the connections to know.

Valerie knows some of the same people I know. She was in the script and cut (along with Babs).

Damn. 100% Babs will be involved in the future. Wonder if Onyx is being saved for the BoP's own movie, too. Black Mask, BoP, Cass and Harley already has the movie stacked, without potential surprises.

Any more cool things you can drop without spoiling the script/ getting anyone in trouble?

Now I ask, is it a thing that characters/plots/locations were cut from a movie during scripting?

They'll do an initial draft, and sometimes characters get cut before casting. With this it looks like they were in the first script, which the initial casting was going off of, but when Margot got involved they whittled down the cast to remove Babs and Onyx.

Hmm, just thought of something. Since BoP will be coming out before The Batman, Yan is gonna have control over what Gotham looks like. I know we had a little bit of it in BvS and JL, but those were small sections which can easily be avoided. I hope her and Reeves kinda worked out who's taking what area so they don't conflict with one another. I'd be cool to see the same locations in different movies as a reference point.

From the sounds of things, Reeves' Batman is in the past, while BoP is present day. So something like ten to fifteen years, the flavor of the city can change. Just look at Manhattan.

It'll be interesting though to see if Reeves films The Batman in LA as well, which they're doing for BoP due to a HUGE tax break they're getting.

New Gods has potential to be the least conventional modern comic book movie, depending on how she goes about it. There's a lot of texture and nuance to that world. On the other hand, there's the conventional take with Barda and Scott as the good guys going against bad guy Darkseid to stop a doomsday plot. Either way, hoping there's movement sooner than later.

An aside, Fantastic Beasts 2 seems to be doing poorly in the box office and critically, makes it more of a bummer they locked into doing the series which is delaying when Flash can start.

David Yates needs to go. He did well for DH 1 and 2 and Fantastic Beasts 1 but they should get someone new for the next sequels.

lolno. Yates does have a bland style to him but at least they are slightly cinematic whereas Whedon might make the ugliest films in all of Hollywood. man was born to film for network television.
lolyeah. Fuck Yates and his ability to take the magic out of Harry fucking Potter. I'll take Whedon over him any day.

mehh, lesser of two evils in Yates. plus with Whedon's ugly ass movies you have to endure his writing too. good riddance to that mans.

Whedon's writing> Yates's everything. Seriously find nothing redeeming about him. Kick his ass of Harry Potter and never let him direct again. This isn't even mentioning his abomination of a Tarzan film.

Sometimes one forgets that Yates directed six Harry Potter movies, has plans to do two more, and his one break was a Tarzan movie.

man I'll even take his mediocre Tarzan movie over that abomination Age of Ultron or Justice League.

Harry Potter movies are okay, definitely could have been more special if the producers got more ambitious with the director choices and changed it up tho for sure.

I might be alone in this, but does anyone else find the preoccupation some have with Aquaman/Jason Momoa being a "bro" to be corny as fuck? It comes as a bunch of nerds being mad at jocks or some shit like that. Especially when a lot of those same folks are all about that frat boy/jock bro type humor and personality when it comes from like a Seth Mcfarlane or Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool.

Huh. It makes sense when you break it down like that. Aquabro hate never made much sense to me.

They wanna talk that kind of shit but they're too soft to actually fuck people up in real life.

Probably.

If we didn't have Aquabro I feel like the character would have been in serious danger of becoming the DCEU's own version Thor (pre-Ragnarok), a great physical presence but otherwise completely dull and forgettable. Momoa has brought a lot of fun and personality to Aquaman that I think works really well.

Maybe. I just feel like there is this weird resentment of what some would call "bros" despite the fact that the only "broish" thing Momoa has done as Aquaman is that scene of him drinking in Justice League. If woohoo-ing cause he's having fun with his powers is being a bro, then every version of Spider-Man we've gotten is a bro.

It could probably be some weird jealously people have, or just the word "bro" having such a negative connotation.

Not only that, but it absolutely fits with the kind of character they want Arthur to be. I've heard people complain about Arthur not being regal enough. Well, if they're going off of Geoff Johns' Aquaman, then he's not supposed to be. Probably the most prominent thing about Arthur's character in Johns' run and even now post-Rebirth is that he doesn't see himself as a king and doubts if he's cut out for the job. He's a simple lighthouse keeper at heart thrown into something far beyond him.

Momoa's Aquaman takes leans into that because he's the last person you'd expect to be king of anything. In terms of looks, maybe, but not his personality. The "bro-ness" just seems a way of doing that story beat while playing to Momoa's natural personality.

I've been tryna vocalize this for a while now. Thank you!

They either have some weird resentment from high school or tryna go extra hard to be "woke". Or both.

It is pretty weird how it's spun as a negative. It does read like they've a chip on their shoulder.

I've known and been friends with dudes like Jason Momoa. Been saying since he was cast I wanted them to lean into his natural personality rather than Aqua-Khal Drogo/Conan and they've done exactly that.

Was just checking Twitter and man, people seem super down on Aquaman all of a sudden.

It'll be interesting to see what things are like when the social media embargo is up.

So it's not just me. It's honestly been bothering me since the lead up to Justice League.

Kinda funny how we never see complaints about Thorbro.

Imo, traditional Aquaman is the most basic and boring character there is. Only ever about him is the storylines and the people around him. So any drastic change needed.

Sometimes it feels like y'all want to be sad and down about the DCEU. Aquaman is coming. The response so far is largely positive.

And Box Office Pro:
The DC cinematic brand will be tested again with the universe's first chapter since last year's Justice League under-performed. A strong contingent of fans are excited for this character's first big-screen solo adventure, while Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, and the ensemble cast should help translate to fair appeal among both men and women.

Social buzz thus far is comparable to Ant-Man and the Wasp, although a less front-loaded run is likely given the time of year. Reviews and word of mouth, as always, will be key for the comic book adaptation, but Aquaman is effectively looking to serve as the top option for moviegoers interested in an action-driven spectacle around the holiday break.

Early Aquaman Screening Scores Positive Reactions

There were some bad movies. This hurt confidence in the brand. This is not a DCEU only thing; look at how folks are now turning on Bethesda due to Fallout 76. (Or Star Wars.) The world doesn't have it out for us. Good films will turn it around. I've always said, for a very long time... trust James Wan. Shazam could go either way, but I feel solid about it. Trust Jenkins with WW84. And calm down.

It'll be fine. Things will be fine. (Unless the movies aren't good.) I honestly think the biggest problem WB will have will not being able to use Phoenix' Joker in the DCEU. That's probably a good problem to have.

I'm talking about ERA and to an extent old GAF. There was literally no need to pull all that out lol
