I'm having a hard time understanding how you people are getting high chains. I decided tonight to see how high I could chain Eevees and I lost it after about 13, and I had a couple close calls before that where I had to run. I feel like I'd run out of money/balls before I could do anything good.

Throw one pokeball and if it escapes, run. You are like 100% guaranteed to not fail then and eventually build it to 31.

Also FYI, you can build the chain to 31 for any Pokémon and it increases the chance of a Shiny for all pokémon, not just the one you are building the chain for.

How do you chain Pokemon that don't spawn that often? Trying to do it with charmander in rock tunnel, but I've only found 2.

Just keep trying afaik. The more you catch, the more often it spawns.

Can't you just build up a chain using something super easy like Oddish and then go to wherever you want to chain?

Chaining has to be done in portable mode, right? I wouldn't mind a shiny or two, but I can't count on throwing the Joy-Con in docked mode.

Does anyone feel like the Go capture system shoved in Kanto didn't fit too well? It's the part I like the most about the game, but I think I'd like it even more if it had an original region planned around the on-world Pokémon instead of retrofitted GB maps.

There's some parts where it does, there's some parts where it doesn't.

When they do Let's Go Johto, I'd be fine with them largely resizing the routes so that more Pokemon spawn.

Since seeing the Farfetch'd in Cerulean city I really want to have one in my party... never used one ever and the model is so cute. I know it's not "the strongest" but in this game I'm not sure it matters too much, trying to role with Pokémon I haven't really used before.

Route 12, right?

I really liked catching Pokémon in the Go Park, since I never used the app that much, they were never useful to me (I've never entered a jim in Go lol)
Luckily, among the few Pokémon I catched in 2016 there were many useful ones that aren't present in LGP. And now I started using the Go app again.

What are the colors in the Judge function for? I mean those that color the "Speed" or "Attack" texts. I see no correlation to IV, because sometimes it's red with a "good" IV and red with a "Exceptionnal" IV?

It's not just that but also the region itself doesn't lend itself well when it comes to riding and Pokémon following you.

It's based on his team from the manga, is it not? Same with Blue and Green

No it's not they all have different team in the manga than in the game.

You know, it is funny how Red/Blue/Green all have the wrong starter Pokemon for their namesake.

Actually Green has the right starter as her name in Japan is Blue. It's just Red and Green that have different starters. Honestly though after reading Pokémon Adventure, Bulbasaur suits Red better whereas Charmander suited Blue better.

This is exactly how I feel in regards to wild pokemon. They're still wild you just see them and the surprise its still there. The zubats you met in yellow years ago are still there you can just see them to avoid the trouble.

Secondly, I just wish we could battle the pokemon to lower health in order to catch them. The RNG with catching is not for the faint of heart.

The other thing that is impressive with Pokémon in the overworld is how much realistic size scale actually becomes a gameplay feature. Avoiding or chasing down a Fearow or an Onyx is a different affair than avoiding or chasing down an Oddish. It's amazing.

I'm dying to evolve my Onyx and Chansey and hate that I'm stuck with 151 here. Can't wait for Gen 8.

I also want to praise the battle camera programming here. It's really impressive how the perspective consistently adjusts to frame the trainer plus each Pokémon in the same sectors of the camera no matter what the size. It appropriately zooms out for Onyx and zooms back in when I throw in a tiny Pokémon. It even scales the direction of attacks. If Squirtle scalds an Onyx, the water stream will point up to his face. They put a lot of work into it since Sun and Moon. They need to just add to it with Gen 8.

So I just got to the GO Park in Fuchsia and I love it :D Just transferred the mass of gen 1 stuff I was hording on my Go account and freed up 500 slots! Caught my decided-on Alolan team and now have a lot of levelling up to do to get them to the 35-45 range the last team was in.

I actually think they just didn't go far enough with it. There should be more types of balls and more ways to manipulate the catch rate. When I'm using ultra balls, getting excellent shots and using Gold Razz Berries, it feels futile when they burst out immediately. I've done everything I can to help my odds and the system is still gimping me.

I think the cell based map design does feel like a bad fit on Switch. I'd like to see Kanto get reimagined with less right angles and boxey looking layouts.

Bought the game yesterday, having a good time with it EXCEPT for the catching mechanic, and it's beginning to taint severely the rest of my experience.
The motion controls are a mess beyond words.
Yesterday it was globally fine, and since I was just discovering it I could excuse most errors, but today... 3 out of 4 attempts out of bounds, the ball going sharply to the very left of the screen despite my perfectly vertical motion..... Infuriating to waste 400$ or more on each trivial catches.
Is there a way to recalibrate or add more precision to the joycon ?

Oh no. Watched an Easy Allies stream and the Nostalgia is getting to me.
Saw someone selling a code for $40 on the BST thread and I'd totally be in for that.

I am sorry if this has been asked a million times, but how exactly do you tell if a pokemon has perfect stats? I have played pretty much all the pokemon games, but never really interacted with the perfect IV's or any of that stuff.

I've never played a Pokemon game before. And I'm not interested in online. Never played Pokemon Go either.

Should I give it a try? I love RPG games and Nintendo/Pokemon.

Kind of pissed that in LGP
your rival's Eevee can evolve, seems a bit unfair (not in a difficult way just, you know...) also, my rival's eevee evolved into a Jolteon - is this random or does it depend on something? Like for e.g. right now I have nothing in my party week to electricity so seems an odd choice.

It's fixed IIRC.
But they do have a regular Eevee/Pikachu rather than the buffed mascot one.
