Only way for this thread to move fast enough for another DT is when someone gets the early copy and starts data mining.
Nah. I have quite a few alternate scenarios in my head. Granted, all of them are quite dark in a bad way, so they wouldn't be nearly as fun to discuss as an early copy leaking. (And hey, WoL and other unlocks don't need mining.)

(Come on, me! Come up with one fun thing!)

Okay, so how about a game news site posting a ridiculous opinion piece about Smash. That could be hilarious if it was ridiculous just enough but not too much.

Trophies may be dead but at least we have amiibo flavor text
Ridley is the leader of the Space Pirates in the Metroid™ series and Samus's long-standing rival in battle. He looks like a pterosaur but has high intelligence and a brutal nature. Ridley utilizes wings for a full range of flight and attacks with fireballs from his mouth and whips of his tail.
That's kind of like a trophy

That's...actually mostly just his trophy description from Brawl.

The leader of the Space Pirates. He looks like a pterosaur but has high intelligence and a brutal nature. He plans to steal the baby Metroid from Samus for his own use. Ridley utilizes wings for a full range of flight and attacks with fireballs from his mouth and whips of his tail. As the culprit behind the murder of Samus's parents, the connections with Samus run deep.

Pokefloats is super dead, right? I held out hope for so long, but I don't think it's coming back.
unless there's stage dlc they're not talking about, it's dead

because i'd be pretty pissed if we got a new pokemon character and it came with pokefloats instead of a cool new stage based around a gen 8 locale

Guys ... if a Tetrimino character is made, does it makes more sense the character slowly becoming faster after some time or like Lucario, becoming faster the more it takes hits ?

Oh man, just imagine if gen 8 took place in world inspired by Xenoblade 2 where all the titans are giant pokemon... If only
That would be awesome. Now I really want that ^_^

I wonder if there will ever be Pokemon that can't be captured for some reason like that. Pokemon who are too deeply integrated into the world that it doesn't make sense for them to be capturable.

This has merit, but isn't ludicrous enough. Let me fix this.

Gen 8 should also partially take place on "giant Pokemon" which are actually not giant but regular Pokemon, because they're doing South Korea out of actual giant Pokemon, and they didn't want to ask Koreans what to make of it in fear of violence, so they decided they'll do a Fantastical Voyage homage gimmick because South Korea is squished by North Korea or something, and it will make giant Pokemon feel different than non-giant Pokemon. This allows Nanoscale Battles where every other Pokemon can fly and square cube law scales stats like crazy. Select small Pokemon species don't get resized and instead look huge in Nanoscale. The game ends with villain and protagonist resizing themselves up and villain deploying giant land Pokemon against protagonists upsized Pokemon, and when they lose they upsize themselves again and trip and die and their body is post-game area, based on North Korea.

(He says he doesn't have the game yet. But I wouldn't be surprised if he's getting the game soon.)

Tweet's gone :l

AndreGX Still taking questions? I'm super concerned about the online mode and if preferred rules will actually work. Like if I select 1v1, 3 stock, 6:00, Battlefield forms, will the game match me with someone who chose an identical or near-identical ruleset, or could I possibly be thrown into a 1v1 time or stamina battle on New Pork City? I think the preferred rules system is super overcomplicated and open ended for no good reason. 1v1, 3 stock, 6 minutes will be an accepted way to play and it's been how Nintendo has been running all of their 1v1 prerelease tournies IIRC, so to not be able to guarantee that over matchmaking is baffling to me. Pretty much my only major concern at this point.

In a hypothetical world where I could answer questions about the game, I probably wouldn't be able to address anything about online :)

Hotake: the questions are for a video, but not a question answering one. The video will be "64 things we still don't know yet about Smash Ultimate". The tweet was deleted to manage expectations, immediately after GX acquired 5 questions they didn't come up with.

If you can hypothetically answer any questions... I am very interested regarding the option to change voices to Japanese and how it affects the game. I'm thinking the whole thing will turn into Japanese, menus and all, but it would be nice if there was something to change specific character voices ala Street Fighter V or Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

All of this is purely hypothetical, of course :P

Challenge for the bored. Select four random veteran fighters, sequentially. Take their normal, up, side and down specials respectively. Come up with any game character that would fit this combination, if you dare!

In Day 1 of 'I can't beleive Castlevania music is in Smash Ultimate' we'll spotlight the track "Cross Your Heart" from the firet CastleVania arcade title Haunted Castle. Haunted Castle was released in 1988 and is the first remake of the original CastleVania. Cross Your Heart is the stage 1 theme and likely the only theme 90% of people who have ever played this game have ever heard due to its brutal and frankly unfair difficulty. I don't recommend ever playing it but at least the music is still great

Interestingly enough, this song was re-arranged as part of the CastleVania - Rondo of Blood (Richter's debut game) soundtrack . However, the track wound up going unused in that game. It was later made available as an unlockable in CastleVania: The Dracula X Chronicles, a remake of Rondo of Blood for the PSP.

I'll try to do these every day if I can before release, mostly using music from earlier and handheld entries as they might be less likely to use straight rips.

Hypothetical question: what are you guys planning to do with the spirits?
Like full Analysis Machine for every fight, just saying where everyone is from or just passing to show what the game shows?

Also ...hypothetically, do you think Miyamoto is #TeamTetrimimo? xD
