Wired controllers will always have an advantage over wireless ones in competitive settings because of latency issues.
I don't like the button layout. It can be fine but I don't have to like something that other people think is fine.Pro is fine for smash.
from someone who smash has been my most played game literally every year since 1999. (and it probably isn't close)
Never understood the outlandish takes around that subject. both work. Plus wires....
I think it's one of the best controllers ever designed with ergonomics in mind. Too bad it's let down by the ridiculously small D-Pad and the C-Stick's weird mold.
dang that's why I didn't winWired controllers will always have an advantage over wireless ones in competitive settings because of latency issues.
I've always used the GameCube controller in the past, but I plan to put a sincere effort into learning the Pro Controller. Specifically, I've seen people mention that mapping jump to L is a better control method than using a face button to jump (Bumper Jumper!), and the GameCube's triggers aren't as good for that as a normal controller. I'm looking forward to trying it out.
I got the Pro Controller bundle....but will probably still use my Wavebird.
double a batteries? ew no way I'm going back to the wii era of AA batteries. I did buy those enloop batteries, but the battery cut in half like a year after.I'm glad this thread was posted because I didn't know where else to ask a question like this, but...
I'm thinking of picking up the PowerA Wireless GameCube Controller.
It's wireless and runs on two AA batteries, has gyro aiming, but doesn't have rumble (no big deal) or NFC. My question is, if I want to scan an amiibo, can I just turn on one of my Joycon and use that? Or am I just screwed out of using amiibo in games that support them?
You don't use the d-pad for anything but taunts, so I don't see why the d-pad quality really matters for Smash. If my Pro controller's Dpad wasn't such dogshit I'd name that easy. It's the second best controller this gen. But with the Dpad being a mushy mess with imprecise controls, I think I'll stick with the horrible GC controllers and ignore that outside of the face buttons and Dpad they're the worst thing ever.
They've yet to comment if it supports rumble, that's a dealbreaker for me for GCN pads.I have my old Gamecube controllers, including 1 Wavebird. So I likely will spring for the GC adapter.
I am wondering about this 8bitdo Gbros. adapter instead though... http://www.8bitdo.com/gbros/
