Fate/Grand Order made over 9 billion yen (approx. US$80 million) in September according to sales prediction data posted by Game-i. The site tracks sales for video games and social game apps.

The amount of money a social game makes per month fluctuates due to the popularity of the events and promotions held in the game, as well as other factors. Fate/Grand Order made 6.4 billion yen (US$56.7 million) in October, but consistently makes around 9 billion yen (US$79.8 million) or more per month. On January, February, June, and July this year, the service made over 10 billion yen (US$88.7 million).

The realization of just how much money Fate/Grand Order generates has been causing a stir on Twitter, as users compare its figures to the other games they play. Fate/Grand Order appears to be doing even better than Pokémon GO and Granblue Fantasy, which made estimated earnings of 3.7 billion (US$32.8 million) and 3.4 billion (US$30.2 million) respectively in October, although it's still behind Monster Strike, which made 14 billion yen (US$124 million). One user noted that although idol and performer games aimed at girls look like a saturated market, they appear to be selling well too, albeit not on Fate/Grand Order's scale.

Aniplex released the Fate/Grand Order smartphone game in Japan in summer 2015. The game received an English release in the United States and Canada in June 2017. Fate/Grand Order will receive TV anime and film projects. The game also recently celebrated 14 million downloads. According to the most recent figures, Fate/Grand Order made an estimated 3.5 billion yen (US$31 million) so far this month.

Yet still no full screen for cellphones like S8 or S9. Sucks playing this with black borders.

To put a little perspective on this: Every character on "rate up" in the month of September this year for FGO was one that has had multiple prior "rate up" periods, it was a pretty slow month.

August was the swimsuit versions month with tons of really good designs, and October had Illya. I'm curious how good those two months were in comparison to September.

Crazy. The game isn't even that good! Great IP tho. And I did like the story. Playing was just so boring.

I was a fan of Type Moon waaay before FGO and it still baffles me to see how hugely successful this mobage spinoff is.

I mean, I enjoy playing it. It's a fun game, but wow.

Most of the success of the game can be traced back to Nasu and company I think. No mobage does story quite like or as well as FGO does.

It's also great for casual play. A lot of other mobages try to demand all of your time, but FGO is designed in such a way that you can do only six 2-5 minute quests a day and spend all of your stamina while getting most if not all of the rewards from events. Because the free content is so rewarding (after the first few chapters, each new "chapter" is basically a free 8-12 hour long visual novel and a lot of the events also have really meaty story content) and the game is so easy to pick up, you get a lot of casual players.

I wonder if Type Moon is doing anything at all beside this game. It's like Steam to Valve.

Fate/Extella Link came out just a few months ago and the Fate/Extra Last Encore anime aired earlier this year. Prisma Illya, El Melloi, and Strange Fake are all still ongoing. Girls' Work is supposedly still a work in progress. And the Tsukihime remake might exist someday.

14mil downloads just japan or worldwide? Its crazy the amount of money it makes with just 14mil downloads... simply CRAZY. Probably nothing makes this much money on app store with this size of playerbase.

Why are you separating them? They are part of Sony.

Because SIE and SMEJ are different divisions, from different industries and have different subsidiaries, much like they compete with each other in mobile and Sony Music have it's own publishing brand called Unties in which they publish indie games for Switch and Xbox One along PS4. That's why.

Maybe some Fate characters would end up in Smash as DLCs?

Since Grand Order not from SIE, so...

They are still Sony at the end of the day.

Pretty sure he asked why you're separating them because you replied to someone who just said Sony, not SIE or PlayStation. It's a weird distinction to make in that context.

FGO's success still managed to blow me away and make me wonder why Aniplex's mobile group hasn't been spun off into its own division. Do we know how much it's made so far this year?

If anything Delightworks (the developer) is probably making one. They've expanded and restructured into 6 divisions with various producers from Sony, Square-Enix/Taito etc and they've announced Last Brave and CHAINsomnia board games from Division 1 (Swallowtail Studios), headed up by Yosuke Shiokawa who directed Murdered: Soul Suspect. Division 2 is the FGO studio,

I would play this (again) in a hearbeat if they added an auto battle function. Modern social games have spoiled me. And no, I don't use the feature for everything, but it's essential when grinding.

And people are surprised about Activision-Blizzard wanting on the mobile milking business? Max profits for minimal effort, disgusting

I'm really surprised we haven't seen a Fate live-action movie announced. It's so easy to franchise, since you can just call it Fate/Live or whatever and give it its own continuity.

I can only assume it's stewing over at Sony Pictures.

I will never got over this.
Fate was known as that "battle VN with sex and cooking", how did we get here?

Also Tsukihime will never get it's justice.

Is there a site where I can look up revenue for other games? I want to see how my favorite gacha is doing (Dragonball Legends).
