Beware upcoming ps4 owners

MOD EDIT:

In an open letter to players published on Steam, executive producer Taeseok Jang admitted the developer, PUBG Corp. had "overlooked issues that matter to you" as it focused on providing new content quickly "while supplementing battle royale gameplay". PUBG Corp. has "reflected a lot on our mistakes," Taeseok Jang added.

As a result, PUBG Corp. has shifted priorities for its 2019 roadmap. Now, build stability and quality are "our most important value", ahead of battle royale gameplay and new content.

"At first, this is likely to slow down our build cadence, but as these processes become more proficient, we hope to provide new content as fast as before, while maintaining our new stability and quality-first goal," Taeseok Jang said.

"While we cannot say how long this will take, we promise you that we will give our best efforts to reach this stage as quickly as possible."

Abandoned? They released a timeframe for how long the campaign was going to be on and we're at the end of that timeframe... Now they're just incorporating bug fixing and polishing the game into their regular development schedule without branding it as some special campaign.

Blizzard abandons Halloween event. Epic Games abandons Season 6 Battle Pass.

That isn't really the message I've got from the official statement?

They basically just said they can't stay in their planned schedule and extend the whole thing.

Today, Bluehole announced that it was abandoning Fix PUBG and instead focusing on build stability and quality. According to a report by Eurogamer, the team said that "While this is the end of the Fix PUBG campaign, we will go forward in our development, improve our processes, and redouble our efforts with the lessons learned." It's unclear if build stability and quality refers to performance on consoles or other issues. Hopefully the frame rate and visual quality will be the focus here. At this rate it doesn't seem like PUBG will be truly "fixed" anytime soon, especially on Xbox One.

If the Xbox version is an indicator of what happens when first party helped making it, I want to see what kind of a clusterfuck the PS4 version will be.

LOl yeah..that was nothing but PR BS.....Bluehole tried to take MS easy money. I am sure any Pub would have helped them, and it's not like bluehole never had money after 25 million steam sales

What does this even mean?

"We will kill the Fix PUBG program but will fix these issue" What?

How does the game perform on Xbox and PC's nowadays? I'm tempted to get this on PS4, when it's dirt cheap.

Honestly, it runs like trash on my 1X. Outside of the FPS and bug problems, my main complaint is the overall clunkyness of the game. They basically took the PC game and mapped it to an Xbox controller. None of the menus or inventory in the game feel fluid or practical on a controller because of it.

If your looking for a fun, quality battle royal experience on a console, I would just stick to COD4 Blackout.

Microsoft sure lucked out when Bluehole said no to their purchase offer. I'd imagine that's well and truly off the table now.

So does that mean this game is beyond fixing?
Kinda. A lot of the issues stem from the fact that they never expected the game to explode as quickly as it did. The prebuilt assets and engine it's running on just wasn't built for it. But they can't just scrap it all and move everything or build it by hand without significant issues

The game doesn't look too hot on Xbox but it plays pretty fine IMO. Still one of my fav games this gen easily. Haven't touched any other MP game since it's released. Way more fun than fortnite

Still can't get over how bad they have fucked themselves over and pretty much invited every other game company to eat their lunch.

Yes because owning a company that just produced one of the best selling games in history would be a bad play.

Y'all don't live in reality sometimes. The statement is just "we couldn't fix everything we wanted to fix within the time frame we set with the fixPUBG program. So we are continuing server side and performance fixes into the new year while putting content development on the back burner"

But of course we always have to be hyperbolic when it comes to this game for some reason.

They fooled me. When I first read the news, I didn't realise they meant they were abandoning FIX PUBG...

Content development should be on the back burner for this game. Bugs and performance fixes are so much more important than anything else, especially this long into its life.

I don't see what's controversial here. This is what many were asking for. Just... Fix the game. Add new content when the game is a more enjoyable experience at the base level.

This. Seriously. They're saying exactly what people have been demanding from them and still getting blasted for it.

They aren't. They're just not going to hit the goal that they set which was to have these fixes done by the end of this year so they are going to continue bug fixing and server stability fixes past the date the program ends.

This isn't hard to understand.

It's fascinating how PUBG seemed to immediately lose any sense of identity the moment it started to get overshadowed by Fortnite. I haven't played a whole lot of the game since the early months, but it really seems like they're constantly scrambling to "catch up" instead of just doubling down on what people liked about it in the first place.

Yeah, they were just too busy releasing joker and Harley 30$ skins. Priorities

That Windows Central article has a terrible take on the end of that Fix-It campaign; the game's got issues still, though.

On the basic Xbox console, the past two weeks has had a step back in performance. Playdough houses are back (though nowhere near as bad as pre-0.87 build) , issues have returned with forming & leaving squads, some driving bugs cause CTD, and general plane-loading times have increased substantially.

I think the important part is in the second linked article:

PUBG Corp. has shifted priorities for its 2019 roadmap. Now, build stability and quality are "our most important value", ahead of battle royale gameplay and new content.

That's definitely what they need to work on, before adding more cosmetic junk to the Store. (They also dropped the ball with that one-off Seasonal Event pass). I'm quite happy for all that extra material to be put on hold, while they focus on stability first.

Are you going to say it would have been a good purchase?

It would have arguably been a better purchase than Ninja Theory or Compulsion or Obsidian. PUBG is a bigger hit than any of their games probably ever will be.

Of course the devil is in the details though......how much would they have paid for Bluehole?

Richter's quote above sort of hits how I'm reading it--it's just a very muddled announcement.

Like, just announce that you're extending FIX PUBG if that's the case. Announcing that you're killing it while continuing it on is just, like, what?

It was funny when ppl were saying Sony only players were missing out and salty. I bought and played pubg for about 2 weeks before I ditched it for H1Z1 on consoles so that should say alot. Blackout right now is what Pubg wish it was.

I'm sure they'll keep working on the game but that entire campaign slogan looked so bad from the outside looking in, and now that they're abandoning that campaign, yikes.
