YongYea & Jason Schreier to discuss Games Industry

Last video I saw of his he claimed Sarkesian "exploited feminism throgut toxicity for her own gains".

I really wish that Jason didn't dignify Yong by appearing alongside him. Yong spreads misinformation, uses clickbait titles, uses extreme exaggeration and doesn't demonstrate any real knowledge of game development or the industry but claims to and gets people to buy his garbage because he speaks confidently. Jason on the other hand does research, conducts interviews, has legitimate sources, etc.
I'll give it a listen Jason is very knowledgeable and I enjoy his work as a journalist. Yong I don't watch much of his stuff but I did enjoy all his MGSV trailer breakdowns and his Death Stranding breakdowns.
The comments make it very clear that YongYea has courted a large contingent of antisemites and alt-right shitbags, which is a shame (and not totally shocking), but I think that people will enjoy the conversation. Yong seemed to keep an open mind and by the end of our chat I think he was a bit more aware of the harmful effects of outrage culture.
The fact that it's on his channel is a no-go. Not giving him views.
Holy fudge... I don't like Anita's content and i think it's not very much the quality or content i want, but i would ever said se cynically capitalised on feminism. Ironically, it were the one who attacked Anita who capitalised cynically on feminism (by bashing it). They made Anita fampus because before the scandals and attacks nobody knew about her, and videos attacking her became more popular than her own content. This image is from May.
For clarity, i dislike all attack on Anita, i don't find interesting her content, y don't condone the harassment she got, and i would'nt call her an exploiter of feminism because she does videos on things the believes to try to make things better, but the ones who attack deserve those words from YongYea.
Well, he could start by deleting videos solely made on bashing companies and people from the industry. He could stop making three videos a day bashing on thhe same topics of lootboxes purposely made because they're easy and make visits. I was suscribed to him and became a pain in the butt to follow his content. He doesn't seem like a legit asshole IRL but the character of YongYea is just a few centimeters away from things like... OneAngryGamer and Ian Miles which represent the worst of the worst of harassment and politic shoehorning shielded in the "I'M PRO CONSUMER" mantra.
I know the "delete harmful videos" is something hard to do but i've known some youtubers thatd elete old videos because they don't want to profit from the messages and possible harm they make out of them.

I stopped watching Yong's videos when he started covering the Riot developer's firing a few months back because I sensed a worrying shift in tone, but it's pretty crazy how fast a toxic community gathered around him.
Up until that point he was honestly a pretty harmless Youtuber with a particular interest in Kojima games and defending consumers, unless I missed something.

That is also when I stopped watching his content. Sadly I cant see him ever going back to before fostering the toxic community. They are the ones who provide for him on Patreon after all.

I was surprised at the conclusion of the racist term of 'Yellow' rather than the actual term of Yellow Journalism.
I've never heard this term before, I was wondering if there was another meaning or something.
I like Jason's work but I've blocked yongyea bc his videos always seem to be about negativity
I do feel the discussion that you and he did is really helpful. I feel a big part of this is lack of discussion from a bunch of areas.
I haven't watched the video yet. However, knowing what he (and his ilk are) like he just trying to seem what he considers professional. And by the next video he'll revert to type.
I feel it was a big mistake to have a discussion with me. Because by doing so, you (to a degree) legitimised him.
Hope i didn't come across as an arse with that last line. But i feel very strongly about this stuff.

who is this yongyea guy? hes a youtuber? what is is MO? when did he start developing this toxic fanbase? does it feel like hes been actively cultivating it?
Not to put you on the spot or anything but I am curious why you wanted to have a dialogue with YongYea given the general toxicity of his viewerbase? Do you think Yong is just ignorant of that situation?

Okay, granted, he didn't like say some good came from the Holocaust like Boogie, but give him a few years. The dude is basically TB's "consumer rights" stuff + Boogie's Both Sides "neutralism" plus his obvious pandering to his audience. Just look at the dude's channel. Gone from talking about stuff he likes to nonstop Evil Publisher bullshit because it clearly gets him more of an audience.
