In an age where PlayStation classics like Crash, Spyro, and MediEvil have gotten current gen remakes, there is one particular game that I always find myself yearning to see get the same treatment....

220px-Jersey_Devil_PSX.jpg

The game was not a hit like other platformers on PS1, but I still adored this broken gem when I was a kid. The main character and aesthetics of the Halloweenish world were so well done and the soundtrack was great as well. And even though the level design was horribly unbalanced, the gameplay felt so fun and fighting those pumpkin head enemies was a joy to me.

What has me wishing for a remake is the fact that Jersey Devil has so much potential and I do believe one that fixes the original issues would be successful enough to make it worthwhile. I cant be the only one that wants this lol.

Anyone else look back at the Jersey Devil this fondly?

I loved this enough to buy it again a few years ago to play on PS3. Imagine my disappointment that it's actually kind of a mess technically on PS3, so I couldn't really play it.

Would dearly love a remake but I imagine it's one of those where the IP is so confused in dead companies that it's impossible.

My sister got this game after a local Mom and Pop shop recommended it due to it's "revolutionary tutorial level", whatever that means lol.

I don't remember how the game plays at all. I should dig it out.

Thats what has troubled me the most lol. I do remember Sony published it in the US, so I wish they could have some rights to bring it back

Aw man I'd like to play this again. I'm pretty sure the studio followed it up with the EXCELLENT, CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED Bug's Bunny Lost in Time

Lol, I recently bought it in a retro game convention. Played it a bit, graphics are still ok imo but for the rest it's an average platformer for its time.

x 1000000 yes

One of the best platformers of that time

Nope, they're still around making mediocre games. Currently they are being sued by Bethesda for making a knockoff Fallout Shelter.

Had no idea what you were talking about til I saw the cover.

Sure, it was alright. There's certainly much worse ways to spend an afternoon with a PS1.

oh my god, I never thought anyone would else would bring up this game! It is a heavily underrated game that I fondly enjoyed so much. Soundtrack alone is worth it by Gilles Leveille.

Good lord not with those controls. It's on the same level of Blasto. A lot of the mascot PS1 platformers I really wanted to like, but man do most of them control terribly.

If they did go back and remake them and give them proper controls and camera work then yes.

Yeah, I owned this and loved and hated it at the same time. The jumping was so fucking difficult that I wanted to throw my controller through a brick wall. Come to think of it, I believe that the PS1 controller at that time only had digital buttons and didn't have analogue controls.

Anyways, love the world but hated the controls.

Yeah it came out before Dualshock.

i remember the game being kind of dark (not just lighting-wise but in tone) which surprised me. but at the same time it wasn't quite a game for adults either.

I remember renting this as a kid and really enjoyed it. If I remember correctly though, it was full of bugs? I'm sure I remember clipping through scenery on multiple occasions.

Absolutely! I got this game as a BD present (alongside War Games Deafcon 1, lol) and I remember really enjoying the game. Unfortunately, it was a faulty disk and the game would't work past a certain stage.

I would've been really happy if they decided to include this in the PS Classic lineup.

No way... so the company that holds the rights actually still lives?! Thats shocking and gives me hope that Jersey Devil will come back someday

I had the PC version when I was a kid. I remember liking it despite how broken and clunky it felt. Never finished it though, I probably got stuck somewhere and gave up.

Oh man.

Jersey Devil. I never, ever, quite finished this game, but I absolutely loved it as a kid. I remember discovering it on a demo disc, which prompted me to rent the actual game. I adored it. I have really fond memories of the game as a whole.

I never quite finished it, though, but I did make a lot of progress on it. I'd definitely like to revisit it.

But yes, I'd love to see this be brought back to the modern era. I mean, we got MediEvil remake coming out soon, Bubsy somehow came back. So why not Jersey Devil?

Also, please give me more Gex. Square Enix, pls. :<

Honest to god, I'd love to see Blasto remade with proper controls. Loved a lot about it as a kid, but man those controls... Because seriously, Tank controls for a platformer. Why was that even a good idea?

They merged with another company and eventually became Behaviour Interactive. They make a weird variety of games now but I can't see them revisiting Jersey Devil.

Fun fact: They were known as Artificial Mind & Movement Inc.for ten years but changed back to Behaviour Interactive due their abbreviation of A2M sounding too much like it was referring to "ass to mouth".

They should remake BOTH Jersey Devil and LIT!!!

You're god damn right with this. That game is absolutely underrated! Just thinking about it makes me want to play it again. That and Sheep, Dog and Wolf
