Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a perfect game to play coop with your kids, you can play up to 4 people controlling the same ship and it's a lot of fun. I played with my 6 year old daughter from start to finish a coule of times already.
I play with my girlfriend, nice coop. Unfortunately she is not as good as your daughter... or maybe I'm not as good as you.

Japan
My daughter is 9 and she loves Puyo Puyo Tetris. And if the retro aesthetic is not a deal-breaker get Disney Afternoon collection and play co-op Chip and Dale. It's great fun.

Give your children some great childhood memories and get them the Spyro Reignited Trilogy.

Dark Souls III is a safe bet

But more seriously Rayman Legends, Ultimate Chicken Horse, maybe Nidhogg 2 which is incredibly fun but has cartoon gore

Some suggestions that haven't been mentioned much in this thread so far:

Tembo the Badass Elephant
Yooka Laylee
Snake Pass
A Boy and His Blob
Unravel
Shovel Knight
Octodad: Dadliest Catch
Joe Danger / Joe Danger 2

My son and I found the Lego games unforgivably boring and frustrating in equal parts. Would not recommend.

He did love:

Dragon Quest Builders and Transformers: Devastation.

I will never stop recommending this game, as it has a TON of couch co-op kid/newbie gamer content:

Star Wars Battlefront (2015)

You can regularly get it for $5 for the digital ultimate edition, which has all the extra heroes to play with. Even youngsters will know who to shoot as it's Star Wars, can be played third or first person, and the bot mode for Walker Assault is a 20 minute "holy shit I'm in the movie" experience that you can play co-op or versus, in split screen, getting to play as heroes or in all the vehicles.

It's legit the greatest couch co-op intro to gaming title you can get, and I will never uninstall this game.

Without wanting to sound like I'm perpetuating a meme: Knack 2. You can skip the first one as it's not that great really, the sequel is genuinely a solid platformer.

All jokes aside, apparently Knack is great for kids. Second one has co-op too, so you could play along.

Good calls. Knack 2 and Rayman Legends are seriously good.

Left field choice, but the Megadrive Collection on PS4 has been fun with my 10 year old daughter 2 playering ToeJam and Earl amongst others ...

It's pulled her off Minecraft at least

Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy is a PS4 version of a PS2 game but it still holds up really well and is a ton of fun to play.

One person mentioned Unravel and I would second that. It's a really cute game and while I haven't gotten to the sequel yet it looks to be just as charming as the first. Some of the puzzles may be a bit hard for little kids though.

I forgot that A Boy And His Blob was on PS4. Really good game, and the art style is amazing.

Lots of good games on the Sega Genesis / Megadrive Collection. Really good way to get tons of games to choose from.
