so glad that this is bombing tbh. should send a nice clear message to Bethesda that this shit isn't what fallout fans want from the series...assuming of course it doesn't sell a billion copies regardless of the shit reviews. lol

It's not even that the game has gone in a different direction from the rest of the series. Of course many people are disappointed that it's not another single player RPG, but if this game was competently made it would be fine. The problem is that it's garbage. It's buggy, it's unrefined, and it's just plain boring. It's a cynical cash grab - they're charging full price for an unfinished game, AND there's a cash shop.

Oh boy, imagine being worried about if the single player franchise are sustainable, go after the gaas model, and get this as result...

Surely Fallout 56 becomes a meme.
It's still based on 4 reviews Metacritic. Opencritic has 6 reviews and it's 54 over there. It'll go even way lower than 56.

AAA games would generally get 50-100 reviews.

Ask and you shall receive (quick and dirty edit).

I find this fascinating how different this is to my own experience. Which platform are you playing on? On OG PS4 my framerate frequently dips into the low 20s, it often takes 3-5 seconds to load the map, there's tons of environmental pop-in and it's probably one of the worst-optimised games I've played on the PS4.

I also thought the graphics were shit and only playing in HDR made it look even halfway passable.

I was playing on 1X, and while there some dips and hitching, I suppose I have it a bit more leeway because it was online and I was expecting it to run even worse with all the talk b4 the beta.
The performance issues did not break the experience.
GTA online has about the same performance issues.

To be expected. Feels like a massive stopgap until they talk about Fallout 5 for next Gen.

didn't Fallout 4 also suffer from frame rate problems on PS4?

The bases being removed when you log out and someone else building on your land is madness.

Couple that with instances of logging in and being in the middle of a group of enemies or logging into a nuclear blast zone and it's always an interesting roll of the dice. I've had the pleasure of logging out inside a building. Logging in and being in a blast zone and my camp being gone all at the same time.

I've been having fun playing with friends, but man the bugs and glitches and just the simply not thought out stuff is starting to get to me. I think the review scores are totally justified. This is not a product that's currently worthy of $60.

Game feels like it is at least 6 months of really hard work to get to a point of maybe delivering what it currently offers in a way that is functional. Then it is at least a year of work from being a game that has content and mechanics that would make it good for an extended amount of playing.

I've never felt ripped off by a game as bad as I have from this one, and I only rented it for $3. Tried to play it about 15 times during three different time windows Sat/Sun and literally lost server connection within 5 minutes every attempt.

Im actually somewhat glad this happen, it will be harder for Bethesda to get away with mediocre games, and Bethesda has more than enough money that the studio should still be safe and try to make a better game next time instead of massive layoffs and closing.

We live in a timeline where ubisoft makes better rpgs than Bethesda.

Sinceresly I dont undertand why Ubi gets so much hate in this forum.

They released MarioxRabbids, AC Origins and Odyssey recently and all 3 are fantastic games.

People need to see the amazing updates they are adding to Odyssey, they are making a great game even better (and for all those overblown microtransactions guys that clearly never touched the game, you can even add now how much exp you get per activities).

Can't wait for the "Fallout 76 Accolades" trailer. Gg Bethesda. Now go back to making what everyone loves (and hates), broken-ass singleplayer RPGs with good world-building.

do you want to give me a copy so we can enjoy Todd's gift for humanity together?

I'm not sure that would be the best idea, if we add another person to our party there might be an overload of FUN and HYPE and I'm not sure the servers will be able to handle it, they might come crashing down.

I'm out of this thread now, too many haters and all of this negativity is dampening my enjoyment of the game.

Hopefully this is a wake up call to Bethesda and their two upcoming big games will benefit from it. Also, I think heads will roll this time, even my partner - knows nothing about videogame at all - was talking about the funny Fallout 76 videos full of hilarious bugs dominating Reddit.

Destiny 1 and 2 got a lot of criticism BUT AT LEAST the gameplay made people stick around. They strip this game from NPCs which makes a Fallout game enjoyable and leave us with the terrible, awful gameplay.

The Rick and Morty stream must be one of the most boring streams that I had ever seen. When even your paid shills don't look excited playing your game there is a huge problem

I just never really understood the notion of "it's more fun with friends", I mean wouldn't everything be more fun with friends?
I'm almost positive that passing Kidney Stones would be more fun with friends, but that doesn't mean passing them was fun to begin with.

I'm glad Bethesda and more specifically one of their "flagship" titles is finally being reviewed in a seemingly more accurate way instead of getting a pass all whilst having bugs, glitches, ugly environments and clunky UI passed off as "Bethesda Jank" and receiving an 85+ anyway.

I'm still really liking it. Haven't experienced any game breaking bugs, game definitely has plenty of flaws but really the core gameplay loop is good enough to make up for it personally.

I'm liking it way more than Fallout 4, which deserved the reaction 76 is getting imo.

.

Pretty much. I believe even Yahtzee, back in the day, said something along the lines of "dying of cancer is more fun with friends, doesn't mean I'd recommend it".

I wish reviewers and developers all finally agree that they didn't develop our friends. So, us having fun with our friends is a positive quality of our friends not your game.
