Yeah, and the fact that the discussion in OT is expansive enough to draw people to a predominantly video gaming forum even though they aren't into video games I would say is a good thing.
I originally joined NeoGaf for video games. I joined/moved to Resetera for the community and off-topic.
The irony of being on a video-game forum and preferring to discuss off topic stuff is not lost on us.

I play games here and there but I pretty much never go to the gaming side. OT is a pretty good place to get news
I spend the majority of my time on OT.
I also find that the Gaming side has alot more toxic and regressive opinions than the OT. Just look at the thread about the Youtuber who inflicts violence on a feminist character in Red Dead 2. People were actually defending him.

Also, OT side is way more laid back than gaming side. Sometimes I can't handle or the negative toxicity that goes on over there. A thing that happens to me frequently is that, I finish a game that I really end up loving only to go over to the gaming side and just get bummed out by the negative opinions about the game I just played, really takes away the desire to talk about it.
