But it did poorly everywhere else we're aware of. And I'm guessing it'll have no legs at all. So it still won't be a great result.

I'm guessing your guess is baseless. Furthermore JP is irrelevant to SC's total sales.
EU is the only question mark but with those NPD sales, NB should be happy.

Mat's predictions back in June compared to current best selling games (with 2 months to go). Though it doesn't look like he initially figured in older games like WWII and GTAV.

Spider-Man doing better than expected. Fallout 76 and Battlefield V remain to be seen.

Mario Kart will be tough, since it's not in the top-10 yet, unless the holidays really help sell it (reminder, it already had holiday 2017 to sell).

Smash should make it though.

Mario Kart was there last month, it dropped from the chart in october because of BO4, but in nov-dec will sell like crazy as usual.

I updated these again earlier this month. Will still be wrong, heh. Only thing one knows about a video game prediction is that it's probably wrong.

Regarding SoulCalibur...
Since it debuted behind IV and II:

Soul Calibur IV (combined debut) - 374.7k
Soul Calibur IV (Xbox 360) - 218.9k
Soul Calibur IV (PlayStation 3) - 155.8k

Soul Calibur II (combined debut) - 421.6k
Soul Calibur II (Gamecube) - 179.6k
Soul Calibur II (Xbox) - 122.0k
Soul Calibur II (PlayStation 2) - 120.1k

But since now it on revenue, IV did around $18.7 million and II around $21.0 million.

So, under 300k debut, using $18 million as revenue.

Idk I think the SCVI result is solid.

It's not like its mind blowing or anything but it's an improvement on V and the budget was clearly pretty damn tiny by modern standards. You can tell when playing it.

If it even has ok legs by fighting game standards it should be a performance they are happy with

As a proud multiconsoles owner, it makes me happy to see such success to all three. Healthy competition will ensure that this great hobby our ours will continue to thrive well into the future.

I feel like PlayStation Plus should cover more than just games. They are so fragmented at least within Sony's own services .
Yeah, talking about execution I'd agree there's a lot of potential they haven't realized. I was just responding to your initial statement saying they don't even understand that there's opportunity there--that seems quite wrong to me. Rather, I believe a lack of cohesion between Pictures, Music, and PlayStation is a more important factor. Mobile games being made under multiple Sony business unit umbrellas is indicative of corporate scattering.

Given how well received that Digital Foundy RDR2 comparison was received here, you'd be forgiven for thinking it'd help the XBOX take this month. I'm guessing that the official marketing deal carries way more clout with the broader gaming audience.

The 1X is a niche market and the base Xbox one is the worst experience every time for multiplats.

One thing to note that Starlink has charted absolutely nowhere except on the Switch charts.
That game was destined to bomb until Nintendo made the deal for the Starfox stuff (and yes it was Nintendo that approached them).
It was a cool concept and game but toys to life is finished for good. Amiibo is successful because people like collecting the figures period without even caring about the functionality

I actually hope Sony delays the PS5 now. The industry being this healthy can only be a good thing for everyone and I feel like resetting the generation will just make everyone scramble again. They really have no reason to restart it and it seems like MS and Nintendo are also pretty happy at the current status quo.

They already have delayed from 2019 to 2020 .that's why they skipped PSX and e3 2019 to do a reveal of Ps 5 in PSX 2019 (25th anniversary of PlayStation)and release 2020.first target was November 2019 and that has been delayed

It seems the main driving force of all these October records is because of two things:

-Red Dead Redemption 2 (an outlier)
-Call of Duty BOIIII (moved from the typical Nov to Oct)

I would actually be surprised if October didn't break all these records. Two enormous releases now taking place in October when they normally don't.
Hopefully the success of both, as well as the release of Battlefield V can prevent a big drop for the Industry in November.

I told others in the Media Create threads that SoulCalibur 6 will do well, and it did. Happy to see it doing good in the USA.

So funny that Nintendo consoles never got another real SC game after the way it performed on GameCube...lol.

That's not how this works. The new generation will take time to build a user base and start generating big revenue. If they wait until the consoles start declining, they'll be in a position where they're waiting for the new consoles to pick up the slack from declines from this gen.

Without a doubt, this gen has some life left - but it's important to keep momentum going.

I don't think Smash has enough time to beat any of the ones here. In only one month it's not gonna outsell Spidey and MHW was on all platforms and sold well in all of them.
While it is looking like it'll do extremely well (even I preordered it), it's just not enough time to break into the Top 10

I really can't believe My Hero One's Justice sold so well on Switch, better than DBFZ, Splatoon 2, Skyrim, and Fifa?

I mean really? This is the first time there's been a game I had never heard of in the top 10.

Thats right? Xbox hasn't claimed the top NPD spot in over 2 YEARS?

I had no idea it had been that long.

It's heartwarming to see SoulCalibur VI doing this good in the US. Judging by the PlayStation Store rankings around the world it's infortunately not the same picture in Europe, gotta thanks the US gamers if the series lives to see another day.

I actually expected better legs for Spider-Man in October. Sure the game is going to be massive in November with the 199$ PS4 but the NPD doesn't count bundles so that will not reflect anywhere.
