Bought on steam. Downloading now and looking forward to playing this again. From the previous sunset overdrive thread, thank you for those who pointed out that I can change the skin on steam. pixelvision 2 skin looks great.

It's a pretty rough port. I first played it on Xbox One when it released back in 2014 and back then I knew it could be something special on PC with keyboard and mouse controls. And trying it now with those controls, even with the way it is currently, it feels part way there. If they do fix the mouse sensitivity and the frame hitching (and that weird texture flickering or whatever it is that sometimes occurs) then it could be great. Shame it had to release in this state.

I generally concur with this statement too, the design team spent so long on the controller controls. The game is built around a gamepad
Read reply after mine

Any game with shooting and high mobility is better with a mouse, unless the mouse input is broken like it is in this game or you're totally not used to mkb. It doesn't matter how much time was spent tweaking the controls to fit a gamepad. That actually doesn't surprise me because it seems very hard to make it work properly and be fun.

Destiny 2 was made for gamepads, yet it's way more fun with mkb. The same goes for Titanfall.

A dev states better with game pad and u disagree. Unbelievable

Don't play this with mkb. Meant for a game pad
People say that a lot about this or that game but then it turns out said games play fine with keyboard and mouse when the controls are implemented competently. I don't think Sunset Overdrive is any different since, from my time with the game thus far, the only control issue here is that the camera sensitivity is wonky making aiming more difficult than it should be or like it is in other games.

Yeah, the game pretty much requires a controller in order to play nicely. Surely there will be a fix in the future though.

No disrespect to jstevenson intended but a developer's word isn't necessarily gospel; there are plenty of third-person action games like this that work perfectly with keyboard and mouse that disprove the idea that it must play best with gamepad. And again, the only thing wrong with the controls here is the mouse sensitivity.

This game would look absolutely awesome with TAA. I feel that the SMAA X2 setting definitely does something, but still misses a ton of edges and isn't that great. SMAA doesn't work well either.

Game still looks and performs awesome though, especially at 4K!

So long as you know better than the devs!

Do you know how many times I've had to change/mod a game to make it more fun or have it look better? Devs aren't always right.

The fact that you think they are is more unbelievable to me. You never mod a game, right?

Whah their, buddy! That's a take I absolutely disagree with - m+kb imo take away what makes Destiny 2's shooting and movement special and impactful.
Shooting is fine on a mkb. The shooting argument is something I've heard for every shooter when it comes to controller vs mkb. The movement is the reason why I think it's a lot more fun on PC. It's so much smoother and natural with a mouse. There's a lot more you can pull off.

Impacful just sounds like a euphemism for annoying. Whisper quest on a controller seems like hell. I never raided with a controller but some of the stuff you have to do seems horrible too.

I know when there's something not working right with mouse input, yes. And again, from other examples where the mouse input is working right.

You say it like the game isn't out on PC and people are just making assumptions. Im currently playing it with kb+m and other than the mouse aiming the game controls fine
Exactly. It's just that one issue away from playing fine on keyboard and mouse.

I'm just saying the entire game was designed around controller input.

MK/B has an issue that MSFT/Blind Squirrel are fixing right now which hopefully will make it better.

But in terms of the actual creation of the game, world, traversal, design, it was all done on controller. If you like MK/B better, cool!

it had to be right, it was originally console only.

It was designed with controllers, but oh god would it be better if the mouse worked proper. Aiming with an analog stick while you're constantly moving is so fiddly.

SO would probably feel better and more natural with M+K compared to controller only if it was done the right way.

Looks like a refund is coming as I can't get it to run. Added the app to the exception list in Bit Defender, added the steamapps common folder to the execption list. Nothing.

EDIT: got it working. had to disable advance threat defense in bitdefender.

So... No MP at all in the PC release ? Do we know why they got rid of it if so ?

Also, how good is this compared to the console version ?

Does this game runs on a i5 2500k? I usually ignore minimum requirements since they tend to be more recomendations than anything, but this game seems to be quite picky.

Just played abit and i have some crazy flicker on buildings. i went into main menu and into the game again and it was gone but cam back 30 minutes later. Game also way too jaggy for me even with SMAA 2X ..especially in the background..yikes.

I got to say i dont like the gameplay too much cause you are forced to grind and jump the whole time which just ist fun to me. I was hoping i would enjoy it but im not feeling this game at all.
Played with DS4 pad.

Asator i played it on a 2500k at 4GHZ without issues. i got some framedrops during cutscenes for some reason but thats about it.

I've noticed that Steam goes into big picture mode when I launch SO. This game's fullscreen mode certainly is something weird...

looks great but I would recommend using a controller. IMO, keyboard & mouse controls are a bit cumbersome.

Haven't had a game that made me laugh for a long time. Highly recommended.

The aim assist in this game (which you couldn't disable on Xboner) is a giant second crosshair that automatically locks on to nearby enemies and literally homes in shots for you even with precision based weapons lol. This game isn't Doom 2016 or Wolfenstein, the shooting is secondary to switching up your movement to keep the combo going like a Devil May Cry title.

They should include a controller rumble strength slider in the options. The weapons that activate the rumble when you fire/charge them are really annoying on my Xbox One controller, but I don't want to disable rumble completely.

Multiple people have the stuttering issues including me so I doubt it's your SSD drive. I think it's just has real poor framepacing just like it did in the Xbox version.

I disabled Vsync and only went for the 60fps cap in-game and it seems to be better than before but still not perfect.

I transfered it to the normal drive, and it might just be placebo or maybe I traversed far enough to go into a different area where it happens less often...but I feel like it isn't as bad as before. I dunno. At least I can enjoy it now and not worry too much.

Another "benefit" of having it on a normal drive is the transitions and loading screens seem timed better, I can actually read the messages now. I think I'll leave it here.

I'm also having a lot of fun just running moving about and reading signs etc, love it.

I'm playing with keyboard and mouse, haven't tried a gamepad yet. Only thing I did was switch the melee and the changing grind directions to mouse buttons.

For me, what makes this game great is that is superfun just to wander around killing enemies, trying to do so in a stylish way. Thanks for bringing this game to PC.

They are working on it I think. Someone mentioned that simple hex editor fix is not possible it's more complicated than that.

Also, with little bit of ReShade the colors really pop out nicely. Only thing what it needs is better anti-aliasing support but downsampling works too I guess.

Game is fun.
If you have to explain "cringe" to someone, use this game as the perfect example...humor and characters are painfully horrible.

Running this on a GTX970 + I7. 60fps @1080p no probs. Had some huge framedips (1 sec freezes)tho during the mission when the Spawners appear for the first time.

I like the humour and the characters. The game isn't afraid to be goofy and good-natured, and the whole thing has an anything goes, not-taking-itself-too-seriously vibe to it.

I can't help but imagine anyone cringing at Sunset as just being super uptight about what is and isn't cool.

brazil, unfortunately
The game is very fun! I've been playing for 4 almost six hours and I'm finding it so good that I almost didn't even touch Pokemon today. I have a 1080 with an i7 7700 k and I've been playing it at 1080p 60 frames per second Locked.
