Uncharted 4.

Every shootout feels unique and interesting, because how cinematic it plays out it makes your character look like a badass and the scenes straight out of a Hollywood movie. Your cover is getting shot to hell and you hear bullets whizzing, the sound of the bullet impacts on the interiors, or you're executing a person and shooting him in the head and they hat flies off. I have not liked combat this much in a TPS since UC4, sometimes I just take it all in before shooting shit up lol, one thing UC4 game does better however is with flanking enemies and them throwing grenades to get you out of your cover, haven't seen bad guys throw dynamites at me yet in RDR2. I get why people don't like the controls, but then again not every game is supposed to feel like Super Mario, people also whined about the weighty controls of Killzone 2 back then, it was completely fine and unique, but GG caved and screwed up the controls and made them more CoD friendly in the sequels.

Anyway here some amazing cinematic gloriousness of RDR2 combat

I don't really agree - I think the shooting in the game is very poor and made extremely repetitive by the auto lock on. It almost plays itself, which to me feels like a concession by the designers -- like an admission that the rest of the controls are so bad and so sluggish and so imprecise and so broken that they have to let you just skip all of the control and aim for you.

..But I'm glad you enjoyed it

Audiovisually satisfying but the aiming makes me want to smash the controller through the TV.

It's not even better then Max Payne 3 shooting which is another Rockstar game, unlike MP3 which still had solid shooting outside of bullet time.

I really enjoyed shooting shotguns in RDR2, however I felt like revolvers lacked a punch a bit. When it comes to R* games MP3 is still king.

But then again, compare it for example to this shit: https://youtu.be/Mz9hF4P8aGM?t=5m25s (worst shotgun in a video game ever?) and it's a masterpiece.

Don't agree at all. The sound is great but that's all.
Max Payne 3 is better, which is another Rockstar Game.

Man, there are aspects of the shooting which are top tier. The way it's animated, the sound design. Otherwise, this is a hard disagree from me.

Shooting doesn't feel satisfying at all because of the terrible mechanics, terrible encounter design, you basically have to rely on dead eye if you want to make the shooting satisfying. The game really fails as a third person shooter.

Chapter 5 is a testament to how shitty the game feels as a shooter.

The shooting is so difficult. I've adjusted the controls but it is still so awkward to aim. They really fucked it up and i don't see how you can compare it to uncharted 4

...what
There are many things to praise RDR2 for. The shooting is not one of them.

Same goes for Uncharted 4. Dogshit gunplay.

I soooo disagree. Shooting is still not very good in the game. As always with GTA and RDR, I struggle with their shooting mechanics. Always seems off.

The game is still a wonderful experience: absolutly fantastic.... but I don't understand how anoyone could praise the shooting in it.

To me, the shooting itself is below average.

Everything around the shooting is amazing like you've said but the actual shooting control wise is horrible. I reckon it's the greatest game I've ever played but the shooting mechanics are by far the worst part.

I honestly don't know how Rockstar messed up so hard in that department, it's even worse than GTA V's.

I haven't played RDR2, but Uncharted 4's shooting was decidedly lacklustre.

It's like saying it has the best graphics since League of Legends.

I mean...no??

I'm playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider as we speak, and even that has much sharper and more responsive shooting mechanics

RDR 2's gunplay was almost unbearable for me at certain points, and i don't complain that much about it in games.

It might be worse than GTA IV. I genuinely don't get how that's possible.

It's not that great actually. But maybe that was OP's intention, because UC4 shooting isn't known to be great either?

Probably the most satisfying shooting in any game ever. God damn does everything pack a mean punch.

RDR 2 has the worst shooting mechanics since GTA V. Rockstar just doesn't get how to make aiming with analogue sticks feel good. I recently took a break from RDR to play that free copy of Destiny 2, and goddamn it felt like I'd crawled out from under mountain of molasses and could finally move like a human being again.

I disagree, shooting in UC4 is terrible.

Gonna start RDR2 soon, just finished the first one.

To people complaining about auto aim on 2,cant you disable like you can on the first? It made the game so much better with that off.

I love the shooting in this game, it feels great. RDR2 is simply an incredible game on all levels.

I wouldn't compared it to Uncharted 4, I really don't think the combat in that game was particularly good or noteworthy. Not bad, just not special at all.

You can disable auto-aim, but good luck with that.

It makes it even worse, especially on horse

Can't agree with OP. The shooting is sluggish and make running from cover to cover such a chore. I rather just stay in place and pop and shoot. I can't believe I'm saying this. I'm too lazy to play the game? Lol.

Yes. I said the auto aim is the only way to play it because the controls are so bad it's miserably impractical without it.

The controls are in my opinion *horrifically* bad. Playing Horizon ZD afterwards was like being reminded that good things exist in the world

Good luck with hitting anything but air. Even after tweaking the controls, it's bad, better, but still bad. Or wait till the bad guys are not moving then you can hit them, when they are running around or on horse, good luck.

UC4 is bad? Wait till you play RDR2.
Never had trouble with any high profile shooters, RE4, UC series, MGS series, COD series, BF series, TR Reboot etc., but RDR2? It's so bad. The game also has crazy lag, that doesn't help either.

It's perhaps not the most mechanically brilliant shooting but there's something extremely satisfying about going into dead eye and picking off a bunch of onrushing enemies. Sometimes I wish there wasn't so many enemies though. For a game that attempts realism in lots of ways the shootouts often become cartoony with the amount of dead bodies left behind.

I think both UC4 and RDR2 have bottom tier gunplay so we must value completely different things.

It looks good and sounds that I agree.

However when it comes to gameplay it is nowhere near good. I was very disappointed at how many reporters kept mentioning Max Payne when it is nowhere near that game.

It was especially disappointing because the series started out as a shooter so to see this and Redemption have shooting that isn't on the level of a shooting only game is a dissapointment.

Really enjoy the shooting in RDR2; first person perspective and standard FPS controls with deadzone minimum and acceleration maximum (default sensitivity).

The encounters and environments do make for some really fun gameplay.
